    PRINCE IS GETTING A SISTER!!!!!!!!!!!!

Ok I'm so excited I can hardly stand it. I was browsing petfinder today and came across this beauty....

She was just put on the site and I couldn't beleive the adoption fee...$10....could that be true?? I emailed the dobe rescue where I got Prince to see if maybe they could pull her. Then I showed my husband this dog. Something is really pulling at me to get her ASAP. His parents live in East Tawas...a city about 10miles away from the shelter...maybe they could get her??

Well I call the shelter to get more information. She was given up due to "moving" but reluctantly. I asked about cats, dogs, kids - great with all of them. She is even housetrained to ring a bell tied to the door when she needs to go outside. How cool is that? Up to date on shots, spayed..good to go. I asked about not being good with boy children...well it turns out that they had an autistic son that came to stay with them on/off every 2 weeks. The dog didn't seem to like the child...just getting nervous, etc, no agression, just uneasiness. I'm wondering if that was the real reason they got rid of her?

Anyways, I get an IM from my husband. His mom has agreed to get the dog for us. She is on her way right now. I called the shelter and they are reserving her for us.

Aww, she looks like a sweety! It's great that you're rescuing her from that cage. Are you going to keep her name? Maggy Mae and Prince--pretty cute. [:)]

Wow that's an awesome story!  She looks soooo sweet!!  Congratulations!

Ok...MIL has the dog at her house! We are going right after work to pick her up!!! [:D]

Now...anyone want to help me with introductions? It is about a 2hr drive from our house to where she is at. It would be neutral territory for Prince if we take him with us and have them meet at MIL house. But do you think there would be any fighting or issues when bringing them both back in the same vehicle? Or it would be better to leave Prince at home and have them meet at home in the yard on leashes? That would not be neutral territory for Prince but he accepts any strange dogs onto the property after a sniff and just wants to play with them....

Congratulations on your new girl! Is she a blue dobe?! So pretty! Shat a sweet face. I can't wait to see photos of her.

Yup she is a blue. Her coat looks really good for being a blue dobe too. My MIL says she is a little shy at first but that is to be expected being moved around so much lately. I'm leaving at 3pm to get her!!!!!!! woo hoo only 2 more hours.

    Wow shes beautiful! Congrats!

Oh Congratulations!!!!!!  How excited.  What a wonderful thing you are doing giving her a new home.:)
I think personally Id leave my dog at home when meeting her for the first time.  Give you time to get to know each other a little without Prince.  And then like you said they could meet at your home.  Just my opinion though.:)
Let us know how it all goes!!!

It's a tough call whether or not to take her. Like lizk said, you may want a little time to get to know her. And having two dogs in the car together that don't know each other well may be stressful.

I took Loki when we picked up Odin. They got to meet at the shelter and play for a while. Then I crated them both for the ride home (about 3 hours). It worked well. But if Prince is ok with meeting dogs at home, you may want to just do it that way.

Congratulations!! It's always so exciting getting a new dog! She does have a reallly nice coat for a blue Dobe. [:)]

Personally, I think it would definitely be best to leave Prince at home. This girl has been through a lot and the car is pretty close quarters- even in a crate they wouldn't be able to get far from each other. I would probably take things really slow at home... like let them get to know each other through a baby gate for a few days. I really wouldn't rush it at all.

I think the close quarters on the drive home might be a little stressful.  Even if it isn't for them, it might be for you [:)].  I think I'd go for the initial meeting at home or somewhere near home.  Is it possible you could have your DH bring Prince and meet you somewhere near your home, like a park?

Congratulations!!! She is beautiful, I adore all Dobermans but the blues are my favourite. I hope she fits in well with you and your family. I don't have any introduction tips though..

Yay! Can't wait to see more pics. [:)]
