Thinking good thoughts for your mom Sarah and happy birthday early to your baby boy.

I have tile in my kitchen and large entryway but I'd like to rip it and the carpet up and do the big tiles. I think I might want to leave carpet in the formal living room though and I do like it in the bedrooms but that would be it. It would be a tough choice between hard wood and tile but I think tile is more forgiving in terms of scratches and showing dust/dirt.

Oh Sarah I think of you & your Mom often, sending gentle vibes to her and much strength.

    C cannot be 1!!!!!!!

Cathy I worry about hardwoods too but in this area tile throughout isn't done. I am trying to convince DH to do wood in the bedrooms and put Berber down the hallway and into the TV room. Our carpet is living on borrowed time

Sarah, sending good vibes to your mom and to you.  I too can't believe your baby boy is going to be one already.

I'd love to do hardwood but I worry about the damage four dogs might do not to mention the increased expense.  I got a leather couch and loveseat last year and love not having to worry about dog hair or spills, etc. :)

Without question tile is the way to go, it's just that it just isn't done in traditional family homes here. I would TOTALLY do it if I could.

Nicole - we've missed you!!! Sophia is adorable and I know the lack of sleep thing will get better, otherwise no one would have siblings Wink.

Ditto on the leather furniture Jackie. Best investment ever!

I just took Shane out for a quick walk and first he spotted a little squirrel run up a tree and then we both watched as a bird chased the squirrel back down the tree. I'd never seen that before and it was pretty cool to watch. The bird was making an odd flapping sound and kept dive bombing the squirrel. I'm sure there's probably a nest up there somewhere. I was a little worried that Shane would start barking or going nutso but he was really good. Big Smile

Nicole, Sophia is beautiful!  So sweet of Sammy to give new baby sis a kiss :)

Jackie, congrats to the Mr. for his promotion :).  I only have one room left with carpet.....it's the last one to go!

Bugsy....enjoy the new playmate....we really must have you over, Rocky has been in squirrel mode for several weeks and they are teasing him unmercifully, he needs help, a little team work,  Hot just watches from the shade "Hooo-Huuuummm iz toooo Hot for Hot Shot"  Wink

Mr. Ginger—I hope recovery is quick. That wasp sting sounds awful!
    Mr. Jackie—congratulations!

Sarah, sending good thoughts for your Mom. I hope she is able to take the meds this week. And happy first birthday to the little guy!

Nicole, I’m so glad to meet Sophia—she is adorable! Sammy, you’re being a good helper!

Bugsy, Sinbad's going to send you an email later tonight. I think it's about crab legs but I'm not sure.

I think PF Chang' was just got bought out by another company. They used to have a decent gluten free menu--one of the few places a friend of mine could eat without worry when we went out. I haven't been in a couple years.

I’m off to Minneapolis for 5 days –a couple days for work and a couple for a mini-vacation. I spent today trying to get the garden in shape. I really don’t want a major weed patch when I get back!  Everything is finally planted. And, it looks like there might be some beets ready to harvest when I get home. Yeah!

Mozey has decided that if she wants to sleep on the dog bed Sinbad is on, she’ll just snuggle up next to him…and then he’ll move to the other one in about 2 minutes.

Hugs for all who need them.

     have a good trip Kate!

I don't understand the draw woman have to breastfeeding. It looks like such a pita! I mean, I understand it is supposed to be healthier and all that but seriously, I would hate it.

PF changs - I'm not a fan of Chinese food but I have eaten there and surprise surprise, I didn't like it ;p

I love the look of tile floors and wish I could go that route but here it gets way too cold in the winter. I bet it will be awesome for your dogs in your heat.  I am contemplating having someone remove all of my carpet and finishing my existing wood floors underneath. They are a mess and would need some boards replaced. Can they do that? Plus my dining room needs all new flooring completely. Right now though I am looking at a new french door off the back. I'm just trying to figure out what is the best way to get that done. Do I go to lowes, buy one and have one of their contractors install it or do I buy one then hire a handy man to do it or go through a windows and doors place. That would be the most expensive route, I bet. My house is not worth much so spending a fortune for a new door would be a waste of money.

I spent today outside on construction sites. It was gorgeous out and a nice way to spend a work day. It's always interesting stopping by projects and chatting with various workers. The down side is that I have to write a report up every time I visit a site Tongue Tied Paper work - bleh.

LOL at Mozey and Sinbad.  Sinbad, Rex understands as he does the same when Gabby lays down next to him.  Safe travel Kate and have a good mini vaca.

Julie, I'd love to get a french door on the back.  I wish I knew a good handyman for jobs like that.  You can have individual boards replaced if you have yours refinished.  I know this because they said it on some TV DIY show.Stick out tongue  Must be true. lol  Seriously, they do it all the time and just stain everything the same color.

What a crappy last hour at work.  Insurance woes, truck woes, work load overload and a coworker who would try the patience of a saint.  I'm so glad to be home and need to put it out of my mind so it doesn't ruin my evening worrying about it all.

Good boy, Shane, for not going nutso over the squirrel and bird. Give him some kisses from me, Cathy.

Just saw the new recommendations for women concerning calcium and vit D supplements, for post menopausal women.  I'll keep doing what I do until I can do some more reading about this latest study.

I can easily explain the appeal of breastfeeding.....my youngest son!  With my first, fixing bottles in the middle of the night would have been ok....he was a sunny natured child.  With the second, the mouth opened before the eyes and it didn't matter how wet or dirty he was, he didn't shut up until he got fed.  The idea of dealing with that noise long enough to fix and heat a bottle??  GAWD NO!!

There are health benefits for the baby and the mom.  You can eat like a hog and it all gets used and you loose weight FAST, the uterus gets back to normal more quickly and it is really a special bond between mother and child.

That baby girl is GORGOUS!!  And, I can't spell any better than she can......

I stopped and got Benadryl on my way home tonight, because the stuff on my right arm was driving me nuts. I came home and was asleep from 8:30ish until 11:00 when Luke woke me up to  go out. I was so out, that when I got up, Callie was in here, and I have no idea how she got in here. I don't know if my mom brought her down, or if my mom sent her and I just opened the door for her. I don't think it helped, other than to knock me out, which then of course you can't be annoyed if you're asleep. It's too late to take more now, since I have to be up again at 5:45 or so.
