Did you see the small grouping of Gnu come drink? Way cool...they had neat stripes on their necks.

No, crap!! I must've missed them!! All I've seen so far were the wildebeests and the impala.

ETA: I take that back - I did see them. I just googled them...wasn't sure what  a gnu was, and it looks almost exactly like the wildebeest aside from the stripes.

That group of four that were drinking were the gnu, right? This is so flippin' cool!! I am so glad you posted this link!

The word Gnu and Wildebeest are interchageable...I use Gnu because it's MUCH easier to type lol []

Once again I am going to blame you Gina. I actually laid down and took a 2 hour nap just so I could get up and watch this at 7am Africam time! My DH just shakes his head.
 
As far as seeing animals, that is pure luck. I am even watching it at work, the boys (read bosses) think I'm nuts, but they indulge me. All I can say is go through the forum threads and read about what was seen and when, and some of the pictures are good. I actually went back and watched listened to the zebra kill which happened a couple of nights prior to Gina making us all addicts.

About logging on:  I found this out:  I had added the africam site to my favorites.  Sometimes I can get on there just fine w/o any problems.  But, sometimes, like just now, it would link, but come up with "media inactive".  So, the thing that was throwing me waaay off was that sometimes I got on by way of "favorites", so I thought I could do that every single time.  But, apparently, that ability is somewhat random, b/c it wouldn't work just now.  But, if I got on the internet the usual log in way, then went to africam, the media was then working.  So, go figure?
 
Just thought I would post this in case others were still having any problems getting the picture. 
 
I saw turtles and wildebeasts this morning.  I then walked the dogs, and came back and read Karin's posting for the day.  Apparently, I missed the turtles "getting it on", this morning.  LOL.

OH man,,,,cool!  I used to watch this cam years ago,,,and NEVER saw a thing. AND the picture was lousy anyway at that time...this is cool. I was on this morning at about 7:30 AM and it was about 4:30 PM there...there was a whole herd of some big things...looked like moose or something,,,some had big horns. Did anyone see it? The camera kept moving around and zeroing in on them... they were seperated pretty good...some were by the lodge where you could see someone walking there. Then the cam went back to the hole and there were birds there. 
Its night time there now I guess...has anyone ever seen anything when its dark there???
Oh yeah, does anyone know how to make it smaller to get to the side of your screen so you can do other things and keep an eye out for animals?
Man oh man,,,I can see how much I'm going to get done around the house now!!  LOL!!!

I, myself, had completely forgotten how to do this and I had to ask Gina earlier in this thread.   To minimize to the small screen, it's the double window icon in between the button at the top right corner where you make the screen totally disapper and where you actually close down the window (the big x).
 
I would get on Africam - it sometimes works best if you get on there first without anything else running - then minimize.  Then hit the internet link again, get on this site, and I would still have the africam on a small screen.  To move the small africam screen, just left click on the header, holding the button down, and move it over to get it to the side out of your way.
 
They do have a full screen of just the camera view if you're not wanting to get onto another site.

They do have pictures in archives, and some link to youtube videos.  The lions have been there at night - I read a link saying there were 8 lions (7 lioness, 1 lion) in the stix pride and they links I saw showed them at night.  I heard a lot of noises, but didn't know what made it a few nights ago.  I think they say the best time is the few hours before dusk and dawn, but seems there have been animals there all times of the day.
