I just couldn't wait for the weather to cool off, so I have on skinny jeans, a tank top and boots. Yes

I wouldn't mind serving on a jury.  Believe it or not I've only received two summons.  The first, I called the night before as instructed to see if I needed to go in and it was cancelled.  The second time, I had been living in Vermont for nearly two years and got called to jury duty in Massachusetts!  Needless to say, I called and corrected the error that court had about my legal state of residence.

I'm excited to start purging out the crap in our house.  It's amazing just how much junk we hold onto!

I want to be on jury duty, bizarrely I have never been called. For ages I gathered it was because I moved frequently, but DH has been called 2x since we've been here and I haven't been :(

I am in limbo, trying to chill before having to get ready for later. I put a silly video together of Bugsy rehabbing aka swimming. A link is posted in his 'shoulder' thread. Windows Live Moviemaker is really easy to use, but i am not going to pursue a career as a movie producer/director :)

It is so smart of you to take a week off for this.   I have been trying to do this the last couple of months...one room at a time.  I had issues in one room so I had to clear it out to get it fixed. Then the problem is I move everything out & only put back what I need, then I have another issue in another room before I am done purging then well....you can see the problem it just goes on and on and on....Stick out tongue

I wouldn't mind, if I wasn't a contractor. I make no money of I cancel work. I canceled a meeting for this afternoon. What I got paid for jury duty is a very small percentage of the money I would have made. I actually picked today because Thursday is pretty much my day off. If I ha to stay tomorrow, or after that, I'd be losing significant income and would have trouble paying bills. We all got dismissed from the second case I got called for. There was a cop in the panel. When asked about his relations to anyone, he said he believed he had relations with the defendant. Obviously, the defense attorney didn't want anyone who had heard that. They're actually doing that one tomorrow now. Now we're waiting to hear about one more potential case. Some of the people are so naive they didn't realize why we had all gotten dismissed. This guy who got us all dismissed got dismissed earlier too. I'm surprised they don't throw him out immediately, or make him come to the sidebar to say why he can't serve.

Gah!  What a week!  I was at a neighbor's last Sunday (right across the street) and as she was taking me through her garage to see a project she's working on in the back yard, I tripped over something and went down on the side of my left leg.  Super painful, but obviously not broken so I opted not to go sit in the ER for hours and decided to just ice it instead.  I've been gimping along all week with the help of a borrowed walker and cane, and it's getting a lot better ... but I swear I will never again be behind some poor old soul with a walker thinking to myself "hurry up, hurry up".Tongue Tied

In other news, our unseasonably hot weather is supposed to continue on at least for the first week of October.  I am beyond ready for a good, rainy day.

Gin - that's the problem I've been having, plus other rooms get neglected because I tend to get super focused in just one area and let normal maintenance slip.  I have to thank my super cool boss and coworkers letting me take the week off with short notice, to get this done.

Yikes Joyce - I'm sorry you hurt yourself but glad it's getting better. I always feel compassion for someone using a cane or walker. My dad used both the last few yrs he was mobile and it really bothered me to think anyone was rushing him Super Angry.

Oh my gosh Joyce...glad to hear you are better.  My Mom uses a cane and on occasion a walker, my Husband has had to use both before also and let me tell you.....some peeps are just rude to those that cant get around as well.

Ginger and Sharon, I chuckled at your comments about getting distracted during purging projects so they take longer than planned.  When we had our carpet replaced, I had to clear out a couple closets.  One held some boxes of sentimental things like photos and greeting cards.  Instead of just quickly hauling the boxes to other rooms, I started going through the boxes, reading cards, looking at photos.  The 15-minute project turned into something more time consuming!

Cathy, your outfit sounds quite stylish -- a perfect solution to the problem of wanting to wear your new cool-weather boots on a warm weather day!

I'm sure I'm late with my Bon Voyage message for Deb - hope it's a great vacation!

Joyce, I'm glad you didn't break anything, but sometimes those bumps and bruises can really make a body hurt for a while!  I hope you're back to your "regular speed" soon.

    Edited - spelling

Karen, thanks for the link. Does Sinbad need one of these toys? He has a couple of the big Kongs he likes to destroy the house with. (He gets just a bit frustrated when they end up under a chair...)

It looks like the crew and "Grandma" didn't get into too much trouble while we were gone. I think there's actually homemade wild grape jelly in the works.

I've been called to jury duty once and got postponed, then never called back :-(  That was in NC, Karen, and I had been there for 11 years before I got called. I, too, would like to serve just to see how it really works. A friend served on a federal grand jury that took something like 12 or 18 months--didn't meet every day, but I think she had to go once a week. It was a pain because she is a teacher, but she thought it was really interesting too.

Edit to fix typos...sorry, 'cause there may be more.

Quick question. We haven't been to a wedding in years.  How much should we give the son of good friends?  $200 or $250?

    Whatever is comfortable for you.

What Jackie said. $200 would be way out of my ability to give to anyone. My comfort zone is more like $50 but it is totally up to you. I don't think there is a hard fast rule
