2nd Monday chat (Thursday)

Here we go again....Monday all over again. LOL. At least its an extremely short week!

We were supposed to get storms yesterday that would clear out the humidity. Didn't happen. Darn it. Now they are saying Saturday night so shall keep the fingers crossed yet again.

Yesterday was so jam packed. We had to be at the parade at 8:30, never moved until 11:15 and finally finished around 1:30. Then the ball game last night. It was just too steamy to hang around for the fireworks....the only ones in town. I was starting to feel like a hard boiled egg by 9PM. Aside from being an overly busy day, it was kind of fun, as it always is.

Off I go to seek my fortune (time for work Wink ) Have a great day everyone!

The 103 degree temps plus the 450% humidity have obviously affected my ability to count. I'd feel much better about it if I was at an ocean beach with a tall cool drink in my hand and a bevy of cabana boys serving my every need. Stick out tongue

I ended up taking a shower when I got home at 1 am. I was so stinking sweaty, I couldn't stand myself anymore. That was the best shower ever! Now I am sleepy tired though. I am glad that I took a vacation day today!

It is supposed to be another 105 degree day. It is going to start cooling off on sunday though. I can't wait. Then I have to go to the UP and it is usually 10 degrees cooler up there so that will be refreshing.

I got all sappy over the fireworks last night. They were pretty good for such a small town. Plus we had a big group with us which made it double the fun. I got into a big discussion about doping and professional sports. My bros neighbor is all for letting people dope. I disagree so it was a lively conversation haha then we discussed the tour and olympics...good stuff. This is a good time of year for all the sporting events I like :)

Julie I am anti-doping but will say that it is here to stay. Not sure what can be done. It has been a part of cycling all the way back into the '60's

Murphy's law is alive and well at our house. This isn't doing much good for my irritability

trying to find a positive to end on..................................

we did get some MUCH needed rain from the storms last night

That was nice of him.

We had a good time last night. A couple of the neighbors had their grandkids over so we had them over to our place and lit sparklers, ate ice cream and watched the fireworks. The night was pretty nice - not too hot and humid and the kids had a blast. The amount and size of fireworks was insane. You can definitely tell the law changed.

I have a raging headache this morning though probably from the crazy change in air pressure. Working on the 33nd floor is not helping let me tell you!

DH surprised me yesterday by buying an iPad. I guess he's been saving his weekly spending money (yes we both get allowances) for a while. I guess my iPad vs. Kindle Fire thread is obsolete LOL

It rained last night, but it didn't help the heat and humidity a bit. Today's high is 93 with 76% humidity. Saturday is supposed to be 100. Luke is going to have a tough night at weight pulling, and flyball tomorrow will be tough too. The weight pull area doesn't have air. The flyball area does, but it's not enough for him. I'll have to be sure to pack his cooling coat in ice water. Tuesday, the nurse wouldn't give me my allergy shots because I had a cough. Today, a different nurse didn't even ask. I'm going to have a cough for 3-5 years to be honest. I get why she wouldn't do it, but they should be consistent at least.

Sorry for those still enduring the heat wave. We're hot and humid but not into the 100's. Yet. Glad you got some rain Karen.

Today does seem like a second Monday. Traffic was super light due to many being off for the holiday. Not that I deal with much traffic on my short commute. DH is on his own at work today and tomorrow. The gal he works with is in Dallas to watch her daughter compete in the Miss Texas competition. DH said the mom has been a nervous wreck. Her daughter got chicken pox two weeks ago and she was all worried about how her daughter would look for the contest. Odd that she'd never had them as a child. Sounds like she's a stage mom but I guess it's better than those moms who push their young daughters into that sort of competition. Angry I'm not a fan of beauty contests and never have been, at any age. To each their own as long as they're consenting adults.

We did end up with a few fools popping fireworks on our street last night. I put Twister's thundershirt on and that helped but it doesn't completely allieviate his stress. I didn't call the cops because it stopped after about ten minutes.

I thought Shane might be getting a little wound up when the neighbors started setting fireworks off last night, so I gave him some Rescue Remedy and he was just fine. I don't think he was actually scared but more wanted to go find the source of the noises. With the help of ear plugs and Rescue Remedy, we all went to sleep with no problems.

Karen - I'm sorry about the grouchy mood and hope it lifts for you.

DH is working today and tomorrow and I'm off. It feels really strange to have 5 days off in a row. I'll take Shane for a walk soon and do some cleaning but I really don't have any other plans. It's so hard for me to relax and enjoy free time with nothing to do but I'm determined to figure it out :).

It's breezy and chilly this morning but will be close to 90 later today and then by Sunday, we're up in the 100s. I knew this wonderful summer weather couldn't last forever.

He does look like Twister (without Twister's gray hairs) and Twister is just the type to decide to get on a train to see where it might take him. Stick out tongue Twister is a mama's boy and would quickly want off once he discovered I wasn't on board. lol How cool that the train tweeted about him and that his owner claimed him quickly since the train people were ready to keep him. :)

I decided to go do an hour of work on my flowers - the dry stretch and extreme heat have taken their toll Sad

I cannot stop sweating despite being in AC with a ceiling fan on high and having showered. The rain has made excellent sauna conditions. Ice cream for lunch I think Stick out tongue
