    Happy Monday chat

My gosh, the weekend just FLEW by.  Doesn't seem fair somehow.  Today *might* make it to the 50's so brrrrrrrr!

Too wet Saturday to work outside although I did manage some time in the herb bed between storms.  Yesterday it was COLD and wet, so next to nothing that I wanted to do outside got done.  It's not going anywhere, but still......

One of my clients is a florist and on Friday she gave me just the prettiest spring arrangement.  It was so sweet of her, and I felt Mike's hand in that.  Made me feel all warm and fuzzy all day!  And, since it's sitting on the dining room table, it still is.

Maureen, I sure hope you are improving.  And, Callie?  Gosh girl, enough of this already!  Get better!  This has been a very long stretch.  And, same for Jen.  Good gosh!

I need to be at a meeting in an hour, so suppose I should get moving.

Hope everyone has a really good Monday!

I'm not very happy that it's Monday and I have to go to work. I kept waking up last night tossing and turning and feeling like I had ticks crawling on me. Bleh! Hate ticks.

We had a freeze last night which will probably ruin the apple crop again this year. This happened last year too. Such a bummer. But we should be back on the warm weather train tomorrow. After that i am putting my winter gear away for good!

I should have rinsed the swamp off abbie last night. Her legs have dried blackish.

It's cold but the sun is shining - that's a good thing. DH called me at 7:00 this morning and said the work guys replacing the wood around the exterior windows starting hammering on Riley's window. He was PISSED! I don't blame him. Our condo association is really lax on telling us when stuff is going to happen. Usually we just blow it off but no one should start hammering on window casings before 8:00 am I am sorry.

He wanted to call and complaing, but knowing the people in our community I am SURE someone already did. I can see them starting at 8:00 but 7:00 is crazy early. He will now have one cranking girl on his hands - good times.

I hope everyone had a nice Mother's Day yesterday.

Julie -- that would rank way up there with me on "NIGHTMARE" -- ugh.

Lisa -- oh boy that would make ME cranky!! Where are people's brains sometimes?

Back at work at least part time now to start.

I had a very nice weekend - met up with Mumsie and Pop for a very nice lunch at a resturant near them on Sat.  Yesterday, we went out for breakfast.  Only to a local diner, but sometimes, nothing beats a good diner breakfast !!!

Lisa- WTF?! seriously, that's too early to be banging on the windows.

I'm at the doctor now, seeing my least favorite guy, but it's who could see me first. They always make something quickly for my dad, so he called for me. I actually had to race right out the door when he called. After I woke up coughing and nearly puking at 5 AM, I decided it was time to go. I come here so infrequently, that they still had me on my dad's insurance (I was kicked off August or September 2011).

Jen - I hope they can give you something to help you get over whatever this is.

Callie - I'm glad you're feeling a little better too. Don't overdo it today.

DH just left for work and after I go grocery shopping, I plan to enjoy the rest of the day doing nothing but reading and relaxing. It'll be in the mid 80s and I'm loving this weather.

We submitted the low-ball offer on that house yesterday. If they even respond, I'm sure it'll be a counter-offer. They had an open house yesterday, so I wouldn't be surprised if they got some other offers. This house is about as close as you can get to our largest lake, so I can't believe he's not getting offers over the asking price but it hasn't been on the market that long.

I'm finally on the downside of the allergy/cold induced congestion and coughing. Froze my butt off working at the track over the weekend. There's just something not right about wearing long underwear and a winter coat in the middle of May and having snow falling.

DS gave me a gift certificate for a massage for Mother's Day. I found Dove dark chocolate swirled with mint at Target, so that was my gift to myself. Delish!

Working on corporate Amex this morning - it's not helping my headache.

I hope Maureen is feeling better and also that Jackie isn't too stressed about the big bid (and gets a positive answer soon.)

I got a Z-pak. I feel like that's just the default thing to hand out. There's no way he could know I have a bacterial infection without testing. He would have given me the codeine cough syrup, but I said no for now. It tastes like total crap and I hate the zombie feeling. I'm in Costco now getting the prescription. I just went to the bathroom and saw the samples getting set up, so I'm hanging out a bit to try to snag some. I'm at least staying until I can get some pizza.

