Add me to the long list of folks who freaked out at Julie's comment. When we were going to x-ray Sassy, they talked about possibly needing to sedate her. I think they were willing to try without sedation 1st though. Poor Abbie - I hope she feels better soon.

Tina - Congrats on getting your house back to yourself. I'll bring the wine to the party. Party!!!

I got home from work yesterday and headed out back with Shane to do some training. Fortunately, I had treats and he was sticking near me when I looked over and saw a huge rat not more than 10 feet away. I thought it was dead but then saw it move just a little. I brought Shane in and sent DH out to dispose of it. Another time when I was really glad DH was home to take care of something like that. *shudders*

I'm hoping for a calmer day at work today. Yesterday was brutal and by the time I left, my shoulders were screaming from being tense and I had a nasty headache.

Nothin like giving a whole bunch of Idoger's early morning heart failure Julie  Wink

Nicole it's good to see you, hope you are all doing well.

Steph...they are too quick to induce but on the other hand I know many that have had to for various reasons.  My daughter was induced with her first because she was in labor.  It was difficult for her to say the least and she had a C-Sect. All I can say is they allowed her to go way too long.  Since this was a problem with the first she tried again with the second...same thing only they didnt let her go so long this time.  Number 3 was scheduled C-sect and she was the last.   I have see several new mothers give birth with this new trend but normally it is done within just a few days of due date and I havent heard of it being scheduled for convenience.

Well we are hearing all the bikes roll in to NWA....Steph I guess you and your DH wont be coming to BBandB this year :)  The festivities kick off at 3:00 today and go thru Sunday.  The weather will be off and on rain for a few days but not supposed to be any storms or gully washes.

    ETA: Yay Tina!

After the hazmat team cleans, party at my place - everyone is invited - including dogs!

Woo Hoo!  We're packing our bags and some extra booze!  :)

Jan,  that's too cold. Way too cold.

Party at Tina's!!!! Is it illegal to permanently injure a coworker for being dumber than a box of rocks?
    • Gold Top Dog
Lisa, it's perfectly legal. In fact, I have one who needs this treatment. Two actually. I'd like to than them for their irrelevant data, and injure them for being too dumb to realize it was irrelevant.

:D Guess we're gonna miss it this year.  We didn't make it to OC Bike Week either.  Last year we had a good time sitting out and watching all the different bikes go by.

It seems that (at least at our hospital, can't say for others) they are very comfortable/ready to do a lot of interventions (c-sections, induction, etc), and I don't think I'm quite on that same wavelength.  In my mind it seems that letting nature do its thing is probably the best when possible.  Granted, in the moment I may have a completely different thought process ;)

I do wish though that there was a way to know what week to tell Dad to take off.

Tina, that is good news for you and your DS.  I hope his transition goes smoothly.

Julie, I've had dogs xrayed without anesthesia.  Depends on the dog and the vet and what views they're trying to get.

Gracie had her chest, shoulder, and abdomen x-rayed a couple of weeks ago and they warned me they might have to sedate her.  She was a good girl and they didn't need to.

I went to look at dogs and puppies yesterday w/my friend.  Adorable little squirmy 3 week old puppies, which I did not touch as requested, but the breeder's friend picked them up so I got to look up close. :D  Litter originally had 14 puppies, 3 died so 11 left.  Hung out w/the daddy who is a lot like the dog I live w/now, only no serial killer mentality.  Didn't meet momma, though.

Then snuck into an abandoned 100yr old stone dairy barn to look around.  Gorgeous place.  I loaned my camera to someone else and didn't have it with me all day, but found someone else had taken pics of the place 20 years ago - which confirmed my suspicion that there were other buildings projecting from the main building which must have fallen down.  Pics were priceless to find.  Back side of the farm 20 yrs ago - the projection on the right has since fallen down/been removed.

Charmin?  I'm thinking Julie needs bubble wrap, or football player padding!  Yikes!

Just came home to eat lunch and make a ton of phone calls since this is the best day of the week for me to do phone work.  DS made himself an omlete and the smell of scorched eggs is overwhelming.  Blech.  He had some teeth removed last Tuesday (who knew that Ritalin rots the teeth from the inside out?) and has been mostly surviving on homemade soups.  He has a dry socket on one of them and has been in twice this week to have it packed, going back Thursday, yet today he couldn't live another minute without a SIX egg omelete!

Gray and dreary here today.  Think it'll be a good night for some comfort food.

Twister liked the new vet and she liked him too. :)   He got his blood drawn for his annual heartworm check but since he's starting chemo next week, no vaccines.  She told me she heard a slight heart murmur but that I shouldn't worry.  Tongue Tied   In all the many vet visits of the past 12 years, no vet has ever heard a murmur but since it's very slight I think I'll just not think about it (who am I kidding?) and worry about the bigger problem.  He's feeling great and gained two pounds.  Big Smile  He lost a lot of weight after the bladder surgery and resulting bowel problems so I'm thrilled about the gain.

It's been very humid and warm lately.  I'm ready for some cooler weather and those beautiful blue skies of October.

I don't know if I would put much stock in the heart murmur Jackie especially if nobody else has caught it before. It could just be an off day. Either way, you are right, just worry about the bigger issue. Dogs can live long lives with heart murmurs, especially if they are so slight.

Man oh man. My phone is ringing off the hook today. Why is that always the case on my telework days?

ETA: I think I am going to do a 10-wk BAT session with a local trainer and Abbie. Has anyone ever done this type of training before?

Jackie - I'm glad the new vet visit went well and agree that if it's a slight murmur, there's no need to worry (ha!!). What will the chemo treatment consist of? Is it something given orally? The weight gain is awesome news!!

Another crazy day here too and again, my neck is killing me. I haven't hurt like this in a long time and it's more likely related to not getting the gym as much lately and the stress just makes it worse. Thank goodness ibuprofen helps but I MUST get back into my workout routine.

Julie and Cathy, I'm not going to worry about the murmur (repeat to myself often) because it was so slight but it did come as a surprise and caught me off guard.  Cathy, the chemo is an infusion (slow drip through an IV line but you probably know that) and the visit should take about an hour but the actual infusion should take about twenty or thirty minutes.  I'm hoping he has no major gastro problems from the treatment.  He's a tough little guy and I think he'll tolerate it ok.

Not that this is the same, but when I was first out on my own after my divorce 14 years ago, I was in a car accident on my way to work. The resulting injuries sent me to a D.O. for adjustment. He took my vitals, listened to my lungs, heart, etc. and told me I have a slight murmur. I'd never been told that previously or since. I do get my annual visits done and have had the odd cold or bronchitis that has sent me to a doctor. I asked and was told a murmur can be so slight it is insignificant and that it is often a subjective opinion made by the doctor who is listening. I've never really worried about it. (knock on wood)
