TGIF!

    Denny's is having Hobbit meals!

I'm going to a Halloween party tomorrow. It's with people I know through my dog walking group. Obviously I need to wear a Star Wars costume, since they know me because of Luke, right?

Karen and Deb, it looks like you two had a great time!

Lisa, sorry you're boss was such a jerk about you taking a lunch for a change.  I hope you enjoyed lunch with your friend and you should do it more often.  I always try and get away from the office at lunch.  I used to stay and work but I need the time away from here to keep my sanity or what's left of it. lol

The cool front moved in last night.  Not very cold compared to most parts of the country but it's nice to not be so hot and humid.  The dogs are loving the cooler weather.  This morning they were all running around the back yard like maniacs. :)

DH and I usually eat dinner together at the table.  Of course, one or both of us is usually reading so not sure how much bonding or sharing is going on. :)

Can't wait for date night and a margarita.  This week has just dragged by for me.

Deb - thanks so much for posting that great picture. I wish I was there celebrating with you both.

Lisa - Wow!! That really ticked me off for you. Up until I semi-retired recently, I was also salaried and I worked through most lunches too. On the rare occasion that I met with someone and took a longer lunch, I'd have flipped if anyone said a word. That's just wrong and I'm sorry for the 25% time you have to deal with that jerk.

Looks like it'll be sunny most of today and warming up to the mid 70s. Yay!!!

DH is working all weekend but I'm meeting with some of his family for breakfast tomorrow morning and then out for dinner on Sunday evening to celebrate his mom's BD. Sunday afternoon is the volunteer appreciation picnic at Homeward Bound, so it'll be a busy but fun weekend.

Lisa - I'm wrong. lol  But I still think you should tell him to shove it. :P

I'm wrong a lot these days!!  I'm should just stop talking. Just look back at people and smile, or look away.  Good bad or indifferent. hahah!

There, my last post here for the month!

(I would tell you to enjoy your day and be safe this weekend, but I'm just smiling at my computer instead.)

    Smile

Deb and Karen what a great photo!

It's way cooler today and still very windy.  All my plants are in, just need to get some wood in the wood room just in case we need to take the chill off this weekend.   I have a room, that is just off the kitchen that is access by the outside and the kitchen.  We call it the wood room cause I can keep up to a  1/2 rick of wood in it and it stays dry.  Then if I need to start a fire, I dont have to bundle up to go outside.  It was good planning on the early owners (1800's).

I wish it was 5:00 I am so ready to have a weekend :)

See you at the Tiki bar...

Deb, a lightweight? You published photographic evidence of how wrong that is! Lol it was super, duper wonderful meeting you!

Lisa, I cannot believe how big a jerk your boss is. You should start taking lunch more regularly to remind him that you are supposed to get a lunch break! I think you should contact HR to find out what your organization has in place regarding breaks. I don't know of a major organization that doesn't have regulations regarding breaks!

In the UK & EU breaks are mandatory.

DH & I eat at the table together but the TV is usually on and we may be both reading something. We do chat though lol

Lisa, it is a state thing, but, HERE, even management has to take lunch and not at their desks.

It sounds to me like this guy is just so used to abusing you that he actually notices when you aren't around to abuse.  Jerk.

Nice photo you 2! How fun :)

Lisa, your boss needs management lessons! I am sure he is just annoyed over the 1.5 hr lunch but I bet he has done it numerous times! Once in a while should not cause that kind of reaction. Jerk.

Oh, I am sure we have policies up the ying yang. However, I am pretty sure his informal policy of letting me work from home once a week just because isn't one of them either. It's one of those things where you have to take the good with the bad. His bad is just really really really annoying. Paige - don't you dare stop talking!!!!!!!!!! Smiling back at you through my computer!
    • Gold Top Dog

Seriously Paige, you are one of the wisest women I know. Please don't stop chatting, sharing and offering advice.

If I had to stop talking or writing because I made an error, I'd have gone silent a long time ago!

Lisa, how infuriating!  My primary boss is very flexible, thankfully.  My coworker's primary boss is NOT and takes terrible advantage of her.  She works 6 days a week, 50-60 hours per week (she's salaried) and has skipped lunch or eaten at her desk for years.  On the rare occasions she wants to meet someone for lunch or leave 30 minutes early, her boss acts like it's major insubordination.

Thanks for posting that photo, Deb.  Looks like you guys had a great time together.  How fun!

That lawsuit story is incredible.  Won't that set a precedent for future lawsuits?  If it were the US, I think there'd be many similar cases (based on how many young people have cosmetic procedures these days in order to look like airbrushed cover models and how lots of people expect perfection in their lives).

Our local shelter's annual fundraising dinner/auction/costume party is tomorrow night.  I've got everything lined up for my costume, but I have one big obstacle that is stressing me out -- my hair.  I'm going as Audrey Hepburn's character, Holly Golightly, from "Breakfast at Tiffany's," and she had this beehive style swooped hair.  I've got the rhinestone thingy for it, but my hair just isn't long enough (and I'm not skilled enough) to get it pinned up correctly.  I wish I'd thought earlier to make an appointment somewhere or found some stylish teenager to help me!!

This picture seemed to show a more detailed shot of the hair.  I would guess a hairpiece was definately involved.  You may be able to find one at a wig store or even resale shop.

I love Breakfast at Tiffany's     Afriend of my daughter's is a big fan of Audrey.   Spent almost a year gathering all the necessary stuff to be Holly Golightly one Halloween...  She really pulled it off to.

    I love Breakfast at Tiffany's

Me, too, Ginger.  It's one of my all-time favorite movies and one of the few DVDs that I own.  Audrey was stunning, and she seemed like a beautiful person on the inside, too.

I don't know why I've never used this costume idea before.  I had the dress and shoes already (my dress is short; hers was long), and between me and my friend, we had enough rhinestone jewelry, and the black gloves and long cigarette holder to complete the look.  My friend even had a small stuffed orange tabby cat in her collection, so I'll carry that along with a blue gift bag with the Tiffany & Co logo on it.

I'm looking into clip-on hair pieces . . . and my coworker knows a young gal in beauty school, so we'll see if she has some suggestions.  Someone else suggested one of those "bump-its," but I probably couldn't figure out how to use it!

    • Gold Top Dog

Wooohooo! You will have to take pictures :).  You even have a bag???? and a stuffed cat???  excellant!

I was just told that the social security and dept of revenue in South Carolina was hacked.   Millions of social security number have been compromised..  They are suggesting that anyone who might have had any dealing with these departments since 1998 should contact them via phone or websight.  The government is offering free ID theft protection for one year.   Dont know how true that is but in case thought I might mention that bit of good news Devil

Hope everyone has a safe and happy weekend!
