    It is just tooo cold

I cannot believe how absolutely cold it is.  It is -8 this morning without the wind chill factor.

Even Charlie, Mr. must poop in the perfect spot and can take 20 minutes finding it, took only 5 minutes to do his business this morning and promptly turned around and begged to go back inside.  If I would have let him, he would have pooped on the front porch.

I know this doesn't compare to Jean's -40 but man, this is nuts!

It feels like about 24 here, with wind chill.  My hands got so cold when walking earlier, brrrrrr.  I would really not like the -8, that's for sure!  When the air feels moist, it feels so much colder, too.  Brrrrrr.   Nope, you can keep the negative temps!!  Just below freezing is enough for me.

It's zero here...-14 with the wind chill.  There will be NO walks in the woods today, and we're limiting their time out to 20-30 minutes.  I, however, need to go outside and shovel the huge front deck since DS didn't do it.  Sigh.

Feeling like 24 degrees would feel like a heat wave right now!  I think our weather is more like what Lisa and Charley (mrstjohnson) are experiencing.  Yesterday's high was zero and low was -12 (NOT a record).  But right now it is -11 and FEELS LIKE -35 (with wind chill).

Was at a home improvements store yesterday that carries some cheap pet supplies - indulged in a bag full of cheap stuffies by Milkbone to give them something to do in the house!!!

yeah our poor puppers haven't been out for a run for over a week.  With work and darkness and this cold! it's too cold for us and dangerous for them since they're not used to it. :(  I wanted to take them to the park today but the high is 17 with a wind chill in the negatives.  :(

We're having similar weather in Nebraska. It's -14 with the wind chill today (5 w/out) and it's been this way for weeks pretty much. Russell doesn't seem to care too much (we've let his coat grow in this winter), but I do... it's too cold for me out there.

I feel bad for you guys. [&:] I can't even wrap my mind around those kinds of temperatures.

After seeing how cold it is for y'all, I am going to stop feeling sorry for myself & the 45 degree weather here.

and here I was about to complain about my fingers nearly breaking off from the cold.  But it's still in the positive numbers here, so I shouldn't complain too much.  Although weather.com says the overnight temps will "feel like -9 or -11".  Tomorrow's noontime temps, you ask?>> "12 degrees, but feel like -6"... ptuey!

We've been working in shifts for the past 3 hours trying to clear off our front deck.  I finally made the guys come in.  It's more than half done.....DS should have been working on it for the past 3 weeks that he's not been going to work because of the weather, but noooooo, he waits until I get good and mad and then "helps".  DH would not let me go back outside.  Not after he had to help me peel the jeans off that had FROZEN to my legs.  It is snowing like crazy still and as cold as it is, I don't know how that's even possible....seems like it would freeze on it's way down and not land......

Just watched the national news and the Minneapolis area being around -18 before windchill.  They said it was colder there than the north pole.  And the jet stream isn't moving for one, maybe two weeks.  Just gonna sit there.  So, wherever you are, no weather changes in next week or two.

ONLY positive thing, especially those of us in the south:  it will kill the bugs! Yeah.  Down in the south, it has been gettin cold, but only for a day or two at a time, warms up, gets cold again.  We haven't had a bad enough winter where the temps stayed cold for a very long time - like the upcoming week or two.  So fleas, skeeters, bugs, etc.  have been abundant.  So, finally, as bad as this weather is, we do have a bug killing frost now.  The only good thing that I can think of.

So, I guess tomorrow I might as well walk the dogs since it's not getting better right away.  It would be so much better if the winds weren't 5-10 mph from the NW.  If there weren't winds, it would feel so much better.

I just can't imagine you guys up north.  I know you're rolling your eyes at my complaining about where it is here in the south.  Sorry, guys.  It must be completely miserable up there now.  Brrrrrr.

    Glenda,

I've been wondering why you're bothering with the deck.  Unless it's a second story deck that will collapse under the weight of the snow.  How do you peel off frozen jeans w/o losing skin?

The temp here right now is -6 degrees right now. Wind chill -17. The nights still young yet. I bought a heated dog bowl to put water and meat in for the stray kittens around town that I`m feeding. Everyone need a warm meal in this kind of weather.

It is like a second story deck.  Our house has a walk out basement in the front and the deck is over that walk out area.  There are 9 or 10 steps up to the deck from the yard.  It runs the full length of our house and is wide enough that DS can park his Dodge Dakota extended cab fully under it.  It's supported by steel girders, but, the "leg" supports are still wooden and wood can only take just so much weight before it gives.

DS thinks that the steel girders are enough to support it regardless of how much snow Mother Nature dumps on us....he's wrong, and it's a major battle to get him to lift the first shovel full of snow off it.  DH and I have to get out there to shame him into working on it.  No more.  Either he starts pulling his weight or he can live in his danged truck.

Oh, and the jeans?  DH made me get in the tub with tepid water...just what I needed when I was already half frozen, and he peeled them off soaking wet!  That would have made a great video!
