I'm going to do it...I'm going to dye my hair

again. I said I wouldn't because it sentences you to a lifetime of hair appts for retouching,...which I HATE. I hate feeling I have to conversate with someone while they do my hair...lol! Beauty shops make me itch...BUT...

I liked the way I felt when I had my Beyonce locks...so I am going to go and do it again. Now I just have to set a date....think I'll go back to the same place as last time. Just had to type it out so I will stick to my guns...lol!

I do my own. Some people don't even know - including people who cut my hair (when I get my hair cut). On the other hand, they ALWAYS know I cut my own hair because I butcher it (I end up with a lot of split ends and I just can't quite get the knack of proper layering). But I can cut it every few weeks that way and keep it shaped - when I'm not lazy - VBG. I'm lucky though that my hair texture is very forgiving - fine but wavy - hides a multitude of sins. [;)]

Oh what I want done I wouldn't even TRY at home lol...it's all over lightening/stripping and then layering of various blondes and browns.

I draw the line at clippering the DH and son's heads hehehe.

This summer I used the dog clippers on my own hair! (they're actually all-purpose electric clippers, but we've only used them on the dogs.) I might have gone a *little* overboard! Actually, it looks great now, four months later!

I hate beauty parlors too, and I do dye and lately have been cutting my own, but boy was I making a mess! Thank God my sister who is my beautician came up from Florida last week and straightened it out.
Go for it Gina I think you would look great in that color hair, you can't get the highlights and low lights at home. I want to see before and afters. I think that Beyonce is one of the most beautiful woman I have ever seen, I rank her up w/ Sophia Loren and Selma.

Beyonce wears wigs just like Tyra Banks.

Good luck with the hair, I am sure it will look good.

Low lighting and high lighting gives volume to fine hair.

I have, thanks to my Latina background..."good hair" [;)

I just need her pics for the color...the last gal did a great job matching it, but I think she's moved someplace else since [:(]

Now I only need a couple hundred thousand for the body sculpting and nip tuck and we'd be in business lmao!

Gina, I dye my own hair. Well, actually, I get a friend or sibling to do it at home. Actually dying my own hair is something I have not tried. I do think that it's better to have it done by a pro the first time. If you do however choose to do it at home at any time, I strongly suggest you go with a Loreal creme product. It's much less messy, as I learned the last time I did my hair with some Clairol stuff.

I have always dyed my own hair, but in the last year or two, I quit doing it. I got sick of spending money on the dye. I ended up with some.... interesting.... shades, a few times. Neon orange and crayola purple, to name the most hideous[:D] It was fun, though! I did let my friend, Dena, do it once. She'd been to cosmetology school. Ugh. It looked absolutely fantastic, but when she got done, I felt like all of my hair was going to fall out of my head. She dyed it, then capped it to highlight, then foiled it to lowlight. I thought it was just going to be gone, LOL. My hair is NOT used to all that fuss!

Last thing it got done was four inches hacked off, over the kitchen trash can. I was happy with how it turned out, but I can't see the back of my head, so you never know....

I love dyeing my hair. I've been dyeing it since I was 13. I started off with burgundy went to red(because of Lady Miss Kier Kirby from Deee-lite), went to a caramel blonde(got that professionally done because I have dark brown hair) and I made the mistake of going back "natural" a few years ago. The girl who dyed my hair dyed it jet black. It was so harsh and it aged me so bad that people were asking me if I was the grandma when Nina Monkeybutt was born(my sister is 4 years younger than me). The reason I wanted to go back dark was because I was tired of dyeing my hair but I couldn't hang. I went back to red. It's an auburn red and it's not too dramatic and it's not too subtle. I actually like it. Everyone says it looks nice.

Anyways, Gina, we need before and after pics! [:D]

At least you girls are still doing it for beauty - I am now doing it to hide my ever advancing age. [:D]
Despite my mixed heritage (French, English, German, Lithuanian, First Nations), I am a blonde (with slightly gray roots).  I do my own, and have for years.  My hairdresser says she thinks I do a good job, but wishes I'd stop hacking away with my grooming shears when I forget to schedule that cut & blow dry. I've been dying my own hair since I was 12. I'm naturally dirty blonde, and for a couple of years I just made myself a lighter, more even blonde. Then for a while I was bright red. I always wanted black hair growing up but my parents would *never* allow it, so finally one day when I was 16 I just got some dye and did it myself and then it was too late- it's pretty hard to lighten black hair. [:D] I absolutely suck at dying my own hair, too. You'd think after all this time I'd be alright at it. I always end up missing a spot or two, and I usually manage to get dye on my neck so I have to wear my hair down for a couple of days while it fades. IMO, that's still better than paying a ton of money to have it professionally done. I'm cheap. [:D]

Funny that this thread caught my eye! I actually bought some hair dye last night. I haven't touched my hair color-wise in about 3 years, and I've been hesitant to start up again, but part of me wants a change!!

I have naturally light brown hair, but I love that super dark espresso brown. We'll see if I get up the guts to actually do it.

Gina, definitely show us some pictures!!
