I've never been so effected by the death of a celebrity before.  I've been crying on and off since Monday and everyone thinks I've lost it.  I didn't know him but it was so great to have him in the world.

I felt the same way too. I normally do not get worked up over celebrity deaths but the death of Steve Irwin really hurt as if I knew him personally. I think it's because I could relate to him as he had an immense love for animals and a passion for crocs like I do my dogs.

What I find really sad and morbid is that the *big* news is that his death was taped and now people are debating whether or not it should be aired.

And we wonder what's wrong with our society.......

I am the same way.  I wouldn't consider myself a huge fan since I only caught his shows off and on but I too found myself very emotional over his passing.  I think it was his passion for animals and also for life that just touched people so deeply.  He was someone who found beauty and pleasure in the simple things and I really admired that.

When I heard, I thought my sister was lying to me.  Unfortunately, she was telling the truth this time.  The same day, I decided to keep one of my sugar glider joeys and have decided to give him a name that pays tribute to Steve Irwin.  I'm still not positive exactly what it will be, but it will fit no matter what since he is a small AUSTRALIAN marsupial.  It's my way of saying thanks to him!
