Mindless Tuesday

I looked over the CGC test last night and I think Shane will do well with almost all of it. We need to work on him staying when I go out of sight. I also don't know how he'll do for the loud noise thing. He's not super skittish but he might jump or try to scoot away. Hopefully that won't be a big deal. I'm wondering what other training we could enroll in since this ends in 2 weeks and I think it's been really good for both of us. Any ideas?

I just typed out my post and got rid of it.

Anyway, I think it's okay if the back away from the loud thing, as long as they don't cower in fear. Of course, during Luke's the dropped a wobble board, and he approached to jump onto  it. He knows he gets treats for that. Heck, today when we to do our therapy visit, he went to go approach the construction guys and their equipment. He failed the first time because of the separation. The second try, when he passed, he did start to whine. His examiner asked the other one what he thought, and they decided he wasn't overly distressed, so he passed. I taught him to do it as an out of sight stay, as suggested here. I think he did break the stay, but he knew not to come toward where I had gone. Now that he's passed, he can't do that anymore. Friday night at the Flyball tournament, I handed him off to my friend, and I had Callie. He has known her since he was 11 weeks old (the day I got him, she came). She comes in my house and takes him, and he sees her multiple times a week. He was very reluctant to go with her when she walked somewhere away from me (but finally did go after several times checking back, and I gave him permission to go). On Sunday, a team member's granddaughter wanted to walk him. I really didn't want to go out, since I wanted to see one of the dogs in another race, but I had to go with them so that he would walk with her. It's been many practices to get him to run to someone else. If I was completely out of the picture, he'd go with someone else, but he will not be left by me with someone else.

I'm so tired today, and I got home early last night (before 7) and went to bed early too. I'm trying to stay up for a few more hours tonight, because I want to watch the olympic trials, and a few other things.

Gorgeous weather here today! I got some gardening done, broke the weed whacker (it's old) and got a small load of sea weed (for the garden).  And, I got caught up on grading. I really needed to do some house cleaning, but was just too nice outside!

    Yeah for Riley's progress!

I hope everyone one in the path of the storm in Florida/Gulf coast is OK. We need to figure out how to get some of that water over to Arkansas and all the wild fire areas in the west!

Hugs for all who need them.
