PRINCE IS GETTING A SISTER!!!!!!!!!!!!

What a lovely girl!

Didja get her? Is she home yet?!!?

Well we are finally back...wow what a girl.

She is gorgeous. Her coat could use some work but is in decent shape. Losing a little bit of hair on her back and elbows and is dry and flaky but that is expected. When we first arrived she was so skittish and fearful. But already she has warmed up and no longer flinches or acts scared. She shows interest in the cats but friendly interest.

Prince was so anxious and excited when we got there, and he gets really intense with other dogs when he first meets them. He really scared her. But now that we are home, she is the one intimidating him! I just think that his nose is out of joint...he doesn't really want to have anything to do with her and doesn't even look at her. But hes just being a brat...I'm sure they will get along great. There were starting to play before we left E.Tawas.

She seems like a good dog. Has a little more energy than Prince and does seem a little "smarter" and catches on REALLY quick. She is soooo much a velcro dog. So far alot more than Prince. She seems to bond quickly with a person and follows them around. She also nibbles when she wants attention but we are putting a stop to that right away. This girl will definately need obedience classes. I'm going to start clicker training right away until I can get her enrolled. She definately ruled the house where she was at before!

I'm sure more of her personality will come through soon. She is already making herself at home, exploring every room and even going down into the basement with no fear of steps. Not sure if we will keep her name yet though. She doesn't seem like a "Macey"...at least to me.

Well guess I should go to bed. Here is one picture of her I got after we got home. I will definately be posting more tomorrow.

Last night she slept in the room with us and Prince and there was only a little whinning (she wanted up on the bed) but slept through the night. No squabbles at all and this morning when we woke up to take them outside she was a total wiggle butt. All fear/uneasiness she seemed to have yesterday is already gone. Prince is being such a gentleman - isn't ignoring her as much but is just letting her be and not be so overbearing I went out and bought her a bed and some toys of her own but she doesn't really seem to care to play with them right now. She loves to run, run, run! But keeps us in sight and has a better recall than Prince so far. We have her on a strict NILF program and already she is learning her place a little better. That will take some work b/c you can still see on her face she thinks she is not a dog and can't believe we are treating her as such! hahaha. I can totally see the difference between male and female dobes now. So similar but yet so different.

How is she doing after her first full day with you???

Congrats on the new addition to the family she is a pretty girl. Hope her and Prince are getting along well.

Macy is doing really good so far. Her and Prince seemed to have worked out any 'dominance' issues and are playing wonderfully together. Although it is quite loud with two dobermans wrestling in the house! She is a quick learner and actually complies with NILIF alot easier than what Prince does. She is not nearly as stubborn or willful as he is....and I hope he doesn't teach her how to be...LOL
 
I called her previous owner...and it is a really long story. The woman who took Macy to the vet, got her fixed, shots everything actually aquired her through another family. The original family wanted Macy back after a year...and extremely reluctantly she gave Macy back to her 1st family. They are the ones the dumped her in the shelter. The woman I spoke with was almost crying on the phone b/c her family misses Macy so much. She said if she knew Macy would have ended up in a shelter there is no way they would have gotten her back. It sounds like they took care of her extremely well...so it is nice to know some of Macy's past. We know nothing about Prince's past so the information is nice to have.
