Chillin Thurs

    Chillin Thurs

Brrrrrr! My poor dogs are beside themselves trying to get attention. They can't figure out why I am home and not playing with themor ootherwise fawning all over them. Each have their own way or begging for attention. Neiko brings me socks and wiggles his butt, abbie licks my hand then lays her paw on it, lily nose punches my hand and when that doesn't work jumps on my chest then lays down and looks at me like "look, I am lying down, that is your petting requirement so pet me" forget the fact that she just crushed my lungs.

Oh I love the college basketball tournament!!

sunny but unseasonably cold - sun works for me though

Bugsy's surgery is scheduled for Tuesday at a specialist vet. Its about 3.5 hours away so a long day for me

He is feeling quite chipper this morning so I may try to walk him a bit

I am THE worst at names - I have often said its some sort of phobia or mental defect. I have so many laugh at myself stories but perhaps the funniest is that when we moved here we had a neighbor called Vance. For some bizarre reason his name in my head was Wade. Our other neighbors that we are very good friends with loved to keep confusing me when I would finally get it right. It went on for years - until they moved away LOL. Every once in while we see Wade/Vance at a particular restaurant and I can't help but laugh.

    Have a good one all!

There is a glorious orb in the sky this morning. The temps are a little warmer and there are no ominous snow clouds. Fingers crossed that it lasts.

And....it is tantilizingly close to FRIDAY!

    Have a good one all!

Holy crap, 3 Thursday threads! I'm too confused to think of what I was going to post. Confused

The new guy is starting to get on my nerves.  I'm hoping his fawning and brown nosing will stop when he sees it has no effect.

Rex and Belle tag teamed a grackle yesterday.  Grackle 0  Dogs 1

ETA to correct my bad grammar

Sorry - work has been insanely busy lately and it's been nearly midnight before I've seen the thread a couple of days.  I can't complain -- I'll just call it job security.   The girl who works with me is out sick again today -- she's darned good so when she's not here it leaves a BIG hole.  I just hope she feels better tomorrow! wheee!

Hi to everyone -- Karen, glad you've got a new vet.  If it were me I'd be staying overnight.  I am NOT good driving when I'm tired.

     Julie feel better!!

Sadly I am pleased at Rex & Belle's work

Callie I will be staying overnight the day of surgery but money is tight so I will be driving up the morning of surgery.

    Where's Deb??

That's what I used to do when Billy was going to Gainesville so often (it's about 3 1/2 hrs) -- but thankfully it is SO much easier to stay at a motel with a dog now than it used to be.  Billy used to think it was THE kewelest "Mom n me" time ever.  Either I'd go up late the night before if I had to have him there at 8:00 a.m. or I'd stay the night after.  In particular NO ONE wants to see *me* on the road at 5:00 a.m. -- it's just not safe ... for the rest of the WORLD lol

Karen, Riley has a habit of randomly naming people. She started calling my sister's boyfriend Uncle Stewart for some reason (his name is Keith). Now, that's what everyone calls him including some of his friends. LOL

When you posted , the temp in my yard was roughly -2ºF. We won't even go into windchill factors. Now, it is all the way up to 12ºF. The temp went up 14 degrees, and it's still 20 degrees below freezing. The sun is shining, the sky is blue, the ground is white and hard. I'll give it a couple of more hours to warm up, then may hit a WMA to run the muttly one.

Sweety Pie is working on a new command with us now. If we are in the basement and she doesn't want to use the stairs, she retires to the den and barks every couple of minutes until one of us appears. It's so cute.

She may be losing some hearing. Either that, or she really sleeps soundly now. The garage door opener used to wake her. She would meet us at the door. Now, we have the groceries in the kitchen before she gets up.

As a sign of age creeping in, I just got an appointment reminder from the Mayo Clinic, Rochester, MN. A fun filled day starting at 0640 with a blood draw. It's a 2 hour drive. I am pretty sure my blood will be tired. The expert wants an MRI. Three MRI facilities within 15 miles of my house, and I get to dodge deer for 100 miles to see the experts. The Mankato Hospital and my local doctor are affiliated with Mayo. Apparently, the experts at Mayo either wrote the texts the others use, or taught the authors of the texts everything they know. I think I would rather telecommute.

OK, that's hilarious!  I wonder why she chose the name Stewart?  It doesn't sound like a name she would've picked up from a favorite kids' program or book or something.  Too cute.

Doug, I know I'd be complaining about the bitter cold you described, but the sun and bright blue sky have to lend a bit of "ooomph" to things, right?  Thankfully, the heavy winds finally stopped late yesterday -- just some showers today.

Karen, I'm glad you're staying overnight for Bugsy's surgery, too.  I assume they're keeping him at the clinic overnight?  What ever happened with the other clinic?  Did they ever offer any other explanations or apologies -- and more importantly, did you have to pay for the "services" they provided?  I sure hope not!  .

I'm afraid Ruby is about to learn how to climb our chainlink fence.  I know she could if she wanted to -- she's fast, she can jump incredibly high, and she's agile.  But until now, she's never been inclined to try it other than to put her paws on the top rail to reach my neighbor if he's offering her a pat or a treat.  Yesterday she spotted a large bird in a shrub just outside the fence, and she got on her hind legs to get a better look.   Once she focuses on something, forget it -- she wants to get close.  The bird didn't fly off, and she got frustrated that she couldn't get closer, so she started to put her hind paws on the fencing.  I immediately called her off, and she complied.  We don't leave her in the yard unattended, but now we'll have to be extra vigilant even when we're out there with her!  Surprise

Um, yeah.  I'm used to TWO threads and always look closely before I start one, but THREE?  We must have all been typing at the same time.  I laughed when I saw the THIRD one started when I got back home.

Doug, I'm sorry your weather is so darned cold.  it's actually only 29 here, but the sun makes it seem so much warmer.  I've said before, I fool myself rather easily.  Suns shining?  Yep, must be warmer than they say it is!  Just a bit of harmless self-delusion to get me through the winter!

So...the boss is on the road today so not getting phone calls from him, now the next in line as boss is calling.  Can't win!  Somehow I got myself admitted to (more like sucked into) the inner sanctum and can't seem to find the way back OUT!  LOL!  I think the boss is going to have to start putting a little bit extra in the old pay envelope if he wants to keep working me like a mule!

Geeze...there goes the cell phone again.....

When I first looked, there were 3; when I posted, 2 were combined and one was still there alone. I was mostly being a smarty-pants and in no way criticizing our fine moderators. Wink

We have no idea. Last year she all of a sudden starting calling him that and it stuck. We don't know anyone with that name. It is pretty funny.

Lisa, maybe his name was Stewart in a previous life, and Riley has a special ability to detect such things!  Wink
