What will you be doing for the 4th?

my boss is usually pretty accomodating. i am surprised he is requiring us to use vacation days. he has closed before and not required it.

i do think he will let us use sick days instead, and i do have way more of those than i will use. so it isnt that big of a deal, just not what i was expecting.

I'm going to Madtown (Madison, WI) for my friend Canada's 21st birthday.  That's right....Canada is Canadian, and he was born on the 4th of July.  Gotta love the irony.

I'm the one that gets to make sure he doesn't drink himself to death

There is nothing better to celebrate USA independence day with than mexican food hahahaha

That's right...especially here in Texas!  [;)]  We eat mexican food for breakfast, lunch and dinner sometimes!

So far there's only a 30% chance of rain for Wed. So here's hoping it won't rain!

Us too...but they keep extending the rain for another day each day.  We are at  30% for the 4th and I'm hoping that rain will  go ahead and come and go in the morning!

    Sure do! [:D

    Thanks, that looks good.

I will be going to your house!

Come on over....the more the merrier!  [:D]

That sounds like a good plan. Mexican food (I can do that) with a Hawaiian decorations

You know, you could add pineapple to your pico and you could add some of the more commonly used Hawaiian spices to some of your other foods and even make it a Hawaiian themed mexican meal too...

Oh and this year we will have DH's daughter so since he has to work that day, hence he won't be drinking with us, he gets to drive us to watch fire works.  We usually go out on the levy and can see every firework show in the city.  I may try to take her to see the parade that morning too if she will get up.

I think I'm going to take G for a hike up an easy mountain so that she's well-rested while I go out to a friend's BBQ and fireworks for the evening.  [:D]

OH MAN... I am sitting here sweltering right now with no A/C (it isn't working) I had no idea that it was gonna get even hotter... damn!

You know those quart Ziplock bags with the double seals?  Fill one about a quarter full with water and carefully fill the rest with ice cubes (don't let sharp ice pieces puncture the bag).  Squeeze out as much air as possible and seal the bag.  Put the bag on top of your head.

    That will help a lot!!

I am trying to convince DH that it will be worth it to go back home to Michigan.  It's not a long drive, but it can get kind of nuts with Chicago traffic if you don't hit it just right and with the new baby you are always rolling the dice.

If not, just cleaning etc. for the MIL to visit the following week and probably catching up on some much needed sleep!

What will I be doing for the  4th? Homework! If I can I'll burn some meat on the barbie. Blue Oyster Cult is playing in Frederick - might do that.

During the day, we usually just go for a ride, or to a BBQ, but we're always home in time to feed the furkids early, eat dinner, clean up, snuggle up on the couch with dessert and A/C to watch the Boston Pops and the 1812.  I used to go in person, but I got tired of sitting in the sun on the grass a gazillion miles from the johnny-on-the-spots just to get a good seat.  One year (1976), we took the boat down the Charles and sat anchored pretty much right under the howitzers - that was quite an experience.

I will be signing last-minute papers, since I'm selling a house and escrow closes on the 5th!!!!!

Thanks for that suggestion Janet Rose![:)]   Cathy,  we are back now, and the RV has great AC, but for some reason ours is not working and I am desperately hoping we can get the AC guys out in the next couple days but not sure with it being a holiday week

I think we have decided what we are gonna do.. I think we are going to go early for a really great walk with the pups in one of the neat parts of our city, then go to see the film “La Vie En Rose" And then either get Thai or French food out after the movie OR, go home and have a early BBQ in the mid afternoon.

Well Shelly, just take a look at our forecast and hopefully it'll make you feel a little cooler.  Last year when we were in the triple digits, our AC went out and we couldn't get anyone out to repair it for about a week.  It was miserable.  I hope it doesn't take that long for you to get relief [:)]

    Triple-digit weather expected throughout week

Hundred-degree weather returns to Sacramento this week, with a Fourth of July forecast that will explode in a dizzying display of heat.
Temperatures, which will climb into the 90s Monday, could hit 100 degrees on Tuesday, according to the National Weather Service.
Expect 105-degree heat on Wednesday - the Fourth of July - that will stay in the upper 90s into evening fireworks time, said forecaster Felix Garcia.
But that's not even the worst day, Garcia said. It could hit 106 on Thursday before slightly cooling off.
The record for July 5 is 107, set in 1931. The Independence Day record of 110 was set in 1991.
High pressure over the Four Corners is pushing the air and blocking the Delta Breeze, Garcia said.

Chris & I will be packing up the Schmee (in a car with A/C, yea!) and going to his mothers house for grilling in the sun and relaxing in the shade...and maybe some doggy playtime, depending on how Patches the Dalmation and Koda the Boxer feel that day. [:)]

It did make me feel better Cathy..THANKS![:)]  and I am sorry for you [&o]

we will be in the mid 90's.  I already started sleeping downstairs last night (even when we have AC, the bedrooms don't cool enough due to the vaulted ceilings). I am gonna have to go buy an aerobed tonight I am afraid...

DH is in the Navy and is out to sea until the 9th, so a few girlfriends and I will be going out to dinner and going to a fireworks show...that's about it! I don't lead and incredibly exciting existence, and I kind of like it that way sometimes! [;)]

Bummer! [&:] I've been really enjoying these cool nights, but there's no way a night is going to be very cool if the daytime temp is 105.  So far, even on the warmer days, the combination of the attic fan and letting the ceiling fan run on high all afternoon has kept the bedroom pretty comfy.  Hopefully, the triple digit heat wave will be short lived and not run on for two weeks like it has for the last two summers.
