Ohhhh! I've got a huge crate, so long as he doesn't mind metal.  But, then again, if we're kidnapping him, who cares what he likes?  Do ya suppose we could just get Shadow to PULL him up here and save us a plane ticket?

No, no, no, you guys are going about this all wrong!  Ron goes to your place, you go to HIS.  Woohoo!!  And, I'm coming!  Ron can watch Willow because she wouldn't be into the heat.  Gettin' cowboy hat on right now. . .[sm=wink2.gif]

Brilliant! A vacation from the snow!! But wait...we would have to keep Glenda in a plastic bubble to keep the snakes away.
Lemme go dust off my boots and find a big belt buckle YEE HA!

It's hovering around 90 F here and I just de-poopified the yard and mowed the lawn and broke a sweat. Down here, having ac is a necessity.

No problem, Ron.  We'll keep the a/c on while your gone!  [sm=biggrin.gif]
You still get Willow though, she's not a fan of a/c.

I've had to use the ac down here in winter, on a day or two. But we do have gas central heat. And Shadow. He does sleep on the bed. It is not far from his ancestors. The chukchi, who bred the chukchi dog, which later became known as the Siberian Husky (I think husky is a mispronunciation of the russian word for chukchi) lived with the families. They might sleep in the hut, they might sleep outside. They were expected to be good around the children. It's only when you get up to a 10 or 20 dog pack size that you have to limit housetime. We call them working dogs but in the life of the chukchi, everyone worked. So, there was no delineation between working and pet. Anyway, Shadow puts out some heat. Every night is a one dog night.

But he has to shovel the end of the driveway, right before the plow comes and fills it back in.

OMG, is that not the most annoying thing?!  I swear, the plow drivers would laugh as they nearly buried me as they went by just as I scooped the last shovel-full of snow off the end of the driveway! [sm=angry.gif] Driveway shoveling can be a thankless job!

I get some experience with it. We do get snow and ice here once in a while. Especially if we get an arctic cold front that caroms off of the Great Divide and spills into the Southern Plains. We only had one day of snow and ice here. 12-07-05 to 12-08-05. I took Shadow to be neutered on the 7th and had to leave him overnight. The next day, I woke up to a winter wonderland. The vet opened at 8:00 a.m. So, about 6:30, to borrow an Aussie expression, I'm ruggin' up for going outside. Start the truck to let it warm up. Go back inside and have one more cup of coffee. Then I leave about a little after 7:00. The vet is only about 8 miles away but I'm going to take my time. So, I get there about 7:20. They were already there and didn't have a problem with me going ahead and picking him up. My "ruggin' up" is insulated bib overalls and a matching oversized insulated coat, over pants and shirt and sweater. Welder gloves (because they're lined with pile) and an "American Choppers" watch cap, and sunglasses. Needless to say, Shadow didn't recognize me. I spoke my standard greeting and his ears perked up. I took off my hat and sunglasses and then he knew it was me.

Poor guy wasn't much interested in a walk, even though there was snow on the ground. I imagine he was just a tad sore and certainly freaked out about being in a kennel overnight.
