Holy freaking CRAP that was a HUGE A$$ BUG!

Insects have 6 legs. Spiders have 8. Other stuff has other amounts of legs. "Bugs" is sort of a general category that encompasses all sorts of multi-legged critters.

Though as far as I'm concerned, any more than four legs is entirely too many. I'm not a fan.

to the untrained eye that might look like a house centipede. in actuality, it is the zanzabar flesh eating centipede. very similar in appearance. i hope you killed it. that is just a hatchling. they can grow to be rather large (12-18") and have been known to carry off small children.

the real question is... is that the only one?

    BRADLEY, YOU A$$H0L3!!!!

Seriously your post made me LOL.  Thanks for that.  Glad to hear I am not the only one sufficiently freaked-out-to-hell by that damn bug!  Hubby said that after he killed it, the legs that had separated from the body were still going!!!

Oh and Meilani, I cannot imagine a bug with cahones so big as to rear up like that - I'd have done the same thing you did!!!!
    • Gold Top Dog
EWWWWW! [:o] I'm going to have nightmares about that bug!!! Yuuuuck! I feel really sorry for you having to deal with that monstrosity in your house. *Shudder*
    • Gold Top Dog
Soooooooooooo ok, here in good ole Floor-da we get bugs of all sorts sizes and personalities

Have you run into those big flying cockroaches that sound like a transformer shorting out when they take off.  The noise scared the heck out of the pups the first time we saw into one of those.

That is one ugly bug and I would hate to find one of those things in my house it's bad enough with my phobia with June Bugs. I just couldn't stand seeing something that huge crawling around in the house.

My brother told me about those banana spider that would come in every once an while at  his work those things where huge he hated them.

    LMAO!

In any case, that thing is SCARY.  SCARY.  I hate bugs.  My fiance is my official bug killer.

I just remembered...  have ya'll got those crikets around?  I call them cave crikets.  They have HUGE back legs and they can jump up and look you in the eye..   Well, last week, I was giving Maddy her bath, and I looked down to find one sitting beside of me[:'(]  I tried to blow on it and make it go the other way..  Didn't happen, that sucker jumped ON me.  I screamed like someone was killing me!  Justin comes running and about broke his neck over the dogs!  He said what, I pointed and kept saying KILL IT!  He killed it, then yelled at me for scaring HIM.  It jumped on me.  I was the one that was scared!  I am terrified of those things!

See if this worked.  This is what I was talking about.

Didn't work[>:]  Just google Cave Cricket

Most cockroaches do not fly, so you may be seeing a beetle.  A lot of folks in Texas mistake the pine beetle for a cockroach.

To the best of my recollection I have never screamed in my life, so I find this thread quite amusing.

    I live in Hawaii.

We have flying cockeroaches "B52's" as they are affectionately referred to.

You will not see me run screaming faster when one of those sum'biches come cruising by. ... well, except if it's a spider.

The louder the scream is directly related to the size of the spider.

G33 that is the most terrifying thing, ever. *I*C*K*

    oh.my.lord.

That is what we refer to here as a SEWERPEDE.
That is mainly because my fiancee works at the river water treatment plant here and they get them there ALL THE TIME.

This thread has me itching and looking under things.

Sea creatures and BUGS. Two of the biggest things that give me the freaks. I cannot stand them. I would rather, like bullymom, give up my house to a bug than kill it. I will NOT hear that exoskeleton crunch under my foot or hand. NO WAY.

    GAH!
I just want you to know that now I'm going to be freaking out ALL DAY. I HATE BUGS. HATE THEM.
I don't fear that they'll bite me or hurt me (except for stingy bugs, I fear the wrath of those things), I don't want them touching me. It's a fear I cannot explain.

Trust me, no explanation needed. I share the exact same fear with you. In fact, I cannot even bear to feel them through a napkin if I happen to find a disgusting buggy corpse somewhere in my home. I have to find something to 'scoop' them up with so that I don't have to feel them at all. BLECH!! [:'(]
