    Yippeee! It's Friday chat.

    From yesterday:

Kate, Providence Memorial Auditorium.  Spare son #1 called last nite to be sure we'd stick around for dinner with the family after the show.

I am not a shopper.  And especially for clothing when i've got so much stuff sitting in storage in MI I hate to spend $$ on new stuff.  So, me shopping is a pretty big deal, and yeah, the votes helped me to decide!  It's like Christmas and all new stuff when I start digging in there!

Lisa, as a survivor of BOTH types of abuse, let me just say that the mental MUST come before the physical.  This kind of stuff can scare children for life.  My mother once mentioned the size of my feet.  I spent years thinking I had gigantic, ugly, wierd feet.  I wear a size 8 shoe.  She said it without malice and without meaning to create a negative mental picture, but, it stuck with me for like 40+ years until I read that size 8 is AVERAGE.  I'm glad you are able to intercede.

Must start the marathon of today.  I'm doing a 2 hour job fair for the boss, THEN doing all my normal stuff so it's going to be insane. And, I WILL find time to squeak into a store or two!

Hope everyone has a great day!

Why hasn't anyone made me a Bloody Mary yet ??

Sorry Deb - I am on it!

Working from home today since DH has a doc appt.  Watching Boomerang cartoons with Riley and writing a report.  The sad truth is the cartoon is far less distracting than my coworkers.

Working with some clients in China over the next few months and they want daily nightly conference calls (because of the time change) - sure, I wasn't planning on doing anything at night for the next 45 days.

WE HAVE NOTHING PLANNED FOR THIS WEEKEND!!!!! YAHOOOOOOO  Although it is rainy and dreary, but just happy not to have to rush to a BBQ, party, out of town, etc.  We do have a magic show at the library tomorrow, but I am not counting that.

so very tired. Sleep is not coming easily these days.

Lisa, that is a tough situation. I don't know what I would do in your shoes. I like the idea of getting her hooked up with the school counselor.

    • Gold Top Dog

Deb, I had to drink the first one...sorry.

Lisa, from yesterday, I would make contact with a school counselor on your niece's behalf and tell her your concerns. The counselor might then be able to speak to your niece. It's a tough situation, for sure.

    Rainy day here.

I'm using a sick day today. Probably the last sick day of my career Big Smile. DH is working, so it'll just be Shane and me trying to stay cool inside. I'm going to take him for a walk soon since it's still on the coolish side. Just my luck that our cable seems to be out but maybe it's a sign that I need to get some stuff done.

Lisa - I wish you luck with the issue with your sister's children. Something very similar happened with one of DH's sisters and another sister tried to intervene and it didn't go well. The 2 sisters have just now started talking again after about 2 years. It's a tough spot to be in and I hope you're able to get through to your sister.

A spicy Bloody Mary sounds really good now. Thanks Deb!

Thanks everyone.  I thought about it alot last night and think I am definitely going to go the school counsler route.  At least my niece will have someone to talk to.  With them being 15 and 16 it makes it hard.

I just talked to my sister we are OK and I don't want to cut off contact because then my nieces won't have anyone.

Yes, exactly. That's what happened with DH's nephew. I guess I'm less optimistic than I used to be about people being open to honesty and help. It all seems good in theory but people can be very defensive, especially when it comes to their children or spouse. Even I'm guilty of picking on my DH but getting very defensive when anyone else does Big Smile

Mental abuse can leave scars.  Heck I'm 30 and still dealing with the mental abuse I endured from my Dad as a child (my brother got both mental and physical abuse).  That's a tough situation and I do not envy your position, but I think being open about how you feel is important.

TGIF indeed and a bloody mary does sound good.  BTW the tequila soaked watermelon slices were meh lol; I tried them out last weekend.  My friend loved them though.

I really hate when people avoid my calls.  Calls being to employees who don't check their schedule online and I need to make sure the schedule I put up for them will actually work for them, otherwise I need to find someone else.  Why can't people act like an adult and either pick up their phone, or call me back to say yes or no?  I have to assume if you don't it's a no and then inevitably they gripe about not getting enough hours!  Seriously....

Glenda, your outfit will be perfect.

Lisa, the counselor route is a good plan.

I'm on my way out the door to go to a conference on organic farming--I need something that is completely unrelated to anything I do work-wise, and this is it. (I went last year and learned a ton about gardening, etc.)

Hugs for all who need them.

I have missed most everything that happened this week.  Hope all is well!

ETA: Just got a call from my Granddaughter....lunch with Grandma today...yipppee!

That's what we use.  Its *ok* most of the time, but it seems like when it breaks its a struggle for IT to get fixed.
