An autoclave is steam/pressure sterilizer. Instruments are placed in packages and then in the chamber of the autoclave where they are sterilized by pressurized steam. Here's a few examples:
A 'real' piercer is a trained specialist, typically found in a tattoo/piercing shop. Now, around here those aren't found in the mall, but I hear that it's very different in the US. Also, a 'real' piercer will not use a gun. Piercing guns are brutal!! They jam blunt studs through your flesh. And, the CANNOT be sterilized!!! If you have any cartilage pierced by a gun, you risk having it shattered and ending up with lumpy cauliflower ear! Piercers use disposable single use sharps and receiving tubes and clamps which are cleaned and sterilized after each client. The pierce gently by hand rather than using a gun to jam your jewelry in.
