    Are We TOO Puritanical??

Nope.  Not offended at all.  But then, I nursed both my kids (and took them with me everywhere, so they were nursed in any number of places) and I was a La Leche League Leader for 10 years.  What does offend me is the idea that anyone would find this offensive. [:D] Does that make sense?

And yes, we are way too puritanical about ridiculous things.

Perfectly clear, Joyce.  I couldn't agree more.  The reason we HAVE breasts is to nourish our infants, not to titalate men  This picture is of the womans breast being used in the way it was intended.

    Yes.

No. why would I be? I BF both my kids for a bit. I will admit to feeling baby envy tho from the pic, they grow up so fast! [;)]

Im not offended in the least bit.
I find that photo to be beautiful and pure.

I do too. Some people always have to make a fuss about something though.

i am no more offended by seeing a woman breastfeed than i am seeing puppies drink from their mother..

What the heck is wrong with people that all they have to worry about is the most natural thing, and the one thing (or two i should say lol)that has kept humans alive for these thousands of years...i really dont understand the big deal.

Nope does not bother me. I BF all 3 of my kids. So it's all their fault they are not as pretty as they once were. [&:] Oh well, I could always buy new ones. (ya right)

I'm not offended at all. Not being religious but if God made the human body, then what is wrong with it? It is only those with sick minds that see such a thing as awful.

I am amazed that 5,000 mothers wrote in to express outrage - and these are people buying a magazine about baby care?!?! I'm sorry but I find it bizarre and actually sad that women who have children would describe that photo as "gross" and "horrific."
    • Gold Top Dog
Of course it's not offensive.  What do these people think breasts were made for?
    • Gold Top Dog
That is a beautiful picture. I breastfed my son for a few months and let me tell you it is the most beautiful experience that a woman can have. Is this a recent issue?

I subscribe to babytalk and if it is new, im wondering, where is my issue?!?

A local radio show was discussing this pic.  I don't think it's offensive at all.  I think it's a bit weird that women can walk around in public wiuth their boobs practically popping out of what they are wearing, but if someone is , God forbid, feeding their CHILD then it is all of the sudden offensive.

There was one guy that called up the radio show and said that he thought that women who breastfed in public were just doing it for attention[8|].  It's like OK, then I'll just come sit next to you when I'm on a plane and my child is screaming because it's hungry, and I can't feed it because it would obviously be for attention.

If I do have children, I plan on breastfeeding, and if it has to do it in public, so be it.  While I would try to be discret about it, if someone doesn't like it, tough skittles.

For a long time I lived in a country where breast feeding was the norm.  Women would just pull out a breast and feed the little tykes anywhere.  Nobody batted an eye.
