    Saturday chat

And it's certainly a sleepy one here.  I think I have finally figured out the cause and effect of this, but sometimes I forget and pay for it.  If I don't drink enough water during the day, and then I have the second glass of wine, I will be wakened by heavy duty charlie horse type cramps on the outside of my calf.  Almost feels like someone is digging a knife into a 4 or 5 inch stretch of bone.  It's gotta be the two things together...not enough water and the 2nd glass, or it doesn't happen.  But, telling you, I get really crabby when my sleep is interrupted for any reason.  And poor DH....he hovers and that just annoys me more.  A sleep deprived me is NOT a pretty thing.

Another hot and muggy day here.  We are getting some rain, but seemingly just enough to feed the sauna.  This has been a pretty brutal summer.  Guess its our payback for having a mild winter.  I can handle cold but this heat just wipes me out.  Supposed to get storms both today and tomorrow which means no clothes on the line and since I won't turn that heat belching dryer on, guess I'll just hang things inside.

So, late yesterday afternoon I got to go out and shoot some cops.  11 of them.  I'm writing an article on the provisional police that one of the tiny villages uses for traffic control and luckily I got all 11 photographed yesterday so I don't need to go traipsing after pics today.  It's a hoot to see how excited people get about the idea of their picture being in the paper.  I HATE having my pic taken, but......

Many things to do today, including getting an article finished that's going to be in THIS weeks paper.  Now to find the motivation.....

Wishing everyone a great day.  Paige, thinking of you.  Sending good vibes to Twister too.

And I thought I slept late today...

I'm working on editing the videos of Luke from last night (many thanks to Steph for taking the video for us). He didn't do really well catching last night (boo, he needed to so he could start racing with the team). Someone else who has a cavalier in training was watching him though. They said theirs did the same things as him, so they me some tips on what worked for theirs. We'll be trying it in the upcoming practices. Thanks to the video. I can see in the video that he is getting up higher when he makes a catch. I've had video of him before, and I guess the angle of it was never right and it wasn't close enough to the box or something that I could tell a difference. If I had only known I might want to compete with him, I would never had let him learn the way he did. At least now I do have some better ideas on how to fix his issues.

I'm watching cycling. I like that when the commercials come on, unless they are Olympic related, at least on my tv, they are silent. Is that happening for anyone else?

Good morning all! Glenda, I took a double take when I read you went out to shoot some cops yesterday. :-) After I realized you meant shooting with a camera, I thought...WHAT FUN! Best of luck with the article! From last night...Jackie...I've in that same boat being ticked at Rick for some stupid remark. I typically stare out the passenger window looking at anything but his mug. Then it can leak into ignoring him while at the table in the eatery. Ha! He is always forgiven, and we move on and sometimes chuckle about it later. How is Twister today? Man oh man...when you are completely immobile and entirely dependant on the hubs...there is nothing better than a chair shower and washing your hair. :-) I feel human this morning. Anyone interested in the Olympics?
    • Gold Top Dog

Hey Barb!  Good to "see" you.  Chair shower?  Whats going on with you?

I do a fair amount of writing for the little paper I work for.  Right now our editor is in London for his honeymoon, at the Olympics, so the boss has asked for a little extra from me.  A story on the local Futures Collegiate League team, for this week and then two for next weeks edition.  One of those is done, thankfully, but need to sit down and crank out the bb team one today.  I've actually written most of it, now just need to dig through the info scattered all over the place and do a brief bit on each of the 30 players!  This is a good place for me to be...I can sell and write and that satisfies my creative urge too.

I did get a chuckle out of my son when I told him I needed to get going so I could shoot some cops!  tehe!

Hey Jen...think the mods are all sleeping in, but we've already got a chat going so maybe move your stuff over there?

Good morning all! Glenda, I took a double take when I read you went out to shoot some cops yesterday. :-)

I did the same thing! I thought, my goodness, what in the world is Glenda doing!?!?!

I've got the Olympics on--tennis right now, but I'll switch around. I tried to stay up for the whole opening show, but only made it (with some dozing) until the US team entered. I do wish they'd show some of the Paralympics on TV (they take place after the "able bodied" games), but probably not. At least some of the ads are including paralympians--I think the Vets who are participating have brought some attention to those games.

    OK, off to do dishes.

    Had to edit.

Sorry about the lack of paragraph breaks.  Apparently, my smart phone is not so smart, afterall.  Embarrassed

Glenda, I had surgery on June 27th to repair a perineal tendon tear in my left foot.  This is the longest ever recovery of my life!  It's been a month, and I'm still not allowed to walk or bear any weight on my foot.  So, I'm getting around on a knee wheeler.  Thank goodness too, because I have zero upper body strength for crutches.

We watched the first hour of the Olympics opening...I enjoyed it.  Rick, not so much!  He got bored quickly...and when I rolled outside for a minute to take the dogs out for a business trip...he changed the channel to a movie.  LOL

I watched a bit of the bike race and we have women's basketball on now.  But, I'm really looking forward to watching the Fab 5 tomorrow.

