Straw Poll

    Straw Poll

The Bill Gates as President thread got me thinking about the other, more likely, candidates in 2008.  So, of the obvious few below, who would you vote for, who would you not want, and why?  Maybe we can have some early input for the pollsters LOL.

    Hillary Clinton
    Barak Obama
    John Kerry
    Rudy Guiliani
    Mitt Romney
    John Edwards
Whoever else you think might run
    • Gold Top Dog
    Hillary Clinton no
Barak Obama probably not, though he has a great smile
    John Kerry no
    Rudy Guiliani maybe
Mitt Romney don't know who he is
    John Edwards nope

Of course my instinct as a woman of color would be Hilary or Obama....but I wouldn't want  to doom poor Obama...because Wyclef Jean's song is accurate I think.

Rudy is OUT because is is a BSL bigot who hates PB's and would eliminate them....he's also a skeevy cheater.

I think I'd write in Howard Stern.

Right now hands down Obama, but his lack of experience scares me, only the teeniest bit.

    Barak Obama -maybe
    John Kerry - nope
    Rudy Guiliani - hmmmmm

Whoever else you think might run - I like McCain

Hillary Clinton - She's a little conservative for me and I'm not sure she could win... the smear campaigns would be UGLY and I don't wanna see that.

Barak Obama - In 2012 hell yes, but I think it's a bit early in his career.

John Kerry - No thanks, I was an "anyone but Bush" voter in 2004.

Rudy Guiliani - No. Too conservative for me.

Mitt Romney - As a former Mass resident, YUCK no way.

John Edwards - So far he would get my vote... I like his politics, he has personality, I think he would be a good leader and was rather unfortunately tied to Kerry in 04.

Hillary Clinton - I'd love to see a woman President, but I think she's so polarized in this country and there's so much baggage surrounding her that she doesn't have a chance.

Barak Obama - I like this guy, I want to see a whole lot more of him. I think it's a little soon, but you never know what can happen in two years.

John Kerry - I don't think he could recover from that gaffe a few weeks ago about the military service.

Rudy Guiliani - No way. Not a Republican.

Mitt Romney - Don't know who this is.

John Edwards - Like Obama, I think he's still a little green, but I liked him two years ago. As it stands now, I think I'd vote for him. Maybe an Edwards/Obama ticket? Still, so much can happen in primaries that it's anybodies game.

Hillary Clinton - As much as I would like to see a woman president, I hope it's not her.
Barak Obama - he seems like the best choice to me thus far, but I don't see it happening
John Kerry - please don't do a Ross Perot and keep running in every election until the public just gets tired of you
Rudy Guiliani - I don't think I want to comment on him, other than that I probably wouldn't republican unless there were no other choices
Mitt Romney - Haven't even heard of him
John Edwards- another guy who should just give up

Oh I forgot my "write-in"... obviously this is a man who needs a lot of help in the popularity department but I really like Al Gore, his focus on the environment, and the way he has carried himself in politics & the press - with dignity and never pandering to special interests (sometimes to a fault). If I could see him build some momentum I'd love Gore in 08.

Hillary Clinton    In a New York minute.
Barak Obama   Like him lots - charismatic and in tune.  It feels a little early for him.
John Kerry   Well. Yes.  Could do much worse.
    Rudy Guiliani  Nope.
    Mitt Romney   Nope.
    John Edwards  Maaaaayyyybeee.
Whoever else you think might run   I don't really know who's crazy enough to run - this was always one of the toughest jobs in the world, but I think it is even tougher now.

Oh. And while I really do still like Al Gore, I just don't think he can swing it...

Truthfully, I thought I'd be volunteering for Paul Wellstone for President in 2008, but we lost our Senator in a plane accident 9 days before he likely would have been re-elected to his 3rd term.  My political spirit has yet to completely recover.

Hilary Clinton - In a heartbeat, but I don't think she's electable. Too many "I'd never vote for a woman" idiots.
Barak Obama - Like him a lot, but he needs to make himself  better known.  How many people out there are saying "O'Bama?  What part of Ireland is he from?" How many bigots wouldn't vote for a black?
John Kerry - We could do worse.  We have done worse.
    Rudy Giuilani - Nope
John Edwards - Like him a lot, too.
Whoever else?  I'd like to see the GOP run Condy Rice. Not that I'd vote Republican,  but it sure would give the "I'd never vote for a woman" group some food for thought.

You have all given me hope with your "I don't know who he is" answers.  Mitt Romney is the soon-to-be former Governor of Massachusetts who came here simply to use us as a stepping stone to the White House (I'm sure it didn't hurt that we had a weak acting Gov, and are right next door to NH with their first in the nation primary).  His father was George Romney, who ran for President a LOT and never got anywhere.  He's a real slick corporate type who gives me the willies.  Trust me, you'll know who that little millionaire is before too long.
As to Hillary, I would like to see a female President before I die, but I really wish someone was running who had a clean slate and would not attract the mudslinging.
But, while Condy Rice is certainly a brilliant and accomplished woman, I'd prefer that no one from the current administration was the one.
I don't care much for John Kerry.   If what Gina says is true, I would never vote for Guiliani - I know BSL isn't exactly on the national radar screen, but I am not in favor of any legislation that pries too deeply into the private lives of Americans, including which dog breeds they choose to own.
Barak is just the person that the Dems brought out to fire up the troops and the country.  He is well educated and charismatic.  And, a nobody can win the White House.  Who knew Jimmy Carter the year before that election???  Some pundits are saying that if they don't make any glaring errors, that a Hillary Clinton/Barak Obama ticket would be hard to beat.  I'm thinking they may be right.
Of course, we could always just elect Bill Gates.  At least he could help finance the wars he gets us into. [;)]

I'd vote for none of the above.  I'll vote only for the Libertarian candidate.  It might be "throwing my vote away" in a figurative sense, but it's standing for what I believe in.

Here's a link to read about Rudy's anti PB stance and measures, including removing due process (hearings prior to destroying of dangerous dogs)..for their owners.
