Hi Marty! I was thinking of you when I saw the news reports about Georgia this morning. I'm glad you're faring well. It's true about just staying put during horrible weather. I'm always amazed at people who insist on going out anyway. Seriously -- unless you have a boss who is without any compassion or common sense or your job is of vital importance, just stay home. And surely other errands and activities can wait.
I felt so bad for the kids who had to spend the night in their schools -- can you imagine how that would be for a 5 year old? At first it might be fun, but I bet for a lot of kids, it got pretty scary when they wanted to go home to their parents and their own beds. Poor things.
Jackie, having kept stray dogs overnight on 3 or 4 occasions, I know just what you mean about feeling bad when you bring them to the shelter. Only once did we find the owner of a dog (thanks to Craig's List, not an ID tag). The other dogs were all sweet, and one in particular really tugged at our hearts, but we did find out she was adopted. I hope the little dog you found has a happy ending, too!
I have the best auto mechanic. Yesterday when my car was ready, I was prepared to have DH come get me at work and drive me over there to pick it up, but my mechanic said he'd come get me. He said he needed to get out of the shop for a few minutes. So, he picks me up in my car and says he wanted to test the heat on the drive over because he flushed some line or something out -- to see if it would help a bit and buy me time from that $1,000 repair. Lo and behold, it was noticeably warmer! Not 100%, but my feet weren't chilly like before. So, for $100, I got my oil changed, new wipers, and this temporary fix, so I'm a happy camper (or driver, that is)!
