Mindless Wed

Hi  pitsRcool!  Welcome, your dog is  very cute.   She kinda reminds me of another Pitty on here, her name is Veronica and she has similar coloring.  

Speaking of mindless....I did a double take at the title....it's WEDNESDAY already?  Wow!

I could NOT figure  out why I was so darned cold today.  Granted the windchills haven't hit positive numbers yet, but it was 17 and really sunny.  Got home a few minutes ago and realized my feet were wet.  Through every single layer.  My boots are waterproof, but even if they weren't, there is no water to walk in, not even any slush since nothing is thawing so will have to figure out where they are leaking since both feet were wet.

We are supposed to have a bit of a warm up on the way.  mid twenties to mid 30's for the next several days.  IF that happens, what a relief!

Can't believe the weather in GA!  Hope people will think before they go out on the roads.

Tina absolutely hit the nail right on the head.  People in the North do tend to over estimate their ability to drive in just about anything, but the x4 and AWD vehicles often turn drivers into idiots because they *think* those are the best thing since tires without intertubes and they certainly HELP traction, but.........and I have to agree with the frozen brain cells also.

Everyone is right....Doug's puppy stories are a riot..  Of course, his cold weather stories are a hoot too!

Tracy, I must need new glasses because I just looked really hard and can SEE a dog in your avatar!

well yes NC has come to halt due to snow & ice and cold.

I almost had to drive in to work (35 miles) but in the end didn't and that is great news because the roads were horrible. As some one who grew up in NY where if it wasn't an Apocalypse you went to work/school it still sort of fascinates me how things in the South come to a halt. They have to though or stuff like what happened in Atlanta happens. We had a very similar incident here in 2005. But today was evidence again - no plowing or treatment of the interstates had occurred by even 10 this morning. They were horrible, never mind local roads.

Anyway - I need to go read Doug's puppy story because B is 8.5 and had a 'puppy' day in which selling him or giving him away seemed a very reasonable solution

That was it Gin, I am not often able to work from home these days and with the added stimulation of snow he was way too bouncy

People who live without snow don't understand that those of us in snow areas live prepared for snow at all times.  All season tires with mud/snow ratings.  Snow tires.  Emergency kits with extra clothing, blanket, shovel, tow strap, candy bars, boots,  We have a 9 month possible snow season.  Realistically, Nov to March, but we can get snow in most any month.  I have a book for Minnesotans that describes life in our fair state and includes survival tips. such as how to field dress a deer in the back seat of a car.

We do have our share of drivers who have to relearn everything every time they see snow, and we have many who believe 4wd makes them invulnerable.  They can usually be found stuck deep in ditches or sliding on their roofs.  Thanks to 4wd, they can get really deep into a snow bank.  Slow and gentle.  Leave lots of space, slow down early.  Seat belts.  Black ice and finger drifts are out to get you .

Meanwhile, Spawn is piddling and dumping closer to the door every day..  Then he grabs a slipper and runs across the room.  Catch him, and he licks your hand and gives you the big brown eye treatment.

OMG!  Doug, I keep the survival kit in my own car...a change of clothes, including coat, dry socks and boots, in my case it's packages of peanuts and cheese and crackers, a blanket and a candle in a can since candles give off heat and the can makes it more fire safe.

I laugh so hard about that pup!  The kiss and the big brown eye treatment will get you every time!
