    Wednesday chat

Not much going on here. I took the dogs for a hike last night to the place I call "the pond". Well, the pond was bone dry. Not a drop of water to be seen. It usually gets low at the end of the summer but there will still be a couple feet of water in it. Not this year apparently. I kept listening for the splash when the dogs ran toward it then they would coming out all dry and was thinking wth! Then I saw through the trees - nothing. That's not good!

Abbie came home limping from our hike too. I talked to the vet about it and she suggested putting abbie to sleep and taking an xray. Can't they do xray's without putting the dog to sleep? I haven't had legs/joints xrayed before so I have no idea.

I got a parking ticket yesterday, 5 mins before I left work for the day. How annoying that I miscalculated my quarters and paid all day and still got a ticket! I think meter maids must be the most hated workers of all time.

Julie, I've had dogs xrayed without anesthesia.  Depends on the dog and the vet and what views they're trying to get.  Some dogs freak out and won't hold still and some vets just don't like to try and restrain a dog who is struggling too much. I had Belle xrayed (spine and hips) without anesthesia but she's calm at the vet.  Gabby would have to be anesthesized for sure.  I usually do two weeks of complete rest with nothing done off lead to see if whatever is causing the limp will heal with rest.  I know, I know.  That's not easy. :(

Twister has a vet appointment this morning with the new vet clinic I'm trying out.  He's fine just going in for heartworm test and to meet the vet.

Edit to say that Belle's calm once she's in an exam room with no other dogs. Sad

OMG Julie I almost had a heart attack when I read "putting Abbie to sleep" -- glad you only meant anesthesia! Whew! I hope she feels better soon and it's nothing serious

Just popping in to say "Hi"! All my spare time at work has been spent pumping for the munchkin, so I don't get nearly the idog time I used to. I'm still around sometimes though :)

gorgeous day - going to be much warmer (@90*)

B is still tired from swimming yesterday LOL but he was trying to run zoomies with the foster pup when psycho obese dog started barking again - scared the crap out of the poor puppy who bolted and we had a heck of a time catching up to him. I am really done with this guy's dogs and his behavior

    Have a good day everyone!!

    Me 3!

Went to the last of the birthing classes last night.  I guess it was nice to get some info about what to expect, but there are images from the videos that I will never get out of my head.

Apparently there no longer has to be a medical reason to induce, after 36 weeks you can just schedule it.  I don't think it's something I would do, but I can certainly see the appeal.  My Dad really wants to be there, but he's a truck driver and is planning on taking the week off, but when should he put in the request?  I know we'll both be bummed if he picks the wrong week and is on the other side of the country when it happens.  Especially if he takes off a week and its too early.

In other news, I would like some chocolate.

And, I do agree that meter maids are the devil in disguise.

ETA - Steph, please do some reading about "early" inductions before you go that route, regardless of how easy they are. I ended up induced, and I was 41 weeks and had labor start spontaneously. It was still an adventure and I feel it caused the baby some undue stress. My opinion, and your mileage may vary, but feel free to email or message me on FB if you want some more unsolicited advice :)

LOL that's actually exactly what I'm doing right now, reading about it.  I really don't think I would do it.  Something about not letting nature take its course (w/o medical reason) just doesn't sit right w/ me.  I was just noting that I could see the appeal.

Me 4 on the Abbie comment! Julie don't do that.

I am glad you are doing a lot of reading about it. A couple of my friends were induced early so it would be more convenient and both babies ended up having problems because they weren't ready (there's a reason why pregnancy takes 40 weeks). Riley was about 2 1/2 weeks early; however, I think they had the due date wrong from the beginning anyhow.

I thought they could do xrays with no anesthesia. It seems around here, they will do them on dogs up to a certain size at the health clinics. After 40-50lbs, they seem not to do it.

My 7 AM client didn't answer the door this morning. I understand their was no school today, but yesterday, they thought he had off tomorrow instead of today. I was pretty sure this was an error on the school calendar, and indicated so. Sure enough, it was. Umm... nope, I'm not coming back out to your house now that you realized you're going to be home all day with him driving you nuts. Actually, now I can't, because by the time she called me, I would have had to have been on the way there. I already scheduled someone else for extra time today, because his parents realized last week that he had off today and asked me to do it. I never said I wasn't coming today, otherwise I would have said I wasn't coming today and asked when we could reschedule it. I did say I wasn't coming on Wednesday two weeks from now, but not today. I'm semi-bitter about this because I couldn't really get back to sleep when I got back home. Plus, I have to get up early tomorrow, which is typically my day off to go to jury duty, and I have to get up early Friday too to go to a meeting, and maybe earlier to reschedule this kid.

Another "Julie you scared the crap out of me" here.

I'm up to my eyeballs in work, but I just want to share this: DS IS MOVING OUT. He started packing last night, with the goal of being out by Monday October 1st. WOOOOOO HOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!

After the hazmat team cleans, party at my place - everyone is invited - including dogs!

The town next to me is infamous for writing parking tickets. Thankfully, I've never gotten one since I rarely park there during prime time.

Tonight two of my coworkers, my Mom and one of my coworkers Mom and Aunt are all going to see Celtic Thunder!  I've been looking forward to this for months.

I think I may have scarred Moki for life with the vacuum cleaner last night.  I was vacuuming the guest room (aka Moki's room) and she normally hides under the bed or lays on top of the bed.  Well she was under it, but decided to come scurrying out just as I was making a pass with the vacuum and I kinda knocked into her.  I did not know my itty bitty 7 lbs kitty could jump so high.  She refused to come out of hiding for a couple of hours and gave me more than one peeved look.  We've since made up, but man was she not happy!

Julie, I hope you wrap yourself in Charmin before logging back on because you sure are getting a lot of virtual kicks in the butt!! (from me too!) Wink

Just popping in to say hi! I'm a busy bee and today is my kidless, work-my-butt-off day!

Oh and btw, it was 26 degrees out while waiting for the bus this morning! Indifferent
