Once a week chat thread would be fine with me.

Ok! I will keep an eye out! :)

I would not mind a once a week either.  Seems like lately I can barely get by here.  I know you will prolly be seeing more of me once I get that new hip.  I will be bored to tears withing the first week I am sure.

Ginger, when are you having surgery?  My memory stinks. lol I think it will be great to have you around more often. :)

Jackie - I just did some catching up -- I am so sorry to hear of the loss of your brother in law.

Ginger -- wow a new hip?  That should help.  Every time a dr. starts to think of a replacement part for me they look at the psoriasis and say "however you are not a good surgical candidate".

Karen -- glad to see Bugsy is up to his usual race thru life!  But jobs can make all of us crazy.

Tina -- have a good time.  Those are my favorite kind of get away.

Doug congratulations on the new pup.

Floor-daa is in the Monsoon Season and this year it is really wrecking havoc.  The lakes are SO high and there is standing water everywhere (which is rare for Florida).

When I took the PT back in Sunday I then left a nice little voicemail on the service manager's voicemail asking him to get involved.  Suddenly yesterday I got a call from my "new" service advisor  that they had found  badly damaged/worn bushings on the ball joint/lower control arm -- so bad that they could have caused an accident.  But that this is likely causing "the noise" that they have blown me off so many times.  THIS matches what I've seen and have described to them many times -- so NOW they find it??  Now I have to go head to head with the service manager to find out what HE is going to do for **me** since they didn't have to deal with the lawsuit that would have happened had I gotten wrecked.

Such is life.  Charlie sez it can stop raining any time!

I like the idea of a weekly chat thread, too.  It'll be more manageable to read, yet still easy to find if it's "stickied" at the top.

Ginger, we'll be sure to provide you with as much fun and frivolity as we can muster during your recovery!

Callie, I'm glad you got your car trouble figured out.  It is so frustrating when they can't find (or say they can't find) the source of a problem you KNOW exists, since you drive the darn car every day.

DH's sister, her husband, and their daughter arrive tomorrow.  I'll have a late night doing housework and whatnot tonight.  It'll be interesting to see what they think of my MIL.  It's been a year since they've seen her, and as much as she's failed in the past 2-3 months, they'll see a huge difference.  We're also interested to see how she (MIL) behaves around them.  She definitely needs the help we're giving her with laundry, errand running, handling bills and paperwork, etc., but she behaves much more "needy" and incapable around DH than she does around her daughters.  When my other SIL was here last month, my MIL was downright perky and upbeat.  With DH, she's either seriously depressed and saying she wants to die, or she lashes out in anger at the littlest thing he says or does that is only meant to help her.

Anyway, the primary reason for their visit is to spend time with my MIL, but the 5 of us are going to spend a day or two at the beach at some point so we can all get a little break.  It'll be the only mini-getaway we'll take for the rest of the summer.

Jackie, I don’t have a surgery date yet, my first appointment with the surgeon is Aug 27th.  I have had great feedback from former patients of his so I am thrilled about that but….I wish it was sooner than the 27th cause I know he will have to run some “pre-op” tests and the last several days have been difficult enough that I am just ready.  I really need to get my “stuff” together between now and then while I am able, sorta.

Ok Tracy I will look forward to fun and frivolity :)

Tracy (hugs) with the MIL stuff.  I am so fortunate to have a wonderful relationship with my MIL but...that being said I don't think either of us would like to live together :)

Gin I sure hope that everything goes well with your surgery and you are OK until it happens. I know it is horrible to have to wait

Tracy I wish you loads of fun and plenty of patience for MIL

Well my decision has been made - I was seriously looking at adding a puppy - a GSP to the family but I can't. I will slammed again for weeks at work and although I had backup plans it isn't how I want it to go. DH was also not wanting full responsibility for house training and truthfully he would have to do it all day. He is either here or close and I am 45 minutes minimum from home and I have to be on site for at least most of August.

I am devastated. Truly. I had found a couple of very nice litters, and really feel like B is still nutty enough to tolerate a pup.

So it is on the back burner for now. And I am fairly broken hearted

Karen, I know you were so looking forward to getting a puppy soon. I'm so sorry that the timing isn't right.  I'd give you a pep talk but I doubt you're ready for anything but a big hug right now.  (((Karen))).

Gin, I'm sorry you've got to wait so long on the new hip.

I'm so irritated about the lack of notice concerning my BIL's funeral.  Now I've got to see if I can get a flight and a hotel room on short notice.  Today at work is crazy with a bid meeting and site visits. I'm feeling very cranky and the day has hardly started.

I'm back! We had a nice time, wore our black socks & sandals, plaid shorts & Hawaiian shirts and did the tourist thing. We ended up not having enough time to go to Whitefish Point. As soon as my friend sends me the pics, I will post.

I have so much mail to open that I'd best get to it.

    • Gold Top Dog

((Karen))  that really stinks that you have to put the puppy on the back burner for now.  I know you've had puppy fever for quite a while.

    ((Jackie))

Welcome back, Tina, so glad you had a nice trip!

The only thing you were missing was a camera around your neck, Tina!  Looking forward to seeing your photos.

Karen, I'm sorry you have to postpone the puppy plan.  I'm sure you're feeling sad.  Hopefully in the not too distance future you can make it work.

Jackie, I hope the airline tix aren't too expensive on such short notice.

SIL and family will be here in a couple hours.  Lazy hostess that I am, I have two frozen lasagnas from Trader Joe's for dinner.  I will make a salad and warm some bread and call it good.  My specialty is a clean house, but that's where my hostess skills end!

Our hotel. The gulls would roost all over the roof. There are signs everywhere telling you not to feed them. We really didn't see any other birds except gulls.

Honeysuckle by the shore. It pretty much takes over everything, but I still thought it was pretty.

Me in front of the "Mystery Spot" in St Ignace (in the UP). It's supposed to be natural, and things seem to defy gravity. I'm pretty sure it was simply the way the building was constructed and played on optical illusions. A total tourist trap, but fun nonetheless. (I don't know who the girl is on the left.)
