((hugs)) Jackie
This morning Willa was looking through her shirts hanging in her closet, trying to decide what to wear to school. She came across her pirate shirt (that she picked out of the boys' department of Kohl's last summer) and quickly pulled it out. She said, "Sometimes at school the boys don't let me play with them. So maybe if I wear this boy shirt they'll let me play." OMG my heart broke into a million pieces. She wasn't really too sad about it, more matter-of-fact. If she had been more sad I probably would have started crying. This poor girl. She's such a tomboy. And she's so shy. I know how hard it must have been for her to ask to play… and then to get shot down. Ugh. I so remember that spirit-crushing feeling from when I was little. I didn't even know what to say. I'll talk to her more about it later; kind of hard to have a heart-to-heart during the morning rush.
On a lighter note, I just got a text from DH, who is at work, "Someone here just told me that without the moon we wouldn't have night, because the moon covers up the sun."
I asked him if he was having a conversation with a 3-year-old. lol! I'm sure we'd have some problems if the moon went away, but not having night probably wouldn't be one of them!! I'm guessing this conversation stemmed from a little bit of the news we watched last night, about how like in the 60s or something, the US wanted to nuke the moon to show off for Russia.
