I think those blue tarps look nice. Stick out tongue We took advantage of the fact that we'd had hail storms a few months before and our insurance paid for all but the deductible.  Even though the roof was old, since it did have damage from hail, the insurance covered it.

Well here is how our insurance works....the whole neighborhood got roof money during either the hail last spring or the ice storm the winter of 2010.  Not us.  Our insurance company gave us only enough to replace one small area where the trees knocked off the shingles (approx $400) during the ice storm. We have had to piece meal the roof (the house is over 100 years old) 1/3 was done in 2008 and 1/3 was done in 2006.  This left only one steep slope in front and the porch that was done in 1994.  The insurance company told us they would not pay for any roof damage until the whole roof is replaced.  I asked if we just did the last 1/3 and they said no...the whole roof.  Changing insurance companies is not an option we were grandfathered in to this company cause we are so far from town.  The roof is not critical but just thought while I was having to borrow for the HVAC I might as well get the roof and get the insurance company satisfied.

Jackie, My house is blue so I think blue tarp would match quite well...I may have to either invest in some new bugees or I understand (HGTV) they now make color coordinated Duct Tape Wink

. I think I may text my sister (who is a nurse) hopefully she will answer, and see what she thinks.

I would call the doctor who does the allergy shots and tell them about the reaction and how long after the shot you felt like you couldn't breathe.

I agree with Jackie. They do make you wait around after the shot, right? I'm sorry you went through that and I'm sure it was scary, which didn't help the way you were feeling.

Julie - I hope the pain meds and antibiotics are helping now. I can't believe how awful this has been for you.

Deb - ROFL!! That was good!

Working on setting up an appt for Shane with a TCVM vet and had to ask the cardiologist for the report she'd never sent me. Very depressing to read. She did think a TCVM vet would be helpful though, so I want to get him in. If nothing else, it'll make me feel like we're being proactive.

I felt the same depression when I got the report from the oncologist on Twister.  Even though you've been told the details, reading the cold, hard medical facts is so depressing.  I hope the TCVM vet helps Shane.  Give him some extra scritches from me.

I wouldn't wish this pain on anyone and it hurts the most when I lie down so it makes it hard to even get any rest.

    Julie:

Back when I was in my late 20s maybe early 30s (a while ago) I had a problem with fluid in the middle ear in one of my ears.  Since the fluid never drained, the ear never dried so the infection would never go away.  The fluid built up so much that it punctured my ear drum (just a small pin hole - not anywhere near what you have).  I saw about a million docs but it was like a never ending cycle.  Finally I wound up with this specialist from Cedars-Sinai.  He actually used this vacuum type thing to suck the fluid out of my ear.  After about 5 treatments the fluid finally dried up and the infection was able to heal.  I don't know if this procedure is used anymore, but it might be worth looking into.

I saw them suck the stuff out of kids ears like Deb described. One of the things about the shots is, I am terrified of needles, and I have reacted afterwards. I'm fine now, and it's been a while. They do Make me wait a half hour. I'm actually seeing the doctor Monday, so I'll see what she thinks then.

Julie -- I am so sorry about your ears -- words pale in comparison to how you feel.  I am just so sorry.

Fair warning ladies, do NOT read the ME's report on a loved one.  Mike's about put me in a coma and that was just scanning.

Julie, you might want to try sleeping in a recliner or pick up a bed wedge that will really elevate your torso and head.  I did both (alternately) when I had shoulder and neck surgeries and it's the only way I could sleep.

Lapeer, huh?  I suppose that COULD be the jerk, my ex and by golly if it was, DS is going to be filing suit for the 35,000 in back child support, PLUS interest that he owes us.  I'm sure he'll settle just to make it go away.......$50k has a nice ring to it.

Yes, we know, since you shared the info about Mike's report in a mindless thread without warning us. I get that you are grieving, but I did not particularly want to read that, and there it was before I realized what it was and could skip the post.

Hi Kate, I'm reading about everyone's Thursday and saw your Rainbow bridge passing. My English Springer Spaniel Bella passed away June-9th-2010. She was my first big fur baby. I had her 10 yrs. She was my best, best friend. We were glued to the hip from the first time I found her alone and crying on a freezing Winter morning. I still miss her and still cry when I think of her. Just felt like sharing that.

Hi Julie, I'm sorry to hear you had such a painful night. I do hope that your feeling much better today. I will keep you in my thoughts and prayers.

Glenda, I'm so jealous that you live in England! I would love to live there. I am a book worm and most of my reading is about England & London. There all mystery/detective books and it seems to always be just the perfect setting :-).

Donna, Glenda lives in NEW England (which is another awesome place to live, by the way!)  Wink  But I'm a book worm, too, and many of my favorite titles are mysteries set in English villages.  If you haven't read any of her books, you might like to try the Inspector Richard Jury series written by Martha Grimes.  She's an American author, yet those books are set in England.  The titles are all pub names.  The first one is called The Man with a Load of Mischief.  She writes other books that are also very good, but I love the Jury series.

Julie, with all you've been going through, I don't think a "pity party" is the right phrase.  You deserve a pity gala or a pity mob or something larger.  The pain you're having warrants a whole TON of complaining, in my opinion!  I sure hope you get some relief soon.

The process of getting bids for major house projects is overwhelming and frustrating.  That kind of stuff is when I really miss living in an apartment.  Then it's the landlord's problem dealing with that (assuming you have a responsible landlord, that is).  Homeownership is not always the joy people say it is!

So thoughtful of you Tina to take me to task publicly for finding it difficult to deal with the death of a child.  May no one here ever have that pain.
    • Gold Top Dog

Glenda, I am not taking you to task for your grief, only that you chose to post ME information on a public forum without thinking how others might feel or if they'd even want to read it. My mother was killed in a car wreck and I'm sure the details of her death would not be something everyone would want to read.

For someone who demands we warn you of snake pictures, you could have shown us the same courtesy about something far more graphic.

Julie - I know it might be against your basic beliefs Wink - but you might want to go to U of M to see a specialist.  I feel so awful that you are in so much with no relief.  I can't even imagine!!  (((HUGS)))

Didn't even realize the winner was from Lapeer - I should check with my friend that lives there - or maybe he's already quit LOL