I'm glad I'm not the only one who did a double take when reading that Glenda was on the way out to shoot some cops. Big Smile

I missed about the first 1/2 hr. of the opening ceremonies, but caught the rest of it.  I thought they did an amazing job.

Apparently DS #1 snuck into the yard very early this a.m. and left a big cardboard statue of the Travelocity gnome dressed in an Elvis cape and holding a "Happy Birthday" balloon, and there wasn't a sound from Max when the gate opened.  Some watchdog he is!  Still, unless someone really is coming to kill us, I guess it's better if he doesn't bark.

Joyce I guess this means its your birthday..............

    HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!! Cake

    and many more!

not much else going on here - more storms, more heat, more mushrooms

watching a ton of Olympic coverage and wish it was easier to know what was on what channel and when

    • Gold Top Dog
Hi Barb *waving* - it's good to see you here, even thought I had seen about the foot surgery on FB. I hope you're up and around soon.

Happy Birthday Joyce!!! I hope your guys do something special for you today.

Jackie - I could totally relate to the remark in the car almost ruining dinner. I'm glad a couple of margaritas turned the night around :). I hope Twister is doing really good today. I wasn't sure from what you said about the path report if it was just generally upsetting or there was something new in it.

I'm getting a little schizo trying to watch all the channels the olympic events are on. I really want to see all things equestrian but that's usually tricky to find. We've got the DVR working overtime to record stuff but it won't be long before it's maxed out.

DH met me at the bank this morning after his bike ride and we got the retirement docs notarized - hallelujah!!

I hope everyone has a great Saturday.

This is how a single, 34 year old woman spends Friday night. Babysitting. A 2 1/2 year old and a 10 year old, both boys. Man, 2 year olds are quite active and have the attention span of a gnat. Big Smile I was wiped when I got home. It was also a little trip down memory lane. I babysat the 10 year old all the time, when he was a little boy. We watched Toy Story 3 and I was very entertained. All in all a good night. Its good to do something different.

Barb, sending my bestest heal quick vibes.

    HAPPY BIRTHDAY JOYCE!!!!!!!!

I did a ton of picking in the garden between storms.  We are supposed to get 1-3 inches today and even tho it's the weekend and I have outside stuff to do, I welcome every drop we get.  I can already go barefoot again without have crunchy grass hurt my feet!  Yipeeee!  I really hate shoes.

    • Gold Top Dog

Happy Birthday, Joyce!  What a funny sight that must've been to find in your yard this morning.  I might've asked myself, "Just how much celebrating did I do last night?  There's a weird Elvis Gnome in my yard!"

Hi, Barb!  Nice to "see" you!  I'm one of those not on Facebook, so I didn't know about your foot surgery and recovery woes.  It would be a tough situation anytime, but probably worse in the summer when you want to wear things like sandals and less-supportive shoes.  A therapy boot isn't exactly cool summer footwear!  Did you injure your foot somehow to cause the tear, or was it just something that happened over time?  I hope the rest of the recovery period is quick and without any obstacles!

Why is it that an evening with a spouse can turn on a dime from just one comment made in the car, yet I can't imagine something like that ever happening with a friend?  I'm dealing with a DH who is crabby about a painting project this weekend (that he insisted on doing -- not my original idea -- I even suggested hiring someone to do it).  He's grumbling so much that he may be poor company when we meet our friends for dinner later.  I think the stereotype of women being moody or temperamental isn't quite accurate!  Tongue Tied

    • Gold Top Dog

Happy Birthday, Joyce!!  What a funny thing to see in your yard first thing in the morning.  Max sez he knew it wasn't really Elvis so why bark? lol

Cathy, I watched the dressage today and as always I'm in awe of the beauty and power of the horses and the bond the riders have with them.  I know what you mean about having everything recorded but having trouble finding what you want to watch.  I got lucky with the dressage because DH noticed it was on and told me.  I wonder if they'll cover any of the cross country?

I found the opening ceremonies sort of strange.  I liked the clips of the athletes carrying the torch.

Twister isn't eating too well but he's still peeing ok and that's a good thing.  Hopefully, once he recovers completely from the surgery aftereffects he'll feel better. He looks so thin to me and it breaks my heart that he has to stay crated quite a bit because he's incontinent right now.  I'd use a belly band but don't want his incision to be covered with a urine soaked pad.

We're going to grill some burgers but it's so freakin hot I can't imagine spending that long outside.  Maybe DH will volunteer for grill duty.

Tracy, I hope your DH gets over his bad mood so you can enjoy the evening with your friends.

Bugsy is a little jerk, OK not that little.

He is about as good of a guard dog as Max though. We had a little AC emergency and the tech arrived to a wiggling, ball carrying mutt! The tech said, "wow he could be scary but the ball really ruins it for him" lol

Jackie have you tried really stinky food for T?

Mr Jackie get ye to the grill!

Tracy my DH is MUCH moodier than me Edit to correct autocorrect
