    I can't even get anything but a black screen....guess I don't have something uploaded correctly...dang, I'm working on it.

Around 11am EST today there was a mother baboon (I think) and her babies playing on a log.  It was soooo cute.  She just sat and watched them jump on and off and chase each other.  The, a bit later I saw a herd of gazelle and more baboons at the watering hole.  No lions yet, but I was thrilled with what I saw today!!
    • Gold Top Dog
I saw them too.  I was soo excited.  Now on for the lions...
    • Gold Top Dog
Well, I guess I'm glad I'm not the only one who hasn't seen anything.  I get on as much as possible, but I guess I'm just not looking at the right times.[&:]

Does anyone else think the lion is nothing but skin and bones?  I can clearly see the outline of his bones and the skin just looks like it is hanging on.  Anyone know more about lions?

edited:  ok, the link Gina gave about the camera info also has an area with pics of the animals.  There is a male lion that is just as skinny with ribs showing there as well.

I think he looks emaciated!  Don't know how often they eat and, I'm only used to seeing lions in zoos that are fed regularly.

Well, that's what I thought, too.  It must be a somewhat regular thing since the pic in the photo file on their site showed the same type of look. Hard to look at after you notice the thinness.

I am double Windowing....and I get this feeling that everytime I click onto the other non Africam.com window..there's a conga line of rare and seldom seen African wildlife parading past juggling rocks and riding unicycles....hmmmm  [sm=joker.gif]  [sm=rotfl.gif]

Me too![:D] My husband thinks I'm losing it, sitting here all the time looking at an empty watering hole and getting excited everytime a bird flies by, but I'm so afraid I'll miss something!

I find the fat, bored animals in zoos far harder to look at [;)]

Has anyone been listening to all these noises?  No sightings, but plenty of sounds.  On their forum, someone said it was baboons "barking" as a warning call.

I keep hearing something like it's panting heavily and something "running back and forth".  For the last 20 minutes or so.

Their is something / somethings all around, but not in view of the camera.  They must be all behind the tree!

OK, for anyone watching now, apparently the "white-out" happens everyday about this time according to post on their site. It turned daylight about 10 pm (5 am there time), then the "white out" happened.  They must do something with the camera every day at this time???

Someone commented that they hadn't seen many animals lately B/C the lions were around.

Which explains the panning from the other night.  The camera operater was going home (I read her blog), and she mentioned the lions being around.  Now, if you are in a lodge operating a remote control and lions are in the area, wouldn't you pan around before leaving?   Very brave - I don't think I would leave at darktime anytime.  Got the impression she was, but might not have taken into account the 7 hour time difference.  Either way, even in daylight, I would be panning before going outside!!

Hmm reading Africam blogs now are we? lol...

I think the white out is an issue of the infared used for night filming...there is also one right at twilight. Too much sun for the infared not enough for the day...that's when the conga dancing happens BTW

Darn, I just heard BIG splashing - and no camera on!!

Somebody's taking a bath by the sounds of it. Sounds big.

Gina,  How do you have double windows on your computer all the time?  I have one forum reduced and the name shows up at the bottom of my bar, and I have to hit on it for it to come up and the other gets reduced.

Is there a way to actually watch the camera and run thru this forum at the same time?
    • Gold Top Dog
    Oh, Gina,

You must be right - all the animals around are conga dancing!  You said it!

Yeah, you're right.  They said Karin, the camera operator, must not be there right now to fix it.  But, I couldn't figure out why it did that.  Good thinking about the infrared - your suggestion makes a lot of sense.

IT'S ALL YOUR FAULT, YOU KNOW.   ME READING BLOGS AND EVEN, shudder, OTHER FORUMS POST NOW .   [sm=eek.gif]

Hmmmmm,  so how did you know about the infrared, unless, ahem, you've been reading somewhere else too!  LOL

All I do is minimize both windows...put one off to the lower right hand corner of my desktop (the rest of the site window is just spam aside from the actual camera rectangle) and  the other on top.

Basically you can see the entire window beneath except for one upper corner...if something catches my eye I just click someplace on the camera window and it overlaps the other window.

Maybe the splashing was one of the staff skinny dipping, lmao....maybe that accounts for the daily "white outs"...hmmm....
