Missing members thread!-HKDog, et al

Either way, I do wish she would come back, despite the way the thread which caused her to leave was handled.

I guess we've wandered from the topic, but I had to add my [sm=2cents.gif].  There was enough of the posts Shep made that weren't deleted to tell that she was feeling pretty frustrated and things had gotten ugly.  I don't think Gina had any fault in that at all though.  I think both Gina and Glenda do a fantastic job.  I wouldn't want be a moderator nor are there many other people on this forum that I would want to do it either.  I think we're getting way more than we pay for with both of them [:)]

I respectfully disagree.  Gina could have easily diffused the situation, but chose not to.  Anyone who knows how to fight dirty knows that saying something like "I'm sorry you are having such a sad day" in response to another person is meant to patrionize and therefore inflame the situation, not cool it off.  It was just handled badly, and we likely lost a valuable member because of it.

I have nothing aginst Gina, and I'm not saying Sheprano was without fault, as she clearly was.  I just think the entire situation is unfortunate.

I thought about Lena this morning, too.

And Inne and her cute little Louise.

I've thought about Inne as well.

Since I'm not able to unring the bell and remove the moderator from my avatar......THIS IS PURELY MY PERSONAL OPINION.

That's it?  That's reason to pick up your toys and go home?  Gina did what I do frequently with my sons when one decides to rant and rave.

And, it was JAIME who did the editing, not Gina.

I talked to Lena a few times and then when I moved to my parents I didn't hear from her. I tried email but got nothing. Billy, I believe still talks to her. Last he told me she was busy starting a new business.

Glenmar, sorry we are not your kids and no way would I want to be treated as such.  Why can't you think of it as Sheprano respected a fellow member alot.  She was in awe when the fellow member got elevated to moderator.  When confronted with a absolute contradiction about her own dog by this moderator and since the contradiction goes to the love and knowledge of her dog, the reaction was set off.  The reaction escalated because the moderator dismissed the emotional impact of Sheprano's love for Rory.  After 3 dismissals, that was too much for Sheprano.  It is unfortunate that Sheprano's post were edited.  All could have seen how and why this escalated and learned from it.  It is sad that nothing was learned from this loss.  It definitely was not ranting and raving but more accurately a mother protecting her child.

    Thanks for sharing that Angel.

DPU, I guess that it's lucky that I didn't make the comments then. [;)] Because, honestly, I've had FAR worse said to me.  And since the comments WERE edited, we don't know what was said.

Please don't jump to conclusions about how I think of Sheparno.

In no way did I imply that this was not something to be unhappy about, but it is certainly not worthy of leaving over.......

I honestly read it as someone's OPINION and it kind of looked to me like she was trying to diffuse things.  But, that's just my take on it.  I'm reading it long after the fact and I can't get a real feel for how upset folks were this long after it's over.

So for the record, I have no issues with how the moderators moderate.  I like that Gina puts the moderator cap on.  I easily differentiate at that point.

However, would it be possible for them to have 2 logins... maybe one as a moderator and one as a poster?  Heck we don't even have to know who the moderators behind the new names are.  Just an idea for the future.  There may be people who have preconceived notions about others and this may affect conversations also.

I've said it before and I shall say it again. It's forum guys. We all have lives and pretty much hang out here when bored. I don't tell family members I was on a dog site all day arguing with people I've never met. They would think I was nutts.  We all have feelings, we all have bad days. This morning I barked at DH, then after noon I was in a great mood and he was still pissy with me for barking at him for no good reason. We have bad days, we can't please everyone.  Sure I like a lot of people here, and I enjoy talking to certain people more, but am I gonna get all upset over them? No. And don't even think about bringing up Joel. LOL  I got a kick out of his post, but cripe I don't really care about it.

Smilee, that *might* work for some of the younguns, but by golly you get an old fart like me trying to remember two different logins and two different passwords, I'm likely to blow a fuse or two.

Well, I don't have to say much else--you pretty much made the point for me, as oddly enough most people don't appreciate being talked to like 5 year olds.....