Tina, I'm so out of touch lately I didn't realize racing had started back up.  Stupid cold weather that required major winter gear at the track.  Glad to hear you're feeling better other than the Amex induced headache.  My stress levels have dropped considerably.  Waiting game now.

Jen, hope the doc gives you something to get over the crud.  Maureen, hope you're doing better.  Callie, glad you're able to get to work if only part time.

Lisa, that is crazy about those guys starting work before 8 AM.  I'm not a late sleeper but I like a little peace and quiet in the mornings.  We have a neighbor who starts mowing at 7AM on the weekend.

Hope everyone has a good day.  I'm so behind with regular work, after neglecting some of it these last few weeks, that I better get busy.  I did manage to get some bills paid this morning.

sometimes, nothing beats a good diner breakfast !!

Agreed, Deb --- especially about 2AM after you've been out having a good time.  No, I don't have that experience anymore, but we had our favorite local diners in the New Haven and Hartford areas when I was single.  Those meals tasted so darn good!  Now if we have a meal like that, it's on a Saturday or Sunday morning at a more "reasonable" hour!

Cathy, I finally looked at the photos for that house.  Holy cow -- what a spectacular place!  It's so open and bright.  I love the window seats in the "smaller" bedrooms.   I also love the seated vanity space on in master bath counter.  In my advancing age, my lower back starts to hurt after having to stand in front of the mirror for so long, drying/styling my hair, applying make-up.  I'd love that space to sit, with a lighted magnifying mirror on the counter (failing eyes = also due to age!).  And that yard and pool ---- living there would be like being on permanent vacation!  I hope they accept your offer!

I heard a strange sound outside about 9:30pm last night . . . it was heavy rain.  First rainfall in about 3 weeks, I think.  The grey skies are bleh today, but boy, is the garden going to be happy.

Glad you're back to work Callie -- don't overdo it!  And Jen, I hope the Z-Pak helps.  I know what you mean about the docs tossing those around at everything, but if it helps your nasty cough finally go away, that's good.  Oh, is everything okay with your niece?  You mentioned the frantic call from your Mom.

Julie - I hate ticks too.  Right now they're starting to get bad around here.

Lisa - 7am is waaaay to early!  I'll never forget the old management company our condo used to use.  They totally neglected to tell us our unit was slated for balcony inspection/maintenance.  Well, I was home sick with the flu that day when I saw someone climbing up and onto the balcony (2nd floor off the master bedroom).  Scared me poopless!  The management company we have now is very good about notifying us all about stuff going on and they'd never start that early!

Today is flying by today.  Managed to renew our worker's comp insurance and get billing out thus far.  Oh and training the part time office assistant.  I'm also starving and should probably go and fix that!

They countered lower than we thought (right in the middle) and because they had another offer they countered, we decided not to hesitate, so we accepted it. There's still a chance the other people accepted their counter offer too, so it's not over yet. I'm 75% over the moon about this house and 25% freaked about it all. The kitchen and master bathroom were everything I would ever wanted and more but the whole house is gorgeous and the backyard is like a peaceful park and even the front yard has a park-like feel. The owner has lived there 25 yrs and lost his wife a few years ago to cancer, so he's packing up and moving to Austin. He's a super nice guy and I noted a tinge of sadness in the whole thing for him.

Cathy -- that's so exciting!  That kitchen is incredible.  I hate cooking, but I might learn to enjoy it in a space that amazing.  And seriously, that yard and pool?  It's like a private resort just for yourselves.

You've met the owner it sounds like?  Maybe if maximum money isn't 100% of his motivation, maybe he'll favor you guys over the other people if he's feeling sentimental about the home and took a liking to you and DH.  Hey, did you introduce him to Shane?  Maybe he's a dog person!  It might make him feel good to know that a really nice couple with a sweet, handsome dog will look after his home in a special way, truly appreciating all it's wonderful qualities and keeping the lovely yard looking nice, etc.  I assume a seller can "pick" his buyer, even if they're not the highest offer/bid, right?  Wink

    Keep us posted!

Good luck, Cathy! Let me know when we can all move in. Stick out tongue
