    That'll be a first.  [:)]

    ...and so it starts.

You must agree that that icon has no place on this forum.  I am sure you missed it because the post was edited out by the Admin, but that icon was used in a most inappropiate way.

You're in Illinois, come to Petsmart in Orland Hills and be a handler for Marvin at the dog show today.  It will be a good work out and you'll be educated on the Hound breed.

Don't you watch cartoons.  If butterflies are flying around the head then that means the character is only knocked out, not dead.

Those arent butterflies, they are flies, if you watch closely the horse's eyes are 2 "X"s, and the legs are facing up, that is prove that the horse is now an x-alive (meaning no more, like ex-wife [;)]) horse being [:D]

Thanks Dyan.  Being compassionate doesn't exactly mesh well with my tough old broad veneer, but dang it, I am, whether I like it or not! [:(]

DPU, beating a dead horse is an expression and has been around for years and years.  If you have a major issue with the emoticon, let Kelly or Jaime know via email or PM.  I personally, in looking at it, find it to be a bit cartoonish and I doubt that I would actually use it, but we all have opinions and if this is something that you feel strongly about, TALK to them.  They can do something about it, none of the rest of us can.

When I first saw that emoticon, I wanted to save it to use,,,,,,I have a ton of them saved.
I do thinks its a cartoon that represents an old saying, one that is used over and over. I don't find it offensive...but I respect DPUs opinion.

DPU… I am confused (which wouldn#%92t be the first time unfortunately).[&o]

Are you referring to the “beating of the dead horse” icon???   I actually was the one that gave that (along with 12 others to Personal Champ to ask that they add it).  I am not sure I understand your issue with that emoticon.

The saying “you are beating a dead horse” is used all time, so what is your issue with it as an emoticon?  I think (especially in threads like this one) it is VERY apropos.  Billy had a very specific intent in its use which I would have liked to say two pages ago. I don#%92t think that on a forum of animal lovers that is promotes animal cruelty and I am pretty sure that Billy isn#%92t out in his barn right now beating his horses…

I do not agree but I admit to not being as sensitive as some.

I would love to.  Unfortunately, there is a semi load of CA-6 in the driveway with my name on it.  My wife, apparently, is too delicate to work the front end loader.  [:)]

Horses don't die with their legs toward the heavens.  Birds do.  I don't see any x's, you are making that up.

Others, at first I did not mind the icon until I saw how it can be abused on this forum.  It is just not tasteful.

Then I suggest, as Glenda already mentioned, that you notify personal champ that you disagree with one of the emoticons that was suggested by a poster and added to our list of ones available for our use. [:)]

How about if we just keep "harping on" it.  [:D]

My bad.  I consider my fingers slapped.

Well, I have to agree on THAT one...a lot of them are abused on this forum. Everytime someone says something snotty and means it and then adds a emoticon,,,I don't like it!
Billy had a very specific intent in its use which I would have liked to say two pages ago.

A no win situation.    Some want to talk,,,others want to say what they want to say and then want the subject dropped, some just don't want to hear it...so instead of not reading they use emoticons!  I'm not sure I like any of them.
But okay,,,,,,,,,so here goes a really really stupid question!  How are these emoticons added to the forum?   Another forum I am on, have a ton of them to use and they are all right there to be seen...along with a link to more on another page. I see nothing on this forum except Smileys on top which don't go anywhere for me...and more smileys to the left of this write screen.

    Moderator cap is on...

[sm=backtotopic.gif]  Please let's try to keep this thread on topic from here on out...okay?
Questions and concerns about smiley's can be discussed in a new thread, as it seem that some folks might have concerns and questions and more people will be and be able to answer them under a more obvious heading.
    Thanks, all!

DPU, I saw the post you are referring to and I have to agree 100% that the poster showed incredible BAD TASTE in her use of this particular icon. I was pleased that Personal Champ was quick to respond and deleted it.

ETA: Sorry Gina, posted at the same time!
