    Saturday Chatting

    Happy Birthday Barb!

WOW!  It seems like forever since I have posted (maybe a few days).  It was a crazy week with Kings Island with family, work and my grade school reunion.  Kings Island was a blast.  Although, I am paying for it now.  Within 36 hours we drove 10 hours there and back, rode rides and general amusement park craziness for 10 hours and swam like crazy kids in the hotel pool.  Thursday night when we got back I asked Riley what her favorite part of the trip was...swimming in the pool.  Well heck, we could have done that at teh holiday inn down the street Big Smile.  That goes to show you kids don't care about the fancy stuff, its the family fun stuff that is the best.  One point all of us kids/grandkids were in the hotel pool doing chicken fights, races, hand stand contests, etc and I looked over and my mom was crying.  When asked she said she was just so happy to see all of us having fun and no one trying to kill each other.  It was an excellent trip!  The coasters at KI were fairly excellent and my brother bought us all Fast Lane passes which means you don't have to stand in line for the rides so we definitely rode the max amount you can in the time we were there.

Jackie - I wanted to say ((((HUGS))), Karen kept me up to date on Twister because I couldn't get to the forum when I was gone.

Other than that, today will be catch up day and tomorrow is a big family reunion picnic.  There is always that last minute summer rush to get everything in and we are definitely feeling it!

That is SO sweet.  And, I can relate.  I was seriously just thinking about my granddaughters this morning (I haven't seen them in too long).  They fight and bicker constantly.  I can't wait for the day that they can come over and just relax and have a nice visit.  Right now they are 13, 12 and 9.  And, the younger two are the worst about fighting.  Ugh.

Last night, I realized that I'm just not ready yet to be without my knee wheeler 100%.  I'll keep at trying to walk...but it just hurts too much.  I'm doing ok with the exercises, that doesn't hurt.  They are having me do circles with my foot/ankle each way.  And, motioning the alphabet with the foot/ankle.  Late next week, I start the theraband exercises to build strength.  Baby steps, means baby steps.

Also last night about 8pm...I was not feeling well and Rick suggested I just go to bed and watch TV.  Typically, I've been doing that about 9:30 every night.  He tucks me in, puts the dogs to bed...then he can have some well-deserved alone time.  But, last night when he suggested I go to bed at 8pm, I got my feelings hurt.  I'm not feeling well...and of course, that makes me ultra sensitive.  I didn't go.  I sat on the couch and was pissy, until 10pm, then I went to bed.  LOL

This morning, I wake up and roll into the living/kitchen area...and what do I see?  A gorgeous bouquet of flowers, a birthday card AND, a cake mix/frosting.  Poor sleeping guy walks into the kitchen, sings me Happy Birthday; and says:  The reason I wanted you to go back to the bedroom was because I wanted to make this cake and surprise you.  Indifferent

Man oh man, do I feel like a big heel.

That made me cry and laugh!  Thanks for the hugs, Lisa.  :)

We went out last night and had a good time. We didn't do anything special, just our fav restaraunt but we both got giggly (DH giggly is pretty funny) and were doing silly kissy stuff and probably making all the other diners go "eww, look at those old folks". I am not a demonstrative person and neither is DH so it was way out of character but that's what made it fun. lol  Our waitress said we made her miss her husband who is serving overseas.  She was a sweetie and we left her a big tip. Big Smile

I'm doing a load of laundry and then we're going for a quick park romp with the dogs.  I've got tons of chores and obligations today but may blow off a few in favor of fun.

Wow all of your posts made me smile! Barb, what a sweet man you are married to. Happy bday! I am happy that you are all having a good couple of days with people you love :)

Not much going on here. I slept until 9:30, can hardly believe that, but I have nothing going on today so it is all good. I have a bunch of maybe I will do this and maybe I will do that but for the most part I am going to chill in the AC and read a book and watch some olympics.

Happy Birthday, Barb!  Cake  Don't feel too bad about last night because there's no way you could have known Rick had that planned and you sure have earned a pissy mood now and then. I hope you have a great day.  (((hugs)))

The park was crowded because everyone has to get out and play early because it's too hot otherwise.  We did a few laps around the park and the dogs are happy and tired.  Some kids at the playground area came running over to see the dogs and Twister was in doggie heaven with all the attention.  Belle and Rex just wanted to keep moving. lol

Wow what wonderful posts!!!!!!!! (well Julie yours was kind of boring...as mine will be too LOL) Thanks for sharing those warm moments and smiles!

