I'm going to do it...I'm going to dye my hair

My hair has been brown, auburn, blonde....various shades of all.  All except the white-blonde I have done by myself at home.  Lately I have just let it return to natural, which sadly is more grey than anything. [8|]
But I figure its ok to be grey now that I have 4 beautiful grand babies and my oldest son is pushing 30! LOL
I am 46, but my mother was totally grey at 25.

I am sure it will turn out very, very nice.[:D]

I am 33 but started going grey at age 20 (must run in the family…).  So I have been coloring my own hair for about 13 years. I am naturally a mid to dark brown gal but I spent a lot of years coloring the really cool red shades, but got sick of the color fading so quickly.  Then I went to the DEEP espresso browns which I love and I especially love how these shades reflect the light.  Had to stop recently because the grey that was only beginning at my roots is very quickly increasing!

Now I stopped doing my own all the time, and had my stylist do a medium to slightly dark brown all over with dark blond highlights to help cover and blend in the grey more.  It looks good, not what my preference is but “in between” highlights I can add in my own mid brown color to keep the grey at bay a bit.

I completely have no problem going totally grey young, but I would really like to wait till I am at least 40.  Besides, no one believes I am older than 25 anyway so being so grey right  now would probably only look silly. [8D]

My only hope is that I eventually go ALL grey…I think younger looking women who have all silver/ grey hair are really beautiful! Very striking look in my opinion.  ( I think that goes the same for men too…my DH is 43, but has a full head of hair that is now almost 50% grey…I think he will look great all grey! )[;)]

Like Anne, I dye because of the creepy crawly grey (Can. spelling). I have tried a few times having it done professionally and it just ruins my hair. Dead and dry. I use the non permanent colour that washes out. It makes my hair sooo soft and healthy and I never have the root problem. I do it about every 2 months @ about $8.
I have actually decided to stop fighting the battle of aging next year (07). I'm picking a date and starting a graceful journey to natural aging. No more coloured hair, concealers, control tops or anti wrinkle creams - all gone! When people ask me my age, I'm going to add on 10 years and they will think I'm stunning.

BTW my granny is 94 and keeps her hair jet black.

Ok, I guess I am the weird one here (what else is new?[:D]) becasue I don't have grey hair and I have never, EVER dyed it.  It is naturally a dark blonde/light brown and very naturally curly (think Marilyn Monroe waves).  I guess I will have very little grey hair--my mom only has a handful on her head and she is 68!  My sister, OTOH, takes after my dad's side of the family in this respect.  She has been dyeing it for at least ten years--yellow blonde[8|].  Her hair (natural color) is similar to mine with a bit more red in it.

My sister is the skinny one and in HS was the "gorgeous one" (according to a male friend of mine--how's that for a shot to your teenage ego?), so I am finally having the last laugh in at least ONE department--NO grey.  Nanny nanny![:D]

BTW, Ron, how is your new hairstyle coming?  Have you done it up a la Pebbles Flintsone yet?[sm=rotfl.gif][sm=rotfl.gif]
