Just got back from ER vet w/ Brando

    Thanks everybody.
Angela I really appreciate your input. I will ask my vet for metacam, but after this morning no more screaming like you said just skipping so I am not giving him anymore rimadyl. I am giving the milk thistle and chamomile tea, rest. he hasn't pooped I am worried about that he hadn't pooped the day before so this is day two and I know that day three is very bad, but now I am worried he can't do the squat thing at all. I  had him on my lap this afternoon, and was gently massaging him and when I touched his spinal cord by the low back he really tightened up.
    AAAAAAAAAGGGGGGGHHHH!

Deb, he'll be able to do the squat thing, don't worry.  Misty had incredibly inventive ways of getting herself to squat, at times with both legs off the ground.  The Rimadyl may have constipated her a bit, she'll go eventually.

Let me know how she's doing, it all sounds so very familiar to me and Misty.  Sorry you are going through this, Misty sends kisses to those little knees.

Oh Deb!!!  How horrible.  Please give Brando so lovin' from me.  How's Trixie being with him?
    • Gold Top Dog
Trixie is being a diva, she wants to know why her agenda has been upset because of that pain in neck boy dog?   although when I came out of the bathroom they were laying side by side, so I think she's a fraud and that she really likes him.

    hahahahaha, the gig's up, Trixie!

    How's Brando doing today?
    • Gold Top Dog
    Hey, Deb,

Something I forgot to mention--if you have slippery floors that Brando likes to zoom about on, put down some runners for him.  The look isn't exactly Martha Steward Living, but Brando will appreciate it.  Slippery floors are really tough on those little knees.  I have runners from Target through my kitchen (why'd I spend so much on a designer ceramic tile floor?) and across all the wood floors so Little Misty has her path to run.

Brando pooped today Yeah! Only on this forum could I share that and have other people care lmao.

Angela thanks that's exactly what happened, I put runners in the kitchen, well I only had mats yesterday but today Joe picked up a rug runner from Walmart. also he got a haircut as you all know Brando's coat is like no other pap I know, however it keeps growing to the floor, so I cut it and his massive tail too, because when that's down it's like a train.

Yay Brando!!!  Keep up the good work, sweetie!!!!!  [sm=kiss.gif]

Hi guys thanks for the support again, he isn't doing well at all now, I pm'd angela, and I am going to paste what I asked her here so any input will be very welcome.
Hi Angela how are you? I am sorry to bother you but  I don't know what to do, is this to be expected? Both vets told me to give this 2-3 days today is two, he is not getting any better, he is only out of  his crate for about 2 min. then he goes back in. If Joe or I or trixie go towards him when he is out he scoots right back in so I know that he is in extreme pain. He is eating and not sleeping much while he's in the crate, but that's it, I carry him out to do his business then carry him in. So my  question is, should I give it the day, tomorrow or call and tell her she needs to see him tomorrow, that is if he is no better by tomorrow.
I can't stand to see him suffering, but if this is normal to the healing process ok, I just don't want to put off getting him help. Sorry for the long post, I am a tad of a wreck.
I am going to copy and paste this on the forum too,  just in case it may help someone else someday. So if you have time you can answer me on the board
    Thank you
    deb

Oh yeah, and this is what I have to stare at and I do stare all day!
    How pathetic is this?

    • Gold Top Dog
Brando, baby, you're breaking my heart.  I don't know, if it were me, I'd have my baby @ the vet now.  Do you remember Brenda with all the Min Pins?  I know one of her dogs had a brace for her luxating patella.  I wonder if that would help some.  I'm just kind of thinking out loud.
    • Gold Top Dog
I know Annie I am taking him in tomorrow, I can't stand seeing him suffer like this anymore, I am going to pm Angela see what I need to look for  in a surgeon for this, because like I said to Joe, when asked if I would do the surgery? yes it's worth the risk from anesthesia if he is in pain more than not and if he can't be a dog, like walking, and smelling, and playing tug, or even go to the door when Trixie is (not) barking, he has been standing in  the kitchen and barking w/her, oh  God, I have had a constant knot  in my stomach since Sunday.
Oh yeah, I am going to ask Brenda about that.
    • Gold Top Dog
It sucks when one of our babies is hurting.  If it helps @ all, I'm with ya girl.  My stomach is in knots with you.  Give Brando some lovin' from me.  Try not to get yourself too nutso about this. It will just wear you out & Brando needs you right now.
