    Wed-nes-day chit chat

    Good luck today Karen!

It is downright chilly this morning. Made for a cold bike ride in to work. Definitely not August weather, even for Michigan.

Sarah, being a parent is the hardest job you'll ever have. Kids sure don't come with instruction manuals.

Doug, I hope your beer is cold by the time you get to it today.

    Jackie, how was TNR training?

Morning all!  Downright chilly here this morning too.  Yesterday was supposed to be hot and humid but instead we got cool and humid, mostly in the form of rain just dumping all day.  It'll be nice to actually be able to wear a suit today and not be worried about overheating half way through the day.

I think it's Tina who mentioned growing yellow pear tomatoes?  Oh my gosh, those are so very good!  And the orange cherry tomatoes are so much sweeter than the red.  Tried a few new things this year and am happy with all the new choices.

Karen, congrats on the new gig, whatever it is.  I hope it will be everything you hope for.

Off to work for me....have to get stuff done early so I can go in and proof the paper after lunch.

    Wishing everyone a great day!

It was much more interesting than I had anticipated.  The presenter and sponsor of the class was the San Antonio Feral Cat Coalition.  Though I don't plan on doing any colony trapping, except for the shelter program, I took away a lot of information that was convincing as far as the efficacy of the TNR approach.

Weird that you've got such cool weather, Tina.  Come on down to Texas and you'll have all the heat you could possibly want.  We're only supposed to get up to 98 today and all the local weather forecasters were trying to put a positive spin on the "cool down". lol

Sending good thoughts for Karen's first day at her new gig.

Tina -- wish I could blow some of my heat to you. Now that the rain has dialed back it's just plain hot as heck. But that's August in Florida for you.

    Good luck Karen.

    Have a good day all.

Ditto.  I'm betting she went with the black shoes.

I forgot to tell you guys  . . . I took Jamison to the Vet last week for his annual shots.  He's lost six pounds since this time last year !!  Woot ! Woot !

Now, if only I could do the same.

I smashed my toes on something this morning. Again.

We took my niece, the two year old, not the baby, over to the local grange fair this morning. The rides don't open till 12, so we'll go back for that tonight, but we saw the animals. She liked that. She also was pretty thrilled about seeing the fair queen (the princess). But, the princess went somewhere else and we couldn't find her again. She went back to the castle of course. They have the usual farm animals, and draft horses that a farm brings over. They have rides, but that wasn't going yet either. We did feed the kid funnel cake, cause we're good to her.

Funnel cakes . . .  now that's a treat I haven't enjoyed in a long time.  Now I'm craving one!  I'm also craving a BLT, ever since reading Doug's post late last night!

Jamison -- care to share your dieting secret?  I'm sure it doesn't include funnel cakes, whatever it is!

Good "first day" vibes for Karen.  Wonder how well she slept last night?  :-)

We're feeling some crispness in the air in the mornings here, too.  In fact, it was 59 when I got up this morning.  But, high expected to be 84 by late afternoon, so layered clothing is required.

SIL & BIL arrive this evening.  I got some cleaning done last night -- need to do a few more things when I get home from work today.  I'm not doing the high-powered cleaning I did when they came earlier this summer.  This B&B hostess is starting to get lazy.  Case in point:  I'm stopping at Trader Joe's on my way home and picking up frozen lasagnas for dinner.  I'll make a salad, but that will be the extent of my "home cooked" meal for them tonight.

I don't think that's lazy at all. It's better use of your time and your guests will appreciate that you're not stressed over cooking.

Shane has never been one to have tummy troubles but he threw up 2x last night and had diarrhea this morning. I hope whatever it is/was is over now. He looked so sad last night :(.

I had a dental cleaning this morning. It had become something I dreaded because of one tiny area of major sensitivity. They were able to numb it up completely today and it was an easy visit - yay!

I'm waiting for DH to get home from his bike ride and then I need to make a run to Costco. I'm not in the mood but I need to pick up Shane's heart meds. I'm sure I'll manage to spend a lot $$ before I'm out the door :)

    Ha!

Go look at yesterday's thread for my goof of the morning.

Thinking of Karen as she launches her new adventure!

I was all kinds of hungry and they have free lunch at work today. Yeah, I should have brought or purchased something else. Greek salad with no cheese, lasagna, cold with no cheese and an impenetrable layer of pasta on top and a hockey puck roll.

I know, I know.... don't turn up your nose at free lunch.

    But I was soooo hungry!

    Whine.

It is really, really bothering me that hotmail is down. I want my email!!!!

The other forum I lurk and occasionally post on is going down for the next two days. You may hear a lot more from me as I will be bored STIFF at my job,

I know! It's been so annoying!

    • Gold Top Dog
Hotmail finally came back up but before that a friend posted on his facebook status that he was so proud of another friend for the new position she will be starting - the same position I was excited about applying for a couple of weeks ago. It turns out that I recieved the form email "thanks but no thanks" at 9AM and the Bishop sent out a blast email announcing the new person at 1 PM. Not even a call or explanation of why not me.

    Gee, thanks.

This, the problems with Little Man and my boredom at work have all combined to dump down on me today. I truly feel that I am not good at anything. Work-wise I either have no experience in that field or I am overqualified so I am doing a boring contract job. Life wise I can't do anything of interest to me because DH is out of town 3 - 4 days a week and I have a full time job, a four year old and two wonderful, energetic dogs. I can't even help teach the little church choir because I can't get to the Safe Church meeting. DH just looked at me this afternoon and said, "I don't know what to do to help you." At least he wants to.

I'm so sorry for venting to you all. Please, ignore me and post something really funny for me to be hysterical over.

    • Gold Top Dog

((hugs)) Vent away. That's what we're here for.

Jackie,I'm impressed the program does TRAINING!  When I did TNR, you just sort of got thrown in to it.  If you were lucky you were teamed up with someone experienced.  Anyway that is how I ended up with 11 cats -  down to 9 now.

I realized I couldn't foster cats, I kept them all -- so I switched to bichons.  Smile
