What Jackie said. $200 would be way out of my ability to give to anyone. My comfort zone is more like $50 but it is totally up to you. I don't think there is a hard fast rule
Funny, this topic just came up at work the other day. I range I look at is between $35 - $75 per person (since there is usually two of us going). These are the factors I look at:
- Who paid for the wedding? If its the kids I tend to give a little more
- How big is the wedding?
- How elaborate is the wedding? Not that I want elaborate, but I try to cover at least my dinner cost within reason
- How close they are to me/family
But in the end, it's like a few people said - whatever you are comfortable with.
