all i can say is.. whoa... that was
different. I got to see Pan's Labyrinth. It was a spontaneous decision. i was going to wait till the weekend to go see it, but tonight was aparently the last night for it to be shown....i didnt find this out until about 5:00pm, and the showing was at 7:00pm and you just dont rush out of the house to see a movie when you have two babies, three dogs, a cat, a bunny, plus three baby ducks (my mom's idea because her house has been too cold for them..) So i talked my cousin into coming to see it with me. i told her no kids, she said no problemo! we got there ten minutes after seven, but no worries because it hadnt started yet..... there were only three people seeing it, my cousin, me and some other lady.. she was funny.. the poor girl.
I got up a couple times (during certain scenes, i'm such a wimp.) and this woman was actually covering her eyes one time, and another time looked like she had her fists in her mouth. thats ok, so did i, and my cousin LAUGHED at me!!! that's also why i got up to get refills twice....
it didnt focus on the ethereal stuff as much as i had hoped it would, and it was very sad in some spots, but the art is fantastic. and i loved the concept as well. So i'm glad i went to see it. That boogie man with the eyeballs in his hands is going to haunt me forever though..... Its been a LOOONG time since i was actually held that much in suspence. [sm=biggrin.gif]
as for M Knight.... i dunno, i think he's an amazing story teller. each story has its own essence and its own appeal, and none of them are TOO similar except for the whole wicked twists in the plots. My only problem with the Village was the blind girl looked too much like my husband's exwife. he and i both were having a hard time watching that film.... this woman has caused us no end of grief and missery and to see her clone on the big screen was torture.... if it werent for that minor detail i think i would have liked the Village.
I never got to see Unbreakable all the way through, what i did see was interesting, but.... they set it up for a sequal.. so where is it?
Its a shame Jim Henson is no longer with us. he did an amazing job with Labyrinth and Dark Crystal.... but i'm not aware of anything else like those films. most people think muppets when you mention Henson... he did more than just that!
