Piercings

I love piercings and tattoos but I like ones I can hide so I do have my nipples pierced! It doesn't hurt it's bout the same as your belly button. One thing is they don't reduce the sensisvity like some people believe but makes it a different tweak it you get what I mean *wink wink* I sometimes wish I didn't get them done cause I love that but I do like them and enjoy them! hehe

i've had my nipples pierced for 10 years.  i wear 8 gague steel captive beads rings in them.

my situation was a bit special:  i knew the piercer and there was a guest piercer at the shop, so i had both done simultaneously.  the adrenaline rush was UNBELIEVABLE.  it went on for so long that i didn't notice the pain right off.  the needles are so sharp, and the clamp is so tight, the actual piercing itself isn't that painful.

it's the CLEANING that will kill you.  i'll never forget it- the first time i had to turn them with soap on them- white lightning.  i almost fainted.  it got easier, of course, but it was a tough healing process.

*knock on wood* i've never had a problem healing piercings, only stretchings. 

there is a really great healing product on the market now called "h2ocean".  when i stretch and i get a flare-up, i use it with some kind of triple antibiotic cream, and i'm good in a day or two.
 
ETA keep in mind that your nipples will appear hard pretty much constantly after that.  not a problem, really.  just something to note.

I've got piercings!  4 right now, but at one point had 7.
 
2 in each ear, one cartilage piercing in my left ear (going to get that redone I think...I slipped in a puddle of water, hit my head on the wall, and the earring went through my ear >.<, and formerly had both nipples pierced.
 
Can't like...hurt like a biotch, but when they healed? HOooo boy was it awesome.
 
Ended up taking them out...may get them done again.  I'm debating if the pain is worth it for a second time around.

I've worked in a tattoo shop for 6-7 years. My station has always been next to the piercing station, so I've overheard hundreds of people get their nipples pierced. A very small number have yelped, but most just let out a surprised breath. People usually fare pretty well, and don't seem to be too bothered. I would say if you can handle any piercing, you can handle most of them, excluding of course any of the extreme ones. Myself, I'd be more worried about having to expose my tatas to a stranger![sm=eek.gif]

I'd say go for it, if you want them. I've known many girls who have had them done, and they've never mentioned that it hurt a lot... Although I've never really asked, because I have zero interest in having that done! Mostly they said it's awkward during healing, and that they had to make sure there wasn't a lot of movement down there (ie. sports bra) during healing.

I can't stomach piercings, myself. I've nearly passed out from trying to watch a few being done! Thinking about it now is making me queasy!

8 Gague?  That is HUGE!!!! 
 
What is the standard size that they are normally pierced at? 
 
OMG, I nearly passed out when I read 8 gague.

12 or 14 is standard.
 
and i had a 4 in my tongue and my ears are 1/2 inch... so you see, to me, it's really not that big[]
 
i just prefer the look of large gague jewelry

I have exposed my tatas to strangers before & I'm sure that I'll do it again, so that's not really a problem.

I must be one of the only guys I know who HATES body piereings.I don't even like ear rings..

 i like to look at tatoos,and have been told I ought to get into doing them,and would consider it if it was one of my own designs..

I used to have my septum pierced when I was much younger. I managed to stretch that out to 6 gauge, and it was pretty much the most painful thing ever. It made me weak in the knees!

I've since let the hole heal up. I wanted to continue to wear a retainer and keep it just because it hurt so darn much. It felt wrong to let all that suffering go to waste!

I have no piercings. I'm a total square. The only remnants are my saggy earlobes that never really recovered from being stretched out to an inch.

you will.  by the time you are done with the first one, you'll be so jacked up on adrenaline, you won't even feel the second one...

Oh yeah. The adrenaline rush can sometimes run out after the first, so the second hurts more!

you know, it really doesn't SEEM that big to me.  it wasn't really intentional, like my ears. it's just when i went to get new jewlery, i would jump a size, and it always just fit....

by far, the most painful piercing.  of course, i don't have any below the belt, but i would still wager a guess that septum beats it all...

I just thought of another question.  How long do they take to heal?  For example, if I were to get them done this weekend, would they be healed enough to race in a duathlon at the end of this month?

i think that would be pushing it.
