Main difference there is that a child will grow eventually into doing thier own study, making their own choices and from there...upholding those ethics or forming their own different ones.
Exactly. A dog cannot change it's mind, and go back to it's carnivorous lifestyle. A human child CAN. I questioned everything, as a child. I wanted to know where each peice of food came from, and how it got on my plate. I picked apart every meal. I'm sure it got on my mom's nerves[

] When I was a young teenager, I tried to go vegetarian several times, and failed (because I didn't know how). When I was 15 or 16, I went vegetarian for good. Now, I'm vegan, hopefully permanently. It seems to be working well for me, so far. The dog cannot decide that, for herself. She cannot hop in the car, and run to the grocery store for a package of chicken[

IF I choose to have children, they will be allowed to eat whatever they want, and they will know where it came from. I wouldn't force my religion or my moral beliefs on a child, either. I don't do it to the dogs, LOL. They can believe whatever they want, as long as they behave decently.
And FWIW, Emma was vegetarian for quite some time, as an adolescent. She had some serious health problems that required her diet to be strictly regimented. She smelled AMAZING. I miss the sweet smells that came from her. When she started stabilizing, I added fish back in, and slowly, she's gotten back to a normal diet.
