Jackie, you can come and hang with me. We'll make Miss Gripey Pants sit by herself until her attitude improves. Wink

Karen - is it possible you're still sick? I hope you feel better soon both physically and mentally. I honestly can't imagine what it's like for all the people who've been baking in the heat and had no power. Ugh!!

I was just going thru some stuff and found an unopened box of Atopica. I knew I had a few in an opened box and I don't know why I'd been hanging on to it. I'm going to stop by the allergy clinic and if they'll give me a refund, great, but if not, I'll let them donate it to someone. They did the same for me when they wanted me to try it with Sassy but I was hesitating. I love the vet and her assistant, so I'm going to take Shane and introduce him. Hopefully I can keep from crying like a baby when I talk about Sassy. They loved her tons and were so good to her :(.

     You guys are too funny.

It really does feel like Monday today.  I feel all off kilter today at work.  While I don't mind having another day off, having one midweek is just odd.

I wish I could go kayaking or tubing down the river today.  However, since I'm call - I figure water and a pager really aren't a good mix. Maybe I should get some cleaning done....

103 here. This is Wisconsin for cryin' out loud! No AC but the basement's cool.So glad I have off tonight that place is going to be a sweatbox.I feel a little crabby myself.Time to dig through my dvds and watch something funny.

Wow--way too hot all over!  We'd don't have AC either, Tina, and it is hot. I don't think anyone has central air here on the island--maybe a window unit in a bedroom, but that's about it. We have fans. I may need to go swimming in a bit. They said it wouldn't be as humid today, but it feels really sticky to me! I did manage to get my kitchen cleaned and the floor washed today.

Hugs for all who need them! Extra prayers for all the firefighters out in the west (and everyone affected by the fires.

Someone told me this morning that one of the big fireworks displays in San Diego turned out to be a real dud.  They were setting them off from barges out in the middle of the bay and for some reason they all went off at once ... one huge, explosive, 15 second long fireworks display. Hmm I imagine  that anyone who drove any distance and had to deal with traffic congestion to see that was pretty ticked off.

It was really cool (almost borderline chilly) this morning, but it's supposed to get to the mid to high 90s by late this afternoon and maybe  triple digits by the weekend.

DS #1 had planned to get up early today and walk around the park with a metal detector looking for lost change and other treasures, but I don't think he made it.

Interesting day already - I'm covering an executive admin job b/c the woman who was doing it went home sick.  Poor thing was seriously ill.  I'm thinking I should have found some lysol for this desk!

Aaanyway, had a nice long weekend that lasted from Sat until yesterday.  My 4th was pretty low key, watching my friends' sons blow up fireworks that they positioned inside a stuffed penguin.  I think they hoped it would blow up the penguin, except it was made of fire-retardant material.  I grew up with all girls, so watching boys blow things up was pretty funny. Pictures to be loaded tonight.  Oh, wait!  I think I just found an SD port on this laptop!

Hope the grumpies are subsiding for all! :D

Joyce, I heard about that abbreviated fireworks display -- my first reaction was to laugh (since I'm still dealing with lingering irritability over all the bloody annoying fireworks in our neighborhood last night).  But then I thought of all the people who came to watch the show, like you said, as well as the expense the city had to buy the darn things in the first place, and I realized it really was a shame.

Who said ice cream for dinner?  Karen?  Sounds good to me!  Chocolate chip is my

I'm looking forward to a good night's sleep.  Last night was very late to bed with all the fireworks noise, so the 5AM alarm was an unwelcome sound (even more than it usually is on any other day!).  Actually, Ruby did fairly well last night.  During the day she barked, whined, growled, and paced at every firework, whether it was a mini-popper thing, or the illegal M-80 ones.  By nightfall, she was either exhausted or desensitized, so with the windows closed and TV blaring, she actually stayed rather quiet curled up next to DH.

Too many deadlines at work today, so back to it!

SInbad was pretty funny during our little island parade (it last like 9-10 minutes) yesterday. We were on the deck watching, and each time a vehicle in the parade went by and beeped/hit the siren, etc., he'd woof. If they didn't beep, he didn't woof. (It wasn't his "real" bark--which is super loud, just a woof.) I think he wanted to ride on the fire truck!

I agree with ice cream for dinner--mint chocolate chip, please.

disappointingly I didn't have ice cream for lunch or dinner Sad

But dinner was some nice shrimp kebabs (really just grilled shrimp) - I had some summer squash (from a friend), red onion, mushrooms and jalapeno peppers (from same friend) grilled on kebabs too. Very yummy! I love fresh home grown squash

I am feeling less irritable - just a culmination of heat, being tired, stupidity, silly things going wrong (but it seemed to be all of them), work snafu's, etc. Plus B was really up my butt and that makes me nuts too. The coup de gras was going out to check my veggie garden this evening (after another wet storm Big Smile) to discover that Bambi and friends ate ALL the plants in two of the areas!!

In the famous words of Roberto Duran "no mas" I give - you win - etc.

Hoping to wake up feeling more normal tomorrow and to not have everything I touch fall apart LOL

Karen - I feel bad for your garden.  My dad has declared war on the bunnies at his house.  It's actually somewhat reminescent of Caddy Shack if you ask me he he he

Still have a headache and so ready for bed with still so much more to do.

Lol Lisa, the bunnies don't do too much damage - then again the piggy deer eat everything!

Lisa tell DH to check out these two apps Pulse and Flipboard

I can't believe how little I did today. After I took Shane for a walk, I sat down to watch a little tv and suddenly felt super sleepy. I laid down and read for a bit and then crashed hard. I had dreams about the mailman delivering Christmas presents Hmm.

Karen - I hope tomorrow is much better for you. Sorry about your garden though. That would bum me out too :(
