I only get the flu shot sometimes, and I have never gotten sick. You can't get the flu from the flu shot, because it contains killed viruses. If you have gotten sick, that's most likely just a coincidence. I really need to go get it this year. I work with kids who have poor hygiene, put their hands all over, and as I found out when I got swine flu a few years ago just before the shot was available in my area, I have dystonic reactions to Tamiflu. Just go google dystonic reaction. My neck twisted up to the side, and I could not move it. I was literally sitting in a corner trying to use the walls to force my head straight because it hurt so bad. It was the only time I have ever called my doctor's office for an emergency after hours. Whoever was on call had no idea what was going on, and I actually didn't find out exactly what it was till years later when I described it to the allergy doctor. I wanted someone to kill me. Luckily somehow, my mom found out online that Benadryl would fix it, and I was saved a trip the ER. First I thought it was going to be a trip to the hospital because I was going to dehydrate because the only thing I could keep down was if I sucked on ice, then I thought I was going to die from the dystonic reaction. So, I'm going to try the intradermal shot this year. I'm severely needle phobic, but I'm going to do it.