Tired here - all of us LOL

I am getting anxious about getting everything done before the Cancun trip - I am away this week in Minneapolis (looking forward to meeting Mindy &friends!!) and have a ton of stuff booked before my mom arrives. I need to make a binder full of instructions for her with phone numbers.

Meanwhile Bugsy started this weird front end movement thing on Monday, was fine Wed & Thursday but it started again yesterday afternoon. He doesn't seem to be in pain but hard to tell with him. My best guess is some sort of neck thing or a shoulder thing. I videoed it and am going to schedule an appt with the ortho guy asap. The only other thought I had was it could be middle/inner ear but his ears are so clean and no smell so can't understand how it can be an ear thing. Anyway his head is swaying and dipping as he gaits. It looks terrible but if he's in any discomfort he is a master of disguise as I've gone over ever part of his 'arms' and neck and not found any discomfort. He ran around like a fool last night with the baby golden for ages, jumped into my car this morning when I opened the lift gate, is flying up and down stairs. Shrugs

Happy Birthday Barb!!! Party!!! Once again, Rick shows what a great husband he is. Lucky you!!

Jackie - your date night sounds wonderful. How is Twister doing?

Up early to see DH off to work and now I need to get some cleaning done. I'm taking Shane to a pet store today for a Homeward Bound fundraiser. This will be a new experience, so wish us luck Big Smile

Our heat wave broke last night and it's cooler and we might even get some thunderstorms later today. A little rain would be a very nice thing to see.

Happy Birthday, Barb! (I'll be joining you at 53 in a couple weeks.) I hope your pain goes away soon--that just doesn't sounds like fun at all.

Twister, it sounds like you had a blast at the park with the kids.

Lisa, what a fun mini-vacation! Have fun at your picnic tomorrow, too!

It's just palin hot and humid here--I'm working on a huge report and it seems to be going no where. May a quick swim later will help.

Hugs for all who need them.

Shane had a great time and acted like a dream at the fundraiser. People really oooh and ahhh over him and he loves the attention. I wish that everyone would help deter the jumping up but they actually encourage it and then apologize when I say "I'm sorry. I'm trying to train him not to do that". He met several other dogs and liked them all too. It was hot and muggy though, so I needed to get him home and he's now konked out.

Happy Birthday, Barb! You share this day with my dad, but hes 57. The PNW welcomes summer today with a high of 89!

Happy Birthday to your Dad, Tiffy. :)

My cousin in the nursing home is doing so much better. She was glowing with pride when I went to see her today.:) She's now walking with a walker and is able to get in and out of bed by herself.  It won't be long before she's ready to get out of there.  Pretty great progress for someone who was told she was ready to go to hospice a few months ago.  Her health problems aren't all gone but what a huge improvement.

We recorded the women's triatholon and off to watch that now.

Happy Birthday, Barb!  By the time you see this (if you do see it), it won't be your birthday anymore!  What a sweet husband you have.

Wow, Tiffy, your temps were a lot lower than ours here in the mid-valley.  It hit 102* today -- (broke the previous record).  I stayed near A/C during the worst of it today.  I'm outside now and it's still warm (89*), but with no humidity and the sun nearly setting, it's comfortable.  Ruby is enjoying it out here now, too.

Our local humane society held its first 5K run/walk this morning (dogs invited).  It was a big success -- they ran out of bib numbers due to so many last minute registrations.  I did the walk with some friends (I don't run unless someone yells, "Fire!" and even then I might assess the situation before picking up my pace).  Ruby is hard for me to handle on leash in the best of circumstances, so the thought of trying to keep her calm in a throng of people and dogs was not appealing.  DH was going to bring her but had to stay home to let the tile guy in.  But I saw several friends' dogs.  Luckily, we were done before 11am, so it wasn't too hot yet.

Lisa, sounds like you had an awesome getaway with your family.  I have friends that experience family times like that, too.  So foreign to me, since my family is very small and not particularly close (geographically and emotionally).  What a wonderful childhood it makes for Riley.

The western sky has some pinkish-purple clouds in it right now (it's not dark yet, but getting there).  So beautiful.  Between that, a couple birds still chirping a bit, and my neighbor's dinner on the grill that smells delicious --- I've got some good sensory input tonight!

Today we were in the 80's (29 C). All the dogs were dead on the floor all day.. Even now at 1am, it's still 20c...
