    Welcome Wednesday - Banter

Well, we are getting blasted again here in the northeast...ugh. I'm praying for spring. I think all of us are working from home today to be safe, we are getting hammered with ice and snow. For those in the south....send us some heat...everyone under the blanket of snow and ice please be safe out there if you have to go out.

Being an outdoor person I feel like I'm trapped. I'll stop complaining now. I guess the positive thing is I'm getting a lot done around the house....

Have a good day everyone...Big Smile

Today is my normal work from home day and thank god because we got another 4 or more inches last night and it's still snowing. I'm so happy to be still sitting in my pjs, drinking coffee and going through emails.

My neighbor plowed my driveway last night and you can't even tell this morning. Bummer that I didn't even get to enjoy a plowed driveway for 24 hours. It's so sad it's funny.

This week has been hell at work. Everything has gone to chaos since my boss retired. I think management is really starting to see how much he actually did that they never knew about. Hopefully this will push them to get a replacement soon. They knew he was retiring for about a year and didn't work to get a replacement during all that time. There's no excuse for that. He could have been training his replacement before he left.

I can't even imagine dealing with all that snow!

Julie, that's so stupid that they didn't replace your boss.  Boneheads.

I don't feel I can talk about the weather without getting hate mail.  Lets see, what else is new. lol I had a Pop Tart for breakfast.  I haven't eaten a Pop Tart in years and years and years.  It made me think of Twister.  He loved the corners. :)

I love the show Elementary.  The lead character's facial expressions are priceless.  He's supposedly British (not sure if he is in real life) and DH can't understand a word he says.  I get so annoyed at having to have the captions turned on.  It distracts me so much I find I'm not watching the actors so much as reading the stupid captions.  I know , how mean of me. The entire premise of the show is completely ridiculous but I like it anyway. :)

    Hello all,

JackieG you are lucky, snow is not fun. Jewlieee hope things get better at your job, you have to wonder sometimes what people are thinking. I'm stranded at home no work for me today not going to risk it. Going to get some laundry done hooray! Stay warm and safe everyone.

Jackie, it's not your fault you chose to live in Texas and some of us live where it is cold and snowy. If my office were transplanted to a warmer climate, I'd go willingly. Darn home ownership and job keep me here. If only I'd stayed in Virginia Beach 20 years ago instead of letting my then-DH convince me to move back here. I left Michigan on purpose because I don't like the cold, yet here I am. Someone give me the dunce award. Confused

haha. I bet you are really regretting it now!

That's sort of the reason why our management said it took so long to get my bosses position going. They had to fight for the position to stay at the current pay grade (HQ wanted to downgrade it), but since nobody wants to move to MI, keeping it at the higher pay grade will help get people to apply. At least that's the theory. The job isn't posted yet.

gah, i just burned the garlic toast I was baking for lunch.

and yes Jackie, if you get hate mail it might just be from me ;p

It's not snow, but it's been raining in the UK since Dec 9. Craving the sun even more than normal. Roll on Spring.

    • Gold Top Dog

Julie, my head has been hurting.  Coincidence? :)

Jonathan, all I can say to that much rain is, yuck!  We could use some rain but that long would drive me bonkers.

Tina, I didn't choose Texas but I'm glad I was born here.  The politicians are idiots but that's true just about everywhere.

We've got very cold temps here (it was 26 when I left the house --- I know that's balmy for you folks used to single digits!).  But it's very, very sunny, so that is A-OK with me!

Usually we're dealing with what you describe, Jonathan --- weeks of continuous rain in the winter.  This year is record-breaking with lack of rainfall, to the point that it will create problems with water supply in the summer (which is always super dry).  But I must admit, I'm very glad we've NOT had the endless rain this winter.  It does more than just drive me bonkers!

Julie, I hope things get worked out with your boss' replacement soon.  What were they thinking not getting someone hired before he left -- with a year's notice??

Don't you hate when you have your work day all planned out -- with tasks outlined, scheduled for certain points of the day, all with the goal of finishing things in the proper time, in an organized fashion --- but then someone throws a wrench into it with a change in THEIR plan that also affects yours?  Well that just happened this morning, so I will now have a very chaotic day, trying to juggle a few different hats, yet still having to reach the deadlines I already had.  Ugh.  Good thing I have a stash of Snickers bars in my drawer.  I will be raiding that more than once today, I think!!!

Hi everyone!! I haven't been on here in ages and hope I haven't missed any really big news.

I don't envy everyone dealing with more crummy weather. Seems worse this year but maybe I always think that. We're doing a rain dance out here these days. The forecast shows some rain in the next few days, so I hope it's right.

Jackie - we watch Perception too and I like it okay but felt like it's gotten a little stale this year. Might be that it pales in comparison to The Following if you like more blood and guts ;)

I'm more slammed at work than usual and it's going to get worse. We're supposed to move to the building next door in a couple weeks, we have a Board mtg right after that and our accreditation visit is around the corner. We're interviewing for an admin asst on the 19th and that should ease my workload a ton when she starts. Both of the women interviewing currently work for us and are perfect for the job, so it's going to be a tough decision.

Okay - back to the grind but I wanted to stop in before everyone forgets who I am :)

Well, the first foot of snow has been dealt with.  DS will have to go out and clear the sidewalk and walkway to the mailbox later, but for now.....

I measured the snow on top of the station vehicle that DH brought home last night....ours is still in the shop...and it was 14 inches.  Light powder but still a LOT of snow to clean off and then move out of the way.  The only tough area to shovel was down by the road.  Because we live on a major through way, we get TWO plows, sometimes 3, one behind the other.  One does the right lane, the next pushes out part of the breakdown lane, and the third is the one that pushes it all into the driveway.  Today the third plow was smaller and later than the others, and since we were out there working, DS asked him if he could try not to fill in the driveway again and if he would knock down some of the stuff on the far side of it, which is the only place we can put it without having it come right back in the driveway.  Bless the man he did just that, and actually cleaned in front of the driveway too.  I know these guys have a really tough job to do, but some of them seem to get downright giddy when they can fill in a just cleaned driveway!  It was so nice to get a really NICE one who went beyond the call of duty.

Cathy, nice to see you pop in.  We don't watch Perception. I've never heard of that show. lol  It's Elementary I was talking about.   Good luck on getting an new admin assistant.

    • Gold Top Dog

Sorry Jackie - LOL!! I meant to say "Elementary". Perception is actually a favorite of mine and starting back up again soon. You should check it out. I clearly watch wayyyy too much TV  if I can't even keep them all straight.

Hi all, crawling out of the ice and snow to say Hi. I have been going to work all week, wish there was a way to "work from home" on these awful days. I know those that are further north will laugh but we don't have the equipment so we pretty much come to a stand still. However I work for a utility and therefore we don't close even if some cant make it in there is always a few that live close. I guess I just get to feeling guilty if some go in and I don't. Sunday was Rocky's 6th gotcha day. Ron and I were talking about how beautiful the weeked of Feb 3 2008 was. Sunshine and 60's unusual for a Feb in Arkansas. Then this year....6 inches of snow with a bottom layer of ice....in the single digits, lol. I gave Rock a bath on Saturday night so he would be soft and shiny. Ok the phones are ringing off the hook gotta stay safe and warm

Happy belated Gotcha Day Rocky!  Stay safe, Gin!
