Oh Luvntzus, that remonds me. I also love the Neopolatin Mastiff's, the big ole grey ones like in Harry Potter.

They're cute, a bit too much flews for me though. [:-] lol And speaking of the other Mastiff breeds, I also like Dogue de Bordeaux.

I forgot to mention that when I was working at an animal shelter in CA, there was a female Bloodhound, a little under a year old. She was ADORABLE! She was also really sweet and seemed very smart, but definitely had a stubborn streak. [;)]

SSSSHHHHH, gosh dont say stuff like that I live in California, haha! Oh man, I wish I had room!

I actually don't yearn for any particular breed.  But, my dream would be to win the lotto and be able to build a rescue facility that is state of the art with heated/cooled kennels, individual runs and the ability to have paid and volunteer staff so that EVERY animal who needs a second chance, who's owners have a baby/move/don't have time, etc, has a loving place to live out their life if a loving forever home can't be found.  So that the old guys who's people are tired of waiting for them to die, can have a warm bed and a loving, gentle hand.  I'd like to put the local stray centers out of buisness, and be able to put a few select dogs in a few select GOOD HS's, like the one I work with, where they ALWAYS find excellent homes for dogs.........that's my dream dog.  Whichever one needs a loving home.

Leave it to to you to have thougth of the ultimate doggy heaven, haha! If anyone had the knowledge on this board to do so it would be you mama bear! Wouldnt that be great to not even have to work and wake up every morning to eyes and ears that are so grateful to be there? THAT would be awesome!

I always tell DH that my perfect number of Saints would be seven. Our house and yard are big enough, but I don't think that I have enough time for seven. Two keep me pretty busy.

There are so many dogs from the working and hound groups that I would love. My childhood dream dog was an Borzoi. I would still love one. I also like deerhounds and wolfhounds. I really think a bloodhound or an basset would fit in well with our family. (Droopy and laid back.) I am smitten with doxies. I could happily take home any dog from the working group. I can't think of a single one I would not like. I have a special soft spot for all the giants.

I think the only dog that is really beyond my dreams is a very small dog. There are so many toys that I like, but I am afraid the saints would step on it..... so no min pins, cavs, poms or chis for me.[&o]

Gosh, there is no way I would ever be able to have all my dream dogs, which is why I started fostering!!!!! My dream breeds include...

    1) Sable German Shepherd - because I knew one growing up and he was a totally awsome dog. I've always wanted a gsd, but for some reason I think the sable gsd's are the best looking.

    2) Border Collie - They are so beautiful and smart, although it's the smartness that keeps me from getting one because I'm not sure I have enough time to mentally stimulate a bc

    3) Mastiff/Pyraneese mix - my best friend growing up had a dog of this mix, and he had that perfect mix of protectiveness and friendliness, he used to follow us while we rode our horses all the time.

    4) Rottweiler - I just think rotts are really cool dogs, the ones that I've known that were raised correctly have been perfect family dogs

    5) APBT - I'm actually fostering an apbt mix right now, but I just think these dogs are the best family dogs, and I would love to have the chance to own and train an APBT to be a therapy dog and prove to the world that they dont deserve the bad reputation that they have.

    6) Honestly though, my favorite dogs have always been mixed breeds. I love the uniqueness in each mixed breed dog, you could get ten lab/gsd mixes and most likely none of them would look the same. I think it's hilarious when a mixed breed dog looks like one breed and acts like a completely other breed!!!

That's the best dream of all Glenda.

ooooh a Newfoundland.....love em but just about 100 lbs more dog than I can handle or support.

    Old English Sheepdog
    Bearded Collie
    Rough Collie
    Briard
    Picardy shepherd
    Border Collie
    Australian Shepherd
Polish lowland sheepdog   ..........love the herding group but they are ususally stronger and too intelligent to put up with my shortcomings

    Scottish Terrier
    Schnauzer
lovely dogs but not a personality match for me.

I like glenmar's idea.  If I ever had the space and money I would like to do that as well.  In my adult life I have only had mutts from the shelters as I felt they were the most in need.  As a child I had a dachshund and my best friend had an Irish Setter.  The two dogs were best friends as well.  I have always had a soft spot for both of these breeds.  Fact is I like any kind of dog although I tend to go for larger dogs at this time in my life.

Well, I have always LOVED Rottweilers and I have a Rottie mix and HOPEFULLY the Rottie we are petsitting for is going to come live with us!
BUT, My whole life I have wanted an Anatolian Shepherd! I LOVE those dogs! We are planning on moving to the country in the near future so maybe when we move and the kids are a little older, I can get one!

So what are some dogs that you wish you could have or animal dreams you wish you could fulfill?

Just being able to work with animals has fulfilled my wildest dreams. Ever since my earliest childhood memories, I've wanted to "help" them, and after so many years I'm finally getting that chance. I grew up in San Diego, CA and we always went to the zoo there, and the "big cats" amazed me. My thoughts then were that I wanted to "have" one (too young then to know better), but then as I grew up, being a zoo keeper or veterinarian was my dream job. As it turned out, my HS days provided no guidence in the department of furthering my education and found myself having to settle for a vocational career instead. Well, I spent many, many years doing something that (in hindsight) didn't make me happy.
Since my life change, I've had the opportunity to be a "keeper" and work with exotics which was a wonderful experience. I even got to foster two little lion cubs for a few months. My work with wildlife (deer, rabbits, squirrels, etc) has been equally gratifying and now I work with dogs and cats all day. I consider all these clients "my dogs and cats" while they are with me and some are such regulars, they seem like my dogs, [:D] . As far as breeds I'd like to have, I have them all, with each boarder that comes in the door!  What a privaledge it is to have the opportunity to work with these wonderful animals. I've been truely blessed.
Here's a pic of one of my dogs:

I'd love to have a Saint, and a Newf as well.  I am totally in love with giant breeds and despite their unique health issues I am 100% sure I want one.  It is beyond my means right now, space wise, to have one, but after I move we will have the room.  When that happens, I will adopt a Saint.  I'll have to look carefully and find one who gets along with Ben though.

If we didn't have a city limit on dogs and she wasn't a 21 hour
car ride, ( I've already mapquested) Miranda would be my pick.

My breed picks are Mixes, Husky, Alaskan Malamute, German Shepherd, ;Papillion, Cavalier.  I just met my first Shiba Inu, she was so cute and fiesty.  I would love a small dog but the last Chi I fostered fit through the slats of my fence.

I have my absolute favourite breed - Doberman Pinschers.... but if money were no object and I didn't have a job so I could spend all day with my dogs - I'd also have a German Shorthaired Pointer and a Great Dane.

I've always wanted a Wolfhound.  That, and a Shikoku.  Shibas are just too small for me; I tend to trip on them.  If I lived further out of town I'd have a Dogo or a Cane Corso, but that's just not a good idea in the city.  Oh!  And if I ever get another chance to own a Plott Hound, there's no way I'm letting it slip by again.  They are just the sweetest things!
