Joel kicked out... I do not agree with this.

Yes I am taking his side. I'm sorry but I feel as though certain people tried to get Joel kicked out of here. I know and Joel knows taht you did not care for him or his post. but why could you not just BLOCK him. That's the whole point of the block feature. It's not fair, and I do not agree with him being banned. Joel brought alot to the board, and though he offended some, it's a free country, free speach. If you don't like a tv show are you going to watch it? If you don't like Joel why would you even bother to respond to him. Sorry, to  "p" off some of you, but I just really enjoyed his post, he was a lot of fun. He didn't call anyone nasty profanity like some others.

Since I think the OP would be upset if  I posted the dancing icon here... I'll just say,

No one but Joel got Joel banned. He had plently of warning time to clean up his act. I don't think it was a matter of the responses to him, it's that he actually posted offensive material in the first place.

    Edited to add:

it's a free country, free speach

Not here... not on a message board where you have to sign up and agree to the rules.

If Joel has been banned, it is because of his own actions.

Everyone who comes to this board is required to agree to the Terms of Service.  Everyone who participates on this board has 2 three day suspensions before they are banned.  I know for myself that if I were suspended, I'd be pretty danged careful when I came back.  If I were suspended a SECOND time I'd be walking on eggshells, unless I truely didn't care about being a part of idog.  JMHO tho.

Anyone know what finally did him in?

As in what comment... I KNOW it was his actions or whatever... I'm just wondering about what comment...

Jaime doesn't discuss members or former members with any of us, so since Angel knows he got banned, maybe he told her?

Some of what Joel did/said was funny, but not all.  And the fact that he couldn't learn from his mistakes, well, that says something too.  To me, it seemed that he was just looking for attention and when he didn't get it, he resorted to not-so-funny-stuff.

I'm sorry that anyone has to get kicked out to begin with but before Joel returned, there were no posts that offended anyone....  though it's more lively with Joel around, he can be a bit of a pest....

Something in [linkhttp://forum.dog.com/asp/tm.asp?m=12756]this thread[/link] most likely.

Your probably right! When the big cheese has to pop in and ends a thread like that it usually spells T*R*O*U*B*L*E!

Cest La Vie I suppose. I mean as much as I enjoyed joking around with Joel if he's gone he's gone.
They've got the power to evict anyone whos not playing nice and they don't even have to give warnings...(But it's nice that they do)

    Let's be honest here, though-
    • I never saw him once contribute anything productive to dog ownership in the forum.
    • He almost always made comments the majority of forums members found offensive.
    • He instigated many arguments that caused other contributing members to leave
    • He was allowed much more latitude to make comments than others were.

You're right - the "block" feature works wonderfully, which is why I have been able to ignore pretty much all his comments.

MySpace is a free service with a blog feature - perhaps his comments will be better received there.

In response to the subject line, and yes, I do know how rude I will seem in saying this but, it doesn't matter.

Of all the things he's said and done it was THAT? [8|] Whatever. I guess as someone who has been on and off Zoloft I found it wonderful to find someone else who finds humor in the situation. DH and I call them my "Happy Pills."

I have to agree, particularly with the first point. For the most part, I avoided his threads and scrolled past his posts, and when the new board went up, I used the block feature. It's difficult to follow a thread when there's random stupidity in the middle of it followed by posts in reponse to it. I'm very comical, and I'm also extremely hard to offend, but quite frequently, his posts were beyond insensitive. I didn't take personal offense to anything in particular, but I can understand how others would be offended. So that's my two cents.[sm=peace.gif]

I'm going to agree with Angel and Sally on this one - if you don't like someone and you're given a way to block them, use it. It's easy now to see who started a thread - if it's started by someone who annoys you, don't read any of it.

I read that thread through and personally, it wasn't the title that ruffled my feathers.  It was his reactions to those that responded and said they were offended.  He continued to harangue them.  Then he started making jokes about women in particular.  THAT is what ruffled my feathers.  He didn't stop, he didn't apologize, and then he made it worse by attacking women in general with his crude jokes.  And Liz is right, he didn't contribute anything to dog ownership except to start stuff.

Some people are here to learn, and others to educate.  I did notice from some of his posts that he DID read and learn from the various threads on nutrition and training.  I don't post on anything I don't know about either, and even when I do, some people will find me wrong.  I didn't take offense to Joel's humor most of the time, but can understand why he did not seem to be a contributing member...he was learning, and that is OK.  That is what this forum is for!
