TGIF!

    TGIF!

I only have half a day today. Yay. I have an ear follow up appt though. That won't be fun I'm sure. The cold is back but man, the last couple of days were NICE! We have weekend training camp this weekend. There are too many people/dogs going and not enough space so I am going to be stuck on a cot no doubt. It's that or an upper bunk bed (no thank you). I hope this won't be a disaster. I doubt I will get any sleep at all. Speaking of sleep, I got none last night because my brain just won't shut off. Plus the allergy meds give me a bit of a rush. I hope the next 3 hrs go fast!

Still hacking up hair balls here. No allergy shots for me this week. So, just a meeting this afternoon that I'd rather not bother with, but have to, and flyball class for Luke. I think Callie is staying home because I have to have my friend come by and pick him up to take him, and hopefully I will get there. It's a horrible scheduled meeting ending in time to leave us in horrendous traffic.

So, now they are saying that along with the hurricane we might get a foot of snow???  Ummmm, what the heck?  I think I might just go into hibernation and curl up with a nice warm, sleeping bear.  Be about as safe.

I am soooo glad that it's Friday.  I need a weekend.

Looks like a good time Karen and Deb!!!  Watch out for that hurricane and I don't mean the drink.

So I may have to slap my boss upside his head.  I NEVER take a lunch while everyone else including him does every day.  I sit at my desk for 9 frinking hours a day getting up only to pee, for meetings, and maybe grab something downstairs and then bring it back up to my desk and eat while working.  However, yesterday I decided to have lunch with an old friend out of the building.  Time got away from us and we were gone for 1 1/2 hours.  NEVER HAPPENED BEFORE.  He was snotty in the afternoon yesterday, but left early so I didn't have to deal with it.  This morning I get an email saying "obviously you have some free time so I am thinking of loaning you out to XX department for 30 hours per week."

    WTF!!!!

I would ask him to quantify "free time" versus "federally mandated required break time that you have accumulated over the last x-months"

What a jackass.  I'd hate to be in your position, but you have worked hard to be there and shouldn't be crapped on without the ability to throw that crap back over the fence.

We're doing a fund raising outdoor event on Sunday.  The last time we did one of these it was a tropical storm.  Now we've got a hurricane looming on us (although doubtful it will hit Sunday, but the weather will be gorgeous tomorrow, overcast and cold on Sun. bleck!)  i wonder if any of our cohorts have those outdoor space heaters...

Lisa, I'm not sure about the laws in your area, but here we have to be able to take a lunch.  With past employers, I fell into the trap of not doing so, eating at my desk, but my current job we take one (usually together, rotating who jumps up to grab the phone - then again there's only 4 of us who work out of the office).

Karen and Deb - nice picture of the two of you!!!!!

I realized today that the significant other and I haven't sat down together for a meal in a really long time.  We've been eating in front of the tv or computers for too long.  So, tonight I'm going to cook up a nice meal, buy some wine (for me; beer for him lol) and we'll sit, eat and talk.  Looking forward to it!  Heck, maybe I'll even light a few candles or something.  =)

I remember looking into the laws about break time when I worked for an inventory company, and found that there is no federally mandated break law.  Some states can require it, but it is usually company policy.  That really surprised me because we sometimes worked so many hours without a break, that it bordered on abuse...

We usually eat dinner together during the week b/c we have Hannah and it seems to be a good for her.  But when its just the 2 of us we are usually in front of the TV, but lately we've been doing breakfast together at least 1 morning most weekends.  Its super relaxing and just a nice start to the day.

Tina, haven't read the article yet, but just the headline.... wow :(

I am salary so it really doesn't matter to be honest. I usually work about 50 - 60 hours a week in general. I am technically "in management" so really none of that stuff applies to us. I do get a significant amount of flexibility - working from home, etc. - it's just his little hissy fits are sooo very annoying. 75% of the time he's a great boss and lets me do what I want, when I want - its the other 25% of time he is such an jerk.

What a jerk - I like how the article said - "at least she's rid of him now". I guess China sees women as for only one purpose - have babies - NICE!!!!
