I still feel like crud. Busy day so I've tried a different pharmaceutical path than I did yesterday because that didn't work too well.

You know its bad when food doesn't interest me

I wish it were my Friday!!

We have an acre with lots of shrubs/ bushes and trees. Why have house finches, robins and cardinals all nested in the same two adjacent shrubs? I suppose it does make it easier for me to keep a big black nose from hassling baby birds to have them all in one spot but it is right by the side door to the garage. I feel like you get dive bombed every time you go near the door and its the main way we go outside.

So how long will it take for the babes to fly off?

For anyone bored enough to look, this is Fiesta.  The short version:  its' a 10 day party.   http://www.fiesta-sa.org/

I've never been to a bridal shower that wasn't held in the hostess' home.  I don't think I would appreciate being asked to pay to attend one no matter the reason.  I understand that sometimes hosting at a home might not be possible.  Deb's idea sounds good.

Most take about two weeks.  They don't all fledge at the same time since hatching doesn't take place at the same time for most birds.  The wrens we had fledged in about 15 days from hatching.

    Fiesta sounds awesome!!!

Thanks for the bridesmaid advice. Deb, asking the hotel place is a great idea!! I'm not so keen on the idea of a "bridal shower" anyway (don't people give gifts at the wedding itself anyway?), so shelling out hundreds of dollars to host a party for people to give presents seems.... challenging! I think the bride's sister (and maid of honor) might be planning to pay, but that seems like asking a lot... Weddings sure are complicated sometimes!

Morning all, havent had a chance to catch up with everyone.   Hope all is well and if it's hot stay cool, if it's cold stay warm, if it's wet stay dry...lol this weather is the craziest thing.

Hot alerted me to Ron falling last night.  His pride was most likely hurt worse that he was...but still it scared me .   Long story short Hot would not have been the one I would have expected to alert....although Rocky was looking for me...Hot was barking loudly which caused me to come outside and see what the noise was all about.  I had just been out there and we were grilling.  When I heard all the comotion I figured Ron was playing with Hot..(they have conversations alot)  I stepped out and couldnt see Ron...did see Hot and Rock and Hot was standing next to Ron still barking.  It took me a minute to access the situation and get Ron back up on his feet.  Hot did not leave Ron or quit barking until I got him up and he saw him walking, then he sniffed the area where he fell, was satisfied all was good  then he laid down and rested. :) Good boys...both of them but especially Good Hot I didnt expect that from the scaredy dog Big Smile

    Way to go Hot!!!

Rainy, gloomy morning and my hair just loves the humidity in the air Embarrassed. I have an appt to get my hair done today at noon and I wish I was brave enough to have it all cut off but I'm not.

Regarding the bridal shower, if you could find someone who has a large enough home and offer to pay for everything and clean up afterwards, that would work. I agree that having one at a restaurant and asking folks to pay would be a bad idea. As for the gifts for bridal showers AND weddings, the bridal shower gifts are usually less expensive and more of the useful nature vs. the china or crystal no ever uses. Stick out tongue

I did some new ab exercises yesterday and can really feel it today. Ouch!

I have officially pulled one egg cooker out of thin air. I know one of the bosses will be glad, but another will not when he sees the freight charge. Tongue Tied

Tina, that sounds like something a very unusual magician might say in his act!  Big Smile

Cita, it's been years since I've been to a bridal shower, but 99% of them were held at the homes of someone in the wedding party or bride's family.  A couple were in small "banquet" rooms at hotels because they involved huge families and no one had a home large enough for a big crowd.  If you could find a room or location somewhere convenient, you could pull together a nice gathering without spending a ton of money.  Simple refreshments like some suggested would be very nice.

I have to admit, I don't miss the years when it seemed I was going to showers and weddings constantly.  The expense of the gifts was nuts.  A few years later, the same thing happened with baby showers.  I suppose soon I'll be facing the graduations and weddings for the children from those baby showers!

Wow - how cool that Hot knew something was wrong and that he had to alert someone for help.  What a good boy!

Re. Bridal Showers and Bachelorette  parties, I think it's usually the bridesmaids, but I've only done it once. The friend who asked me to be in her wedding also knew she was asking for two grad students to do this for her, and she isn't into super fancy girly things anyway. We actually had to let her in a little bit so she wouldn't enter her dog in an agility trial that weekend. We rented a pavilion in a local park, we provided the main dishes and the cake, and we asked the guests to bring side dishes. Both of the mothers helped us (as did my mom actually)  to put it together. Nobody complained, or at least if they did, it wasn't to myself or the other bridesmaid. We were also super non-traditional with the bachelorette party, which she also had to be clued in about because of the dog. We took her to an amusement park, and the next day we went white water rafting. We split the cost of paying for the bride, which I think is how you would do it even if you were to go and do more traditional things. We ended up only doing that with the three of us, because the younger female relatives all lived out of the area, and we were pretty certain if we invited some of her other friends, we would end up killing them (along with the fact that they wouldn't have really liked our choice of activities).
