An iDog brunch tour! Count me in as the host for the Pacific NW, and as a guest at Jackie's spot and any other favorites you guys have!
Julie, I'm so sorry to hear about your grandpa and uncle -- deaths of loved ones are never easy, but if they were unexpected, that can add a certain kind of sadness and grief. How nice you were able to speak at your grandpa's services. I admire anyone who is able to give a lovely eulogy; it is comforting to remember special things about the person, things that are happy, not just sad. I'm sure everyone enjoyed the memories you shared.
That reminds me: For some reason, I came across the full text of the eulogy that Bruce Springsteen gave at Clarence Clemons' funeral, and it was excellent -- a perfect mix of sentiments: love, respect, friendship, sadness, humor. The guy writes like a poet, that is for sure. But I remember thinking that Clarence's family must've loved it - such a great summary of his life, not too sugar-coated, but full of love.
Congrats on the job awards -- that's cool. And also cool how Abbie tuned into your emotional vibe. I've heard stories about how some pets know when their person is sad or ill, but I can't say I've ever experienced it myself. I'm sure it's more common in dogs who are trained or genetically predisposed to be alert and hyper-aware of their surroundings, but I imagine people have noticed it in their "average" pets, too. That's pretty neat!
