Anyway, the highlight of my life thus far is that I, too, admit to being a ron2 groupie.  (Did you notice my new sig, ron???)

That is a cool sig. I was fan of Pat Metheny. I've always been a fan of the Beatles and I can make you feel a little older than me because I was born the year that you saw them. One of my first memories, though, was hearing Glen Campbell's "Wichita Lineman" when it first came out. And I've known some local musicians. I knew the drummer for The Hole in the Wall Band. I've met Ted Nugent when he was signing copies of his books, of which I have both signed. "God, Guns, and Rock and Roll" and his cookbook, "Kill it and Grill it!". I was a true fan. I was wearing a t-shirt from his concert back in 1996. I've auditioned for XLR8 and Razin Cain in the late 80's. One of my college friends had a band that competed in heavy metal contests. They started out as Trident but got tired of the chewing gum jokes and changed to Magenta. Think of Rush with a harder edge. In college, we had a group of misfits on guitars and bass called Translucent Blue Plexiglass. We did a pretty mean version of "Born to be Wild." We had to do the song. My friend had been in the Scorpions MC (motorcycle club not rock group.) And he once auditioned for Prince.

Yeah, well, I have met the Nelsons. As in the twin sons of Ricky Nelson.

And I have a cd of the Village People "Live and Sleazy."

To balance that out, I have met John Kay (singer) of Steppenwolf. The only original members left are him and the keyboard player. The rest of the band wasn't even born when "Born to be Wild" was released.

Having hung out backstage at almost every concert I've ever attended I could really put you guys to shame.....but, we'll just leave it at, I've hung out backstage at most every concert I've ever attending, and DH being in radio, it's been many, many concerts.

Nearly everyone has probably had a near-fame experience. There was once a running gag about the 6 degrees of Kevin Bacon, wherein a person could trace back no more than 6 steps and find a connection to the actor.

    • Gold Top Dog

Glenda, come on......give us the goods.......I can only report on the 90's grunge scene and local rockers when I was attending concerts, and some of the details are a little fuzzy......lol

Gosh, I don't remember what I had for breakfast today, or if I even HAD breakfast.  Let's see.....Air Supply, Hewey Lewis, Sting, Metalica, Guns and Roses, Barry Menlow, Bon Jovi, Eric Clapton, Kenny Rogers.....geeze.  We're going back 20 plus years guys.

And then at the radio and record conventions we've met a lot of entertainers......I remember Madonna, and the gal that did that stupid "telephone man" song, Carly Simon,   Tons of others, but heaven knows who the heck they were now.

    • Gold Top Dog

Whoa, hold the horses....Metallica, Guns N' Roses and Bon Jovi....you got lucky girlBig Smile

For years DH worked in the CHR format so we basically saw ALL the hot rock bands.  And that included back stage.  This weekend we're going to see Air Supply again....sappy yeah, but I've always been a ballad type gal.  But, I also get into the real rock bands.  Some of the stuff that passes for rock now makes me wanna puke!

    • Gold Top Dog

Yeah, you are right....but, there are some bands that really rock....the biggest surprise was Nickelback.....one hears them on the radio and thinks....wheepy rock.....not so in a concert......they will blow your socks off, get their cds, and you will find out fast how many songs are nice and sweet.............not many.......Chad Kroeger can really sing............but, I still love Korn.......

For some reason, I get intrigued by the juxtaposition of soft ballad style and thrash punk from Linkin Park.

I saw our local weatherman in a clothing store.  Does that count?

He's kind of like *** Clark in that he never ages.

By the way, DW and I got to meet Shelly Duvall at a screening of one of her movies. She was there for Q & A after the movie and then we personally got to talk to her in the theater lobby after that. She really is down-to-earth person and originally comes from Houston. I think it would be cool to meet her brother. They both have that incredible talent.

ETA: I just giggled because the dirty word editor starred out a celebrity's stage name. I suppose I should have said Richard Clark.
