Monday chatting

We are not officially working today, but I have about 7 places to go, commitments I've made, and one of my clients is having an open house, so need to stop by there.  Then I want to stop by the hospital and see my boss for just a couple minutes.

I think I'm gonna need a second pot of coffee though!

  We hired a new guy and he told me this morning his wife is a pastry chef!  Why he doesn't weigh 300 lbs is beyond my comprehension.  lol

Nice and cool this morning but we'll be heating up later this week to the low 90's again. 

 brrrrrrrrrrrrr @ 50*, windy, drizzly, and overcast...............loving it Took B to play in the woods today - happily he looked pretty good, slight limp on the way home but goodness he was happy. Took a few pics and they are all blurry except one LOL He was bouncing and wiggling like crazy. Not good for photos but great for the soul!

Long list today. LONG list. 

DH's kayak stand looks great - he had to order some webbing so it won't be complete until then. Like his usual products it will probably be the only thing left standing after a hurricane LOL

Our weather is more November than October - usually October is very dry and hits the 80's, next ten days we have a few in the 70's but lots of rainy days forecast. We sure have had our fill of water in '12 so far!

I guess not many people are off for Columbus Day? I'm going to miss getting paid for all the Monday holidays.

I went out to HB to help with the dog reactive class yesterday. I got paired with a huge boy named Hunter. I'm not sure he was aggressive but he was reactive and wanted to get the little bouncy guy next to us. It took all my strength to hold him back and kept me on edge the whole class. Bugged me that 2 of the big guys in the class were working with dogs that weighed about 30 lbs and I had one that probably weighed as much as I do

We actually have a chance for rain in the forecast starting tomorrow. It's been months since we've seen a drop of rain, so it would be nice. The mornings and evenings are really chilly now but the majority of the day has been beautiful.

What the heck is going on with our gas prices??????

I've been having a super sneezy, nose faucet thing since last night. Every time I sneeze, it makes my one eye water. This morning has already been crap. I worked today so I can take off Wednesday for a conference. That was probably one of the worst times I've ever had with that kid. Sometimes, I leave work looking like I'm in an abusive relationship. Today was one of those days. The kid I am seeing this afternoon, apparently the road to get there sucks, although it should be okay at the time I have to go through there (I have to take 195 and go through where they have it down to 1 lane from the accident last week for the Jersey folk). I've been discovering lately her severely lacking math skills. Like devastatingly bad, at least to me. There is no reason this kid's math skills should be so behind. I'm not too sure she learned much math last year. I haven't done much work on it with her because it hadn't typically been an area she was really behind on, and was something she tended to pick up pretty quickly. I taught the kid to read clocks to within 5 minutes the other week in less than 5 minutes and with two directions. There is no reason a kid who can do that should be so behind.

Morning all

From yesterday Kate your quilt is beautiful.  One of the girls at the office is quilt crazy, she doesnt make them she love to buy them at auctions.  She was asking what pattern that was.

It was 32 degrees here this morning....burrrrrrr....will warm up to 60 and supposed to get back to average fall temps by tomorrow.  I had to pull in my sensitive more tropical plants Friday which was before I got the plant room organized.  I got them in but will set a few back out tomorrow since it will be back to normal for the next week or so.

Tomorrows shut off day at work so it's very busy  sending good vibes to those that are needing them today.

I think the boss is feeling better.  He chewed on me for showing up to see him!  I told him to keep his shorts on that I was staying on my own side of the curtain (clearly the nurses aid was giving him his bath, but told me to come right in.....ummm, thanks but no)  Then he told me to go sell some ads, which is funny since he didn't want us to work today.  I did and now I'm home.  That'll show the old coot to declare a holiday where one isn't warranted!

Cathy, I haven't received holiday pay for years.  I work part-time, and my employers believe part-timers get zero benefits, not even a pro-rated portion of the holiday or vacation pay that full-timers get.  It's one of the many things that have me thinking more and more that I need to change jobs.

Someone linked in a chat last week that YouTube video of the woman yelling at the bear (Karen, I think).  I mentioned that I knew someone with that name who lived in CT where black bear are often seen in residential areas.  I figured chances were slim it was the same woman, but my Mom called yesterday and confirmed it is her!  She's been on TV (the Today Show is how my Mom got confirmation it was her).  The video is funny, but even funnier because we know her, and we're not surprised she'd do something like that.  I haven't seen her in a few years, but my Mom sees her often, so she'll talk to her about it soon.  Her 15 minutes of fame! 

Another glorious day here -- high 40's this AM, but up to 73 by this afternoon.  Not a cloud in the sky.  A few more days, then rain is due by the weekend.  Enjoying this while it lasts!

Working from home today since we had Riley's IEP meeting at school - finally.  It went well.  It was nice to hear that she is known as such a happy girl at school.  That definitely made me smile.  I am still a little nervous about the social issues she struggles with.  She has a hard to initiating play and keeping play going.  They said it's because of the speech stuff and because those types of interactions are dynamic she has a hard time so she will just go off and play on her own.

 I have seen this at the playground many times.  She will try to initiate play with kids her age but she struggles so she usually hangs around with smaller kids that she can lead around (who have the same verbal skills as she does) or older girls that want to mommy her.  It is definitely something they/we will be working on this year.

I just realized that I get the whole house to myself this afternoon - all alone - plus Charlie.  I am rarely home alone since Riley is usually here or DH is.  I am usually the one running errands, etc.  And since he is at the dentist this afternoon it is a rare event.  Charlie looks lost with just me here.  LOL

Cathy, I'm wondering the same thing.  Right now, they're blaming it on the refinery fire in the bay area.  Thing is, crap happens here and prices go up.  Crap happens in the Middle East and prices go up. It's dangerously close to $5 a gallon, and that's as high as I can ever remember seeing it.  My little Matrix only holds 13 gallons and I'm dreading laying out $60+ to fill it up.

Last night I figured out a way to get my socks on, and now I can't remember exactly what it was I did.  Hopefully it will come to me soon.

Jackie - QUICK!  Get out his job description and edit it to include a weekly task of "providing fresh baked goodies for co-workers."  And say that his job security depends on it! 

You're brilliant!  I'm editing his job description right away.  lol  Tracy, that's so neat that the woman on the youtube vid was someone you know.  It was a funny clip but I don't think I'd be shooing a bear away unless I had a weapon in hand, just in case the animal wanted to test my resolve.

LOL Joyce - it figures you'd need socks when it's so hard to put them on. I hope you're healed up soon.
