Wish you guys with the autumn-like temps could send them my way.  It's been crazy hot --  we rarely use A/C at night.  But the past week or so it's been getting a workout.

I really like the name Ryder for the new pup!  The reference to the classic "A Christmas Story" BB gun is a bonus, but even without that, the sound of it suits a dog of his breed and personality, I think.

Ginger, your reunion comment gave me a chuckle.  My mother didn't go to any of her reunions until she was in her 60's -- and she felt the same way when she walked in and saw all these "old people."  She looks younger than her age (mainly because she colors her hair), so she was feeling pretty good that evening!

I'm meeting some friends tonight at a neat little spot for dinner -- it's kind of a "girly" place.  It has a French bistro vibe (complete with the background music), and they have lots of fun cocktails, from classics like Old Fashioneds, to newfangled things like the Spa Martini (it has cucumber in it).  Since I'm a wimpy drinker, I go for the ones that are fruity and pastel colored!  Tongue Tied

Kaitlin, when I logged in, the thread was about 3 posts down the right-hand column until Ginger posted. Now it's at the top left. I don't see the "sticky" symbol.

    • Gold Top Dog

I see the sticky symbol if I click on the Discussion Forums menu option near the top right corner, but if I just go to the main page when I open the website, I don't see this thread near the top.  Maybe it depends on the view style that's selected?

Hi -- sorry I've been so absent, but work has been brutal and the back stuff has still been a huge problem, made far far more so by the fact that I just can *not* take the pharmaceuticals and every time I get forced into it, it just means more problems, more time.  So, that "whine" over ...

everyone    on this end is fine -- Charlie's been with us now three years and the abused dog inside is healing and he's even got the confidence now to be "stubborn" (he is, after all, a spaniel!)  and he definitely has "dad" wrapped around his tail (not that David would ever admit to that!).   Luna's being her typical horse's patoot self most of the time.  Tink, surprisingly, is maturing into quite the lovely girl.  She watches out for Charlie (both girls do), AND Mom  and  ensures that the floor stays clean clean clean of any and all food particles.

My Dad turns 90 on August 25, so we're going north to visit.  I'm just hoping Mom doesn't "change her mind"  (typical Mom response about 1 week away from leaving "You know, this really isn't a good time, you'd better not come.";) but I'm going to get adamant -- Pa is 90 and I want to see him.  His health isn't a bit good, and they really haven't prepared  for this, and I'm an "only" child.  so ... que sera sera ...

Gotta get back to work.    *waving*

Thank you! I am on it!

I never did see a green sticky symbol or whatever but when I come here, this thread is always at the top. I use the window pane format (for lack of a better description) not the one Tracy and maybe Tina use. Sometimes this thread is on the left and other times the right but always on top. :)

Nothing much going on here.  The dogs are all fine. I'm trying to get caught up at work which is not going to happen until this winter. lol  Maybe if I could stay off the internet I'd be more productive.  :)

Tracy, that place you're going tonight sounds really neat.  Have fun. Sorry you've got such hot weather.  My coworker was supposed to go salmon fishing in Portland this weekend but the trip got cancelled.  I was telling him how cool it is in the PNW, except when these weird weather things happen. lol

Tracy, that place you're going tonight sounds really neat.

I thought so too, do you think we should crash the party, I am feeling like something fruity and pastel :)

Callie I am so sorry that you are having back issues.   I was thinking that it has been a while since we saw pics of the 3 , Luna, Tink, Charlie.  It doesn't seem like you have had Charlie that long.  What a lucky boy he was to find you and David and his other 2 sisters .

    • Gold Top Dog

Has it really been 3 years already?  Time is flying!  I hope your back issues are healing up.

Enjoy the fruity-pastel drinks, Tracy.  I like them too, but sometimes they are just too sweet.  Sounds like a cool place, I hope you have fun.

I use the "Discussion Forum" page and this thread is always at the top and has the word Sticky in green in the top left.  Maybe the programing is only working in certain views :(

I am ready to go home, but still 2 more hours before I can leave.  This week seems to be dragging.  But that's probably because I am really looking forward to the weekend.  The kids are staying with DH's parents and we are going out with a friend for her 31st birthday.  We get to ride in a limo!!!  I've never been in one before and am super excited :D

    • Gold Top Dog

Have fun this weekend, Steph.  I'm sure you'll both enjoy an adult only evening and a limo ride makes it even better.  I've never ridden in one either. I'd probably embarrass myself acting like a hillbilly or something. lol

I clicked on the Discussion Forum and saw the green sticky.  That sounds like I've been drinking, doesn't it? :)

Hey all! It seems that this conversation will not show as sticky on the home view, but if you click on the discussion forums section it will be at the top everytime! Sorry about the trouble! Thanks for being so great! :)

It is absolutely glorious today, woke up to 60* and it is 80* at lunch time, I am sitting outside eating cherries and thinking they are another food that is a bit awkward to eat in public !

Not much else going on, looks like I am booked on this contract for a LONG time. That is good although it may interfere with one of my personal plans. I have to make that decision this weekend as I have been dragging along for a couple of months on it.

Ah well back to work I guess

    • Gold Top Dog

Thanks for following up, Kaitlin. Smile

Karen, you are right about cherries - the red stain, the pits - I find them to be a lot of work when I am wearing work clothes. I will invariably ruin any shirt I really like. Embarrassed

The weather here is beautiful, too.

ETA: Julie, I have the same problem with my hair. The humidity = instant poodle look.

Three years already, Callie?  No way -- it seems like you just rescued Charlie!  I hope you get to celebrate with your Dad as he reaches such a milestone birthday.  That calls for some pretty special cake!

Cherries are my favorite fruit -- when they are in season (like they've been recently), I eat them until I have the worst stomach ache, but I don't care.  Yes, they are troublesome to eat when you're not at home to spit the pits in a napkin, but as for the stained fingers, that's not a problem when you eat Rainier cherries.  They've got gold/yellow/reddish skins, with light colored flesh, so no staining.  And they are SO sweet!  They are my favorite kind.

Speaking of delicious foods, dinner last night was delicious.  Despite it being 90+ degrees out, I couldn't resist rigatoni pasta covered in slow-cooked pork shoulder in rich tomato sauce.  Oh my doG, it was so good, I nearly licked the plate clean!!  My drink was a lavender martini -- cranberry juice was the fruit base, glass lined with lavender sugar.  Also good!  We had salted caramel pots de creme for dessert, served with black lava salt, so each bite was smooth, sweet, salty, and crunchy all at once.  We shared it between 4 of us, but we each could've devoured one alone!

One of the few things I like about the climate here:  no humidity in summer.  The big hair thing is more of a problem in winter when it's rainy, but not as bad because it's cold and humid, not warm.
